(Before we start I know the time line of the story is a bit messed up but your unfortunately going to have to deal with it.)
Scene: Occult Research Club Room, the Day After Y/n's Wall Incident
The ORC room was quieter than usual, likely because the gaping hole in the wall had turned the once-cozy space into an accidental breezeway. Asia and a very reluctant Issei were busy patching up the damage with materials that looked suspiciously like they'd been stolen from the school's storage closet.
Issei: (Muttering as he slapped on duct tape like it was plaster) "I swear, one day, I'm gonna knock that smug bastard Y/n into next week."
Asia: (Smiling apologetically) "I'm sure he didn't mean to throw you that hard..."
Issei: "He didn't mean to—ASIA, HE YEETED ME INTO ORBIT!"
Meanwhile, Y/n lounged lazily on the clubroom sofa, completely unfazed by the carnage he'd caused the day prior. He flipped through a book he'd found lying around, something about devil etiquette that he clearly had no intention of applying to himself.
Y/n: (Without looking up) "Careful with that wall, Issei. Wouldn't want your handiwork to fall apart the next time someone sneezes."
Issei growled under his breath, his duct tape assault becoming more aggressive.
Before the conversation could devolve further, the door opened, and Rias, Akeno, Kiba, and Koneko strolled in. Rias looked particularly exasperated, her crimson hair practically bristling with frustration.
Rias: (Eyeing the wall repairs) "Let me guess: Issei's still ranting about Y/n, and Y/n's still pretending he's not the root of all my problems."
Y/n: (Closing the book with a snap) "Pretending? My dear Rias, I am the root of all your problems. No need for pretense."
Rias pinched the bridge of her nose as Akeno chuckled softly behind her.
Akeno: (Playfully) "At least he's honest about it."
Rias: (Sighing) "Honest or not, we've got bigger things to deal with."
That caught everyone's attention. Even Y/n tilted his head, intrigued.
Y/n: "Bigger than the walking feather duster we just dealt with? Do tell."
Rias: (Ignoring the jab at Riser) "It seems there's been some unusual activity in Kuoh. Reports of holy energy have been surfacing, and not just from the church. Something's stirring, and I don't like it."
Kiba: (Darkly) "If it involves Excalibur, I want to know."
The temperature in the room seemed to drop a few degrees. Y/n gave Kiba a sidelong glance, his usually playful demeanor replaced with a flicker of seriousness.
Y/n: "Careful, Kiba. That righteous anger of yours might singe the furniture."
Kiba didn't respond, but the tension between the two was palpable.
Rias: (Quickly intervening) "That's why I've called you all here. If something involving Excalibur fragments is happening, it could mean trouble for all of us."
Issei: (Still fuming from earlier) "Wait, wait. So, let me get this straight. First, I nearly get cooked alive by that overgrown chicken nugget Riser, and now you're telling me there's holy swords in my devil-filled backyard?!"
Koneko: (Deadpan, eating a cookie) "At least you're consistent at losing to overpowered enemies."
Y/n burst out laughing, nearly falling off the sofa.
Y/n: "Koneko, I didn't know you had it in you. That was beautiful."
Issei: (Turning red) "NOT YOU TOO, KONEKO!"
Rias: (Raising her voice slightly) "Enough. We need to be prepared for whatever's coming. Which means no more fighting amongst ourselves."
Y/n: (Smirking) "Oh, but where's the fun in that?"
Rias shot him a glare that could've turned him to ash, but Y/n just winked at her.
Rias: (Turning to the others) "We're not sure what we're dealing with yet, but I want everyone on high alert. That includes you, Y/n."
Y/n: (Feigning offense) "Me? Rias, I'm hurt. When have I ever not been on alert?"
Akeno: (Sweetly) "Last week, when you fell asleep during Koneko's sparring session."
Koneko: (Flatly) "I hit him with a chair."
Y/n: (Grinning) "And yet here I am, alive and well. You're welcome for the lesson in resilience."
Rias sighed again, rubbing her temples as if trying to ward off an impending headache.
Rias: "Just... try to be useful for once."
Before Y/n could fire back with another quip, a knock came at the door. Everyone tensed, the energy in the room shifting instantly.
Y/n: (Standing up, cracking his neck) "Well, this should be interesting."
The door creaked open, revealing two figures cloaked in white. Irina and Xenovia stepped into the room, their holy energy radiating like a blinding spotlight in a room full of devils.
Irina: (Cheerfully) "Helloooooo, Kuoh Academy! Did you miss us?"
Xenovia: (Curtly) "We're here on church business. Again."
The entire ORC groaned in unison, save for Y/n, who grinned like a cat who'd just found a mouse.
Y/n: (Mockingly) "Ah, my favorite holy duo. To what do we owe the pleasure this time? Here to measure the new window I installed?"
Xenovia: (Ignoring him) "We've received reports of increased fallen angel activity in the area, and we suspect it may involve the Excalibur fragments."
Kiba's jaw tightened, his fists clenching at his sides.
Rias: (Coldly) "We've already told you—we want nothing to do with those fragments. Whatever the fallen angels are planning, it's none of our concern."
Xenovia: (Flatly) "As much as I'd love to believe that, your kind isn't exactly known for staying out of trouble."
Y/n let out a low whistle, clearly enjoying the tension.
Y/n: (Leaning back against the wall) "Well, she's not wrong."
Kiba's eyes burned with barely contained rage as he stepped forward, his voice low and venomous.
Kiba: "If those fragments are here, I'll find them. And I'll destroy them."
The room fell silent, the weight of his words hanging heavy in the air. Y/n tilted his head, studying Kiba with a curious glint in his crimson eyes.
Y/n: (Softly, almost teasingly) "Careful, Kiba. Obsession doesn't suit you."
The tension was palpable, and for a moment, it seemed like the fragile peace in the room might shatter. Then Irina clapped her hands together, breaking the silence.
Irina: (Brightly) "Well! This is going to be fun, isn't it?"
Everyone groaned again.
