Barry enters the school, on his way to Ms.Bustier's class, for homeroom. When Adrien approached.
Adrien: Barry!
Barry turns around to see Adrien marching up, with a rather disgruntled look on his face.
Barry: What's up, Adrien?
Adrien: You mean other than the fact my father is irritated that you questioned him and Nathalie last night? Not much. And I'm not exactly happy that you did, either.
Barry sighs, realizing Adrien's frustration.
Barry: Well, I'm sorry, Adrien. But even you have to admit, your father is an awfully suspicious person. The man hardly leaves his home, and conducts his business over the phone and video conferences.
Adrien: (Sighs) Whatever, Barry. Did you at least find anything interesting while interrogating my father and Nathalie?
Barry shakes his head, not wanting to reveal what he actually knew.
Barry: No, he and Nathalie are in the clear. They didn't have anything to do with the theft at Tsurugi Industries. If anything, he's just as much of a target as Tsurugi is.
Adrien rubs his chin, thoughtfully.
Adrien: So, who do you think could be targeting them?
Barry: Well, if I had to hazard a guess. I'd say the next likely suspect would probably be Felix.
Adrien becomes shocked.
Adrien: My cousin?! You think my cousin is targeting my father and Kagami’s mother?
Barry: It would make sense. You said he's known for stirring up trouble, w never he visits. Right?
Adrien: That's true. But could anyone, even Felix, be that crafty and cunning?
Barry looks away and mutters under his breath. His thoughts linger on Thawne.
Barry: You'd be surprised.
At that moment, a very downtrodden Marinette walks into the courtyard.
Barry: You alright, Marinette?
Marinette: No, Barry. I'm not alright.
Adrien and Barry glance at one another before turning back to Marinette.
Adrien: Well, what's the matter?
Marinette: It's…it's my dad…
Barry: Wait, wasn't your dad supposed to be released from prison, today.
Adrien: That's true, he was.
Marinette's voice began to sound shaky and broken.
Marinette: H-He was. But…the doctors at the prison said he had a heart attack last night.
He didn't make it.Adrien and Barry are left in shock. Tears of grief began streaking down Marinette's cheeks.
Marinette: First my mom, now my dad? What is happening to my life?!
Adrien quickly wraps his arms around Marinette in a comforting embrace. As though he were trying to shield her.
Adrien: It's okay, Marinette. I'm right here.
Barry, meanwhile, was processing the information.
Trying to make sense of the situation, in his mind.Barry: (TB) “Something's not right. Mr. Dupain just happened to catch a heart attack before the very day he was to be released from prison?
The timing of this tragedy is way too coincidental.
Falena Falco and Thawne must've had something to do with this.”Just then, Lila walks up and breaks Barry out of his thoughts.
Lila: Barry?
Barry: Oh. Hey, Lila. What's up?
Lila: I need to talk with you in private.
Barry: Okay, I-
The bell rings for class to start.
(BringRingRingRing!)
Barry: Sorry, Lila. It'll have to wait.
He heads up the stairway to Ms. Bustier’s class.
Lila: Sure. It's not like I have anything bothering me.
At the Agreste Mansion Atelier, Gabriel stands at his console, going over the conversation and the security footage of him and Barry from last night. His expression looked stern and irritated.
Nathalie: (Coughs) So, what exactly are you doing, sir?
Gabriel: Reviewing the conversation from last night. Mr. Allen is getting too close. I refuse to let him jeopardize our plan!
Nathalie: We just need to keep calm and not- (Koff! KOFF, KOFF!)
Nathalie begins coughing violently and falls to her knees. She holds up a handkerchief to her face.
Gabriel: Nathalie!
He kneels next to her as she composes herself.
Nathalie: S-Sorry, sir. Just a… a little short of b-breath, is…is all.
A drop of blood leaks from Nathalie's nose.
Gabriel: Nathalie, I'd hardly consider a nosebleed as short of breath!
She looks at the blood drops on the handkerchief and wipes her nose.
Nathalie: I'm… I'm fine. I can–
Gabriel: No excuses. I want you to go rest. The last thing I need is you overexerting yourself.
Nathalie, realizing her boss wouldn't take “no” for an answer, just nods.
Nathalie: Very well, sir.
She exits the room. At that moment, Gabriel's phone goes off.
(VRRRRR!)
He looks to see a new message from an unknown number.
“Don't get in the way. You'll regret it if you do.”
Gabriel reads the message and goes to his speed dial. After a moment, the call picks up.
Gabriel: Tsurugi-san? It's Gabriel. Very well, thank you. I have a special request. Do you still have the footage from that break-in at your company?
Tomoe speaks through the other end of the call.
Gabriel: You do? Excellent. Would you be so kind as to send a copy of the footage to me?
He walks over to his console.
Gabriel: The reason? Let's just say I need to take care of a rather quick problem.
