Meanwhile, Shahneel wasn’t letting Aashna off the hook so easily. "And you?" he asked, narrowing his gaze. "How did you meet Abhishek?"
Aashna blinked, feeling the intensity of Shahneel’s stare. She shifted slightly in her seat, her smile faltering just a little. "I was with rini didi when she got hit when we went inside the dressing room i met Abhishek cause he was trailing behind shubman with towel on his neck ." Aashna’s voice held a mixture of amusement and honesty.
The group erupted into laughter, breaking the tension momentarily. Shubman and Abhishek grinned at their girls, a sense of pride swelling in their chests. It was cute—the way they both had their own stories, their own versions of how things started.
"But I’ll ask again," Komal persisted, her tone unwavering. "What are your intentions? You can’t just fool around with my brother, Rihi. He’s my responsibility, and I’ll make sure he’s with someone who cares for him—truly."
Aashna felt her throat tighten, and she exchanged another glance with Rihi, who was trying to compose herself. "I swear, we’ve always been serious about each other," she finally said. "We’re not just playing around. I love him—Abhishek means the world to me. And I’d do anything to make him happy."
Rihi nodded in agreement, her voice steady. "Same goes for me. Shubman... he’s someone special. We’ve been through a lot together, and I care for him deeply. More than anyone could understand."
Both Komal and Shahneel seemed satisfied with their answers—at least for the time being—but they weren’t done yet.
"Let me tell you something about my mom," Shahneel said with a sly grin. "She’s a very angry lady. The last time I brought someone home, I thought she was going to kick me out of the house. If you think Shubman’s tough on the field, wait until you meet her. She’s got that same fiery spirit."
Rihi’s face paled just a little. The thought of meeting Shubman’s mother sent a wave of nervousness through her.
Shubman, sensing Rihi’s discomfort, leaned forward to try and intervene, but before he could say anything, Komal spoke up.
"And my mother," she began, her tone still serious, "is just as strict. She doesn’t like surprises, and she definitely doesn’t like new people who aren’t serious about our family. So, Aashna..." Komal’s gaze turned soft but firm. "I hope you’re ready for that. Because if you’re with Abhishek, you’ll have to answer to her too."
Aashna couldn’t help but gulp, her nerves starting to build again. The weight of everything—the expectations, the family, the scrutiny—was beginning to settle in. But she wasn’t going to back down. She was in this, fully, with Abhishek. She had made that choice, and she was prepared to face whatever came with it.
Abhishek and Shubman watched helplessly, unable to interrupt their sisters. Both Komal and Shahneel had such a commanding presence that even the boys didn’t dare speak up. They just sat there, eyes wide, waiting for the storm to pass.
Ishan, Agni, and Khushpreet, who had been silent observers of the interrogation, stiffened at the sudden silence in the room.
They were trying their hardest not to laugh, but the whole scene was just too much to hold in. Finally, when Komal and Shahneel’s intense gazes flickered momentarily toward the others, Ishan burst out laughing, Agni snickered, and Khushpreet did his best to stifle a chuckle.
"Alright, alright!" Ishan finally said, raising his hands in mock surrender. "We get it! The girls are serious. Can we eat now? I’m starving."
Everyone turned their attention to the lunch table. Rihi and Aashna had worked together to prepare a massive spread—biryani, butter chicken, salad, laccha parathas, and custard. The smells filled the room, and even the serious atmosphere couldn’t stop the hunger pangs that followed.
Shubman and Abhishek, ever the affectionate boyfriends, got up to help the girls serve the food, but before they could, they both turned and kissed Rihi and Aashna’s hands, making them blush deeply. The soft gesture made everyone pause for a moment, but then the teasing began.
Khushpreet raised an eyebrow. "Aaj kal toh... bhabhi ki izzat kar rahe ho humari toh nahi ki . Shubman, aise kisne sikhaya?"
(Nowadays you're respecting sister in law you never respected us .shubman who thought you this?)
Agni rolled his eyes. "Dilwale, yaar. So sweet... so cheesy."
But it was Komal and Shahneel, who had been sitting silently and observing, who couldn’t help but give in to the moment.
"Looks like they’re serious about each other after all," Shahneel said with a smirk, his tone softer now.
Komal gave a small nod. "Hmm... I think I’m starting to like this. But we’re keeping an eye on you both."
Everyone laughed as they sat down for lunch, the tension melting away, replaced by warmth, love, and playful banter. Even the teasing couldn’t take away the undeniable fact that the group had grown closer in these few hours. The family was finally beginning to understand just how deep the bonds ran between the couples—Shubman and Rihi, Abhishek and Aashna.
And for the first time, everyone felt like a true family.
