Flight Mode: Chaos Activated

---

Kolkata – 4:45 AM

“Tu pagal ho gayi hai?” Aashna whisper-screamed, dragging her suitcase through the hallway. “We’re literally sneaking out of the house!”

Rihi, already lacing up her sneakers, whispered back, “We told them we’re going to Mandarmani for a girls' trip. Technically not a lie.”

Aashna stopped mid-step, raising a brow. “It’s Mumbai, babes. Not Mandarmani. We’re crossing state borders. This is a federal-level lie.”

“I’ll make sure the guilt hits me mid-flight,” Rihi deadpanned, grabbing the tickets.

They tiptoed past sleeping parents, shared a quick glance, and then burst into silent giggles as they finally got into the cab.

“First flight together,” Aashna whispered as the car sped through the empty streets of Kolkata.

“To cause chaos,” Rihi whispered back.

In the Flight – Window Seat Diaries

“I still can’t believe we’re doing this,” Aashna said, staring out the window as the sky slowly turned from deep blue to golden orange.

“I can’t believe you’re nervous,” Rihi teased. “You’re the bold one.”

“I’m not nervous! I’m just… I want to look good when I meet him.”

“You always look good,” Rihi smiled. “And anyway, I think he just wants to see you, not your eyeliner.”

Aashna nudged her. “And you? You going to tell Shubman you saw every ball of that century?”

“I’ll tell him I watched it on mute with a frown the whole time.”

“Liar.”

“Hopeless.”

Both girls laughed.

Mumbai – Late Morning

They reached the team hotel just in time to catch the staff prepping for practice departures.

“Do we just… walk in?” Aashna asked, biting her lip.

“We flew across the country. We better.”

With a bit of luck and a lot of charm, they managed to get to the café inside the hotel.

And then…

“Rihi?” a familiar voice called.

She turned. There he was.

Shubman. Messy hair. Surprised smile. Holding his phone like he was mid-scroll and had just seen a ghost.

“Surprise,” she said softly.

He didn’t respond — just walked up to her, shook his head like he couldn’t believe it, and whispered, “You’re real.”

“Last I checked, yeah.”

Then came Abhishek.

“Tu pagal hai kya?” he said to Aashna. “Tu Mumbai aa gayi and didn’t tell me?!”

“I just did.”

She grinned. He grinned wider.

Later That Day – Practice Ends

“Okay, but this is not how I imagined surprising you,” Rihi said, sipping on her iced coffee beside the stadium stands.
