Hao Wu Yi is my best friend, a high school classmate. She was born on May 1st, and anyone who knows the origin of her name will say, "Your parents were so lazy!" Hao Wu Yi would sigh and say, "Yeah, luckily I wasn't born on March 8th."

It's said that Hao Wu Yi had a serious illness when she was little, almost losing her life. Because of this, her parents didn't put much pressure on her academically. As long as she was healthy and could jump around, that was good enough. Hao Wu Yi was very diligent though, and in all her exams, she never fell into the bottom three. She always performed quite steadily.

Her dad wasn't worried either, always saying, "It's fine, I'll pay for the extra school fees so you can go to X High School." Our generation of kids grew up hearing, "Once you get into X High, it's like you've got one foot in the door of a prestigious university." But later, we all realized that whether or not you can get into university has little to do with that "one foot" in the door.

Hao Wu Yi enjoyed three carefree years of playing around. Then, during the year of the midterm exams, the education bureau suddenly reformed the system, banning the extra school fees, and you could only get into a school based on your score. Her whole family was stunned. Her dad tried for a long time but couldn't get it done. Eventually, our principal came up with a new fee called "school construction fees," and only then did Hao Wu Yi step into the gates of X High School.
