Author's Note: Timeskip: Two weeks after the Underworld training.
The simulated battlefield was a breathtaking recreation of Kuoh Academy, but the magical enhancements of the Underworld gave it a surreal edge. Floating chunks of terrain, glowing runes etched into the walls, and a sky bathed in twilight hues served as the stage for the Rating Game between the Gremory and Sitri peerages.
This match was unlike any other. It was a clash of rival heiresses, each determined to prove their capabilities. Yet among the Gremory group stood Y/N, a wildcard with no true allegiance. He wasn't here out of loyalty or duty; he was here because it suited him—for now.
Y/N leaned casually against a tree at the edge of the field, arms crossed, an amused smirk tugging at his lips. The rest of the peerage stood around Rias, listening intently to her final briefing.
Flashback: The Announcement of the Rating Game
It had been a week into their training when Rias gathered her peerage in the grand training hall, her expression more serious than usual. Y/N, sitting cross-legged on a ledge above the group, watched her with mild curiosity.
"We've been given an opportunity to participate in a Rating Game," Rias began, her voice steady but carrying an edge of excitement. "Against Sona's peerage."
Gasps and murmurs spread through the group.
Kiba was the first to speak. "Against Sona? That's quite the challenge. She's known for her tactical precision."
Akeno smiled, her usual playful demeanor unshaken. "It'll be interesting to see how her strategies play out in a real battle."
Issei, of course, pumped his fist. "We'll crush them! There's no way we're losing!"
Y/N snorted from his perch, drawing everyone's attention. "Crush them? You might want to reel that enthusiasm in, partner. Sona doesn't play games—she plays to win."
Issei glared up at him. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means," Y/N said, lazily gesturing, "that if you charge in like a headless chicken, she'll pick you apart before you can say 'Oppai Dragon.'"
The group stifled their laughter, except Koneko, who deadpanned, "He's right."
Rias sighed, her patience with Y/N's sarcasm growing thinner by the day. "If you're done mocking my pawn, Y/N, perhaps you could offer something constructive?"
Y/N smirked. "Constructive? Sure. Don't lose."
"Brilliant advice," Akeno quipped, hiding a laugh behind her hand.
The announcement ended with a mix of nervous energy and determination. Rias knew Sona's tactical mind would be a challenge, but she had faith in her team—most of them, at least.
Present: Pre-Game Strategy
Rias finished her final instructions, her crimson hair glowing faintly in the twilight of the simulated world. "Stay focused, everyone. Sona will likely use her usual tactics—divide and conquer. We need to work together and adapt as we go."
The peerage nodded in unison, save for Y/N, who stretched lazily.
"Are you even paying attention?" Rias asked, shooting him an annoyed glance.
