Chapter: Vanishing Point
Scene: GOA CLIFFSIDE PATH – 5:56 PMThe sun was slipping below the sea, dyeing the sky in burnt orange. The air was thick with salt and regret.
Rihi wandered down a narrow path lined with bougainvillea and old stones, her sandals scuffing against the dust. Her phone buzzed again.
> Aashna: Come back pls didi. Where are you?
She didn’t reply.
She didn’t know where she was.
She just needed space. From the words. From the guilt. From the version of herself that felt like a villain in her sister’s eyes.
At the edge of the path, she found a bench. Overlooking nothing but waves and sky. Quiet. Empty.
She sat.
And cried.

Scene: GOA HOTEL – 6:32 PM
Aashna paced the balcony, hands trembling, heart thudding like a war drum. Her phone clutched so tight her knuckles went white.
“Pick up. Pick up, didi.”
No answer.
She turned to Abhishek, panic rising like floodwater. “I shouldn’t have yelled. I said horrible things—she left and now she’s not answering.”
“She’s probably just cooling off somewhere,” Abhishek said, trying to soothe her.
“No, you don’t get it!” Aashna snapped. “She doesn’t just disappear. She hates getting lost. She panics when she can’t find her way back—”
Her voice cracked.
“She gets so quiet when she’s hurting. I should’ve known.”
Shubman entered, his face tense. “She’s not at the beach. I checked all our usual spots.”
Aashna’s breathing sped up.
“I told her I wasn’t just the baby anymore. That she was jealous. What if—what if she believed it? What if I pushed her too far?”
She looked at both of them, eyes wide and wet. “What if something happened?”
Shubman stepped forward, resting his hands on her shoulders. “We’ll find her. I promise.”

Scene: 7:01 PM – Back on the Cliffside Path
Rihi’s phone buzzed again.
> Aashna: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it. You’re everything to me. Please come back.
She stared at the screen. Then, slowly, stood up. Her legs felt heavy. Her chest, heavier.
She turned to walk back—only to realize she didn’t know where “back” was anymore.
The sun had dipped lower. The path looked different.
She was lost.
“Okay. Okay, don’t panic,” she whispered to herself, trying not to hyperventilate. “It’s just a wrong turn. You’ll find your way…”
Her voice wavered.
Then her phone buzzed again.
> Aashna: Where are you? I’ll come. Just tell me.
And before she could think twice, Rihi dropped a pin.
---
Scene: 7:17 PM – Cliffside Bench
Aashna ran. Hair loose, feet slipping in her sandals, face streaked with tears and sweat.
And then—she saw her.
Sitting small on the bench.
Still.
Safe.
“AASHNA!” Rihi cried, standing up.
They crashed into each other, arms thrown around necks, shoulders, sleeves, whatever they could hold.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Aashna kept whispering. “I didn’t mean any of it.”
Rihi sobbed into her neck. “I thought you hated me.”
“I could never hate you. You're my Rihu.”
They stood there like that, sisters in the wreckage of their words, wrapped in the kind of hug that only comes after you almost lose something too big to name.

Scene: Later That Night – Hotel Rooftop
Rihi and Aashna sat wrapped in a single blanket, sipping chai. Quiet, but softer now.
“I know you’re just looking out for me,” Aashna said, voice small. “But I need you to trust that I’ll learn. Even if it’s messy.”
Rihi nodded. “Okay. But promise me—if he ever makes you cry, I get to break his nose.”
Aashna grinned. “Deal.”
A pause.
“Can we just… stop being adults tonight?” Rihi whispered. “Just be us?”
Aashna leaned her head on her shoulder. “Yeah. Just us.”

Group Chat Pops Up
> Shubman: All clear?
Abhishek: I bought ice cream in case emotions needed sugar.
Aashna: Found her. She’s okay.
Rihi: She brought me back.
Abhishek: Of course she did. That’s your person.
