PAGE 1 (EIGHT PANELS)
Panel 1.
CUT TO: DOWNTOWN DISTRICT
INT. MAYOR'S OFFICE - AFTERNOON
MAYOR HAMMOND SITS AT HIS DESK WITH TALKING ON THE PHONE.

MAYOR HAMMOND: (BALLOON)
I will see to it that something is done about the police chief. As it stands I believe that his actions were reprehensible and everyone must be held accountable. Yes, you have my word. As always, you have a good day as well. Goodbye.

Panel 2.
AS MAYOR HAMMOND HANGS UP HIS PHONE THERE IS A KNOCK AT HIS DOOR.

MAYOR HAMMOND: (BALLOON)
Come in.

Panel 3.
PANEL SHOWING JACOB WHITAKER WALKING INTO MAYOR HAMMOND'S OFFICE IN A LIVELY FASHION.

JACOB WHITAKER: (BALLOON)
Brice, it is such a pleasure to see you again.

MAYOR HAMMOND: (BALLOON)
Jacob, well isn't this a pleasant surprise?

Panel 4.
PANEL SHOWING MAYOR HAMMOND AND JACOB WHITAKER SHAKING HANDS WITH EACH OTHER.

MAYOR HAMMOND: (BALLOON)
It's not every day a friend comes to visit me. I mostly only see friends at fancy dinners now.

JACOB WHITAKER: (BALLOON)
That's something rather spectacular. Being called a friend by the people's champion.

MAYOR HAMMOND: (BALLOON)
I hate how that title follows me around. It was a stupid grandiose sobriquet brought on by my publicist. The results of which have yet to be calculated on whether it was a good thing or not. Especially since everyone flocks to my office every time they need something.

Panel 5.
CLOSE UP OF JACOB WHITAKER'S EYES SLIGHTLY GLARING AT MAYOR HAMMOND.

Panel 6.
CLOSE UP PANEL OF MAYOR HAMMOND'S EYES LOOKING FACTUAL.

Panel 7.
PANEL OF JACOB WHITAKER STANDING ACROSS FROM MAYOR HAMMOND IN AN IRRITATED FASHION WHILE MAYOR HAMMOND STANDS WITH HIS ARMS CROSSED.

MAYOR HAMMOND: (BALLOON)
I heard about what happened to Lucas. That's very unfortunate but you must understand that my hands are tied in the matter.

JACOB WHITAKER: (BALLOON)
I see. Then just how long were you intending to allow me to belaud you?

MAYOR HAMMOND: (BALLOON)
I think I stopped you pretty early on.

Panel 8.
PANEL SHOWING JACOB WHITAKER RAISING HIS FIST IN INFURIATION.

JACOB WHITAKER: (BALLOON)
So, that's how it's going to be? Then due tell, you refuse to help my son. Why is that?

PAGE 2 (EIGHT PANELS)
Panel 1.
PANEL SHOWING MAYOR HAMMOND WITH HIS ARMS OUTSTRETCHED.

MAYOR HAMMOND: (BALLOON)
Why because I am the people's champion of course. You might not want to admit to yourself but we both know what that title really means.

JACOB WHITAKER: (BALLOON)
Ah, you hate your moniker so much you've found a way to make it work for your own interests. And of course, what would it look like for the people's champion to be working alongside one of the nonpareil?

Panel 2.
JACOB WHITAKER SLAMS HIS HAND DOWN ON MAYOR HAMMOND'S DESK.

JACOB WHITAKER: (BALLOON)
Hammond, you rat! You would let my son rot in jail because of your petty ratings? Have you forgotten what got you in this position in the first place?

MAYOR HAMMOND: (BALLOON)
It was a culmination of many things. Surely you won't attempt to say that the weight of my success is all on your shoulders.

Panel 3.
JACOB WHITAKER POINTS AT MAYOR HAMMOND.

JACOB WHITAKER: (BALLOON)
I suppose that the title suits you fairly well seeing as how you stick your neck out for felonious thugs especially the newest sob case. What a joke.
