OFFICER BRIGGS AND HUNTER LEAVE. TORIA THEN LOOKS AT DRAY WHO IS HOLDING BACK A GIGGLE. TORIA THEN POINTS AT HIM REINERATING WHAT SHE SAID EARLIER.
CUT TO: SHADOWLANDS
EXT. SHADOWLANDS - NIGHT
SHADE DROPS DOWN INTO THE SHADOWLANDS THEN WALKS TO OBADIAH'S CABIN.
[Obadiah]
Dray, that you?
[Shade]
Yeah, it's me.
SHADE WALKS INTO OBADIAH'S CABIN.
[Shade]
Hey, do you have a second?
[Obadiah]
Sure what's going on?
[Shade]
I coughed up blood last night.
[Obadiah]
Do you think you need to go to the hospital?
[Shade]
To be honest, there's been a lot of instances when I probably should have gone to the hospital and I've been fine. This might be a stretch but I believe that it could be my powers.
[Obadiah]
Hmm, that's an interesting idea. Power down out of your shadow suit, I want to look into this a little bit more.
SHADE POWERS DOWN OUT OF THE SUIT. OBADIAH LOOKS THROUGH A COUPLE OF BOOKS IN HIS LIBRARY THEN FINDS AN ANSWER.
[Obadiah]
So this was something that I didn't actually foresee. It would seem that the shadow suit is taking a toll on your body because of the properties of the suit. I don't know the exact reason why at this moment, however, I can say for sure that your heroic efforts have most likely exacerbated the problem at an accelerated rate.
[Dray]
So what do I do?
[Obadiah]
You should either give up the suit for a while or you start taking better care of yourself. Eat more vegetables, end patrol an hour or two earlier, watch your blood pressure.
[Dray]
To be honest, giving up my powers is off the table. I'm sure it's not that bad right? I mean I've been stabbed and shot.
[Obadiah]
This isn't something you can disregard, Dray. If you don't keep track of this the properties of the suit will kill you. You'll be fighting on two fronts.
[Dray]
Is there nothing that you can think of? I mean there has to be something right?
[Obadiah]
Why don't you take a break? Wouldn't you say you've earned a break?
[Dray]
Modus was proof enough that even if I did take a break I'd be constantly running into the same problem. There are too many jackasses out there and if it's not my day being soiled then it's usually someone else's.
[Obadiah]
It can't be that bad.
[Dray]
