Kya Yeh Waqt Hai?

---

Kolkata – The Next Morning

The match was over. India had won.

Shubman had scored a century.

And then… he'd looked up toward the VIP box and done the famous prince-style bow — the one he usually saved for statement innings. This time though, it wasn’t meant for the crowd.

It was meant for Rihi.

But she wasn’t there.

Back home, curled under a blanket, she’d seen it on TV. She didn’t move, but her fingers curled against her palm.

Drama king,” she mumbled, her voice caught somewhere between a sigh and a smile.

---

That Evening – Cafe Near College

Rihi hadn't planned to step inside the café, but it had started raining and her college notes were too precious to risk.

She sat by the window, rubbing her cold hands together when the door creaked again.

He walked in.

In a plain white tee, wet hair, and no cap for once — Shubman.

Their eyes met. Neither smiled.

But he walked straight toward her.

“Hi,” he said, slipping into the seat across.

She blinked. “Hi.”

There was silence. A waiter walked by. They didn’t order anything.

“I didn’t know you’d be here,” he started.

“I didn’t either,” she replied, looking out at the rain. “I just needed to be alone.”

“You always run away when I’m around.”

“And you always act like we’re something we’re not.”

That hit. His jaw flexed. “We could be... if you stop pushing me away.”

She looked at him, eyes vulnerable. “I’m scared.”

“I know.”

“I have insecurities, Shubman. I’m not like those girls—perfect skin, perfect figure, no baggage.”

“You think I want perfect?” he said softly. “I want you.”

Meanwhile – Aashna and Abhishek (Text Thread)

> Aashna: You blushed on field. I saw. Camera didn’t lie.
Abhishek: I don’t blush.
Aashna: Liar.
Abhishek: You’re impossible.
Aashna: And you love that.
Abhishek: Maybe.
Aashna: What’s that mean?!
Abhishek: I’m saying… maybe we should talk when I’m back. In person.
Aashna: You mean it?
Abhishek: Kya tum chahogi?

She stared at the screen, heart thudding.

> Aashna: I’ll think about it.

But her cheeks were already warm.

---

Back at the Café

Rihi finally broke the silence. “I saw the bow…”

He looked at her, unsure. “It was for someone not in the stands.”

“You’re cheesy,” she mumbled, hiding her smile.

He chuckled. “You love that.”

“No, I don’t.”

“Yes, you do.”

A pause.

Then she whispered, “Shubman?”

“Hmm?”

“That day… the café with Sara… it hurt. I know I shouldn’t feel that way, but I did.”

He leaned in. “It was never what you thought. She came with a friend, I bumped into them. That's it. I didn't even stay.”

She nodded slowly. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have acted like I had any right.”

“You do have that right,” he said, voice quiet but steady.

---

That Night – At Home

Her sister peeked into her room, curling beside her.

“You okay?” Aashna asked.

She nodded.

“I think Abhishek and I… we’re something now,” Aashna said shyly.

She smiled. “I hope so. He calms your chaos.”

“And Shubman?”

“I don’t know yet,” she whispered. “But he makes my heart quieter. That’s new for me.”

---

Mumbai Departure – Airport

Shubman stood at the gate, holding her wrist gently.

“I’m not saying let’s make it official tomorrow,” he said. “I’m just saying… don’t disappear on me again.”

Rihi hesitated. “Promise me something?”

“Anything.”

“If things ever get messy again… you talk to me. Not through texts. Not through gestures. Just you and me.”

“Done.”

“And one more thing…”

“Hmm?”

“Win the next match for me,” she said, biting back a smile.

He grinned. “I’ll try. No guarantees.”

She leaned forward.

“I’ll be watching this time.”
