Mission to the Sand

And with that you all began your travel to the Sand.

*Timeskip*

After three days you all managed to get to the Hidden Sand along with Temari who was on her way back as well. We were quickly escorted by two men towards the hospital, who had informed us that Kankuro was poisoned.

You all urgently ran inside and saw a few people surrounding Kankuro. You saw Sakura throw off her backpack and immediately began to examine him.

A few seconds after, an elderly lady had tried to attack Kakashi Sensei but before she could, you stepped in front and grabbed her fist in your hand. She tried punching you with her free hand but Naruto had made sure to grab her fist as well. She jumped back and mentioned someone known as the White Fang of the Leaf. You could see her words were directed at Kakashi Sensei and you didn't know anything about that.

"This sounds like a you problem," you said while stepping away from him. An elderly man stood beside her and clarified to her that it was the wrong man. She laughed it off like a crazy old woman, even though she seemed like she was already.

Sakura ordered us outside the room to give her more space and we obliged. You leaned against the entrance to the room while the others sat down in front of you.

"Hey don't you know medical ninjutsu as well (Y/n)?" Naruto asked with a raised brow.

"Some, but I'm not an expert on removing poison like Lady Tsunade or Sakura over there." You turned your head to the right and saw her start to extract the poison and sighed knowing this would take awhile.

"Well that's something that Sakura-chan beats you in." Your eyebrow twitched at his comment, but you simply ignored him. Kakashi Sensei minded his own business by keeping himself distracted with his book, not wanting to get involved in the conversation.

*Timeskip*

Kankuro had finally woken up after awhile and was giving us information about the Akatsuki members he encountered. While Lady Chiyo and everyone else were talking you stepped out of the room and went on outside towards the back where there was a botanical garden.

Stepping inside you saw a variety of plants and medical herbs. "Need any help Sakura?"

She looked up at you and shook her head. "No I've just finished making the antidote." She had a proud look on her face as she gathered all the items. We made our way outside in the searing sun headed back inside with the others.

Kankuro was still awake and everyone stared at us as we stepped in. She headed straight towards him and gave him the antidote to drink. He thanked her but as he looked around the room his eyes landed on you. You seemed unrecognizable to him after those couple of years but after staring at you for a few more seconds, he could distinguish that same face and those (e/c) eyes of yours.

"I've prepared rooms for you all to rest in," said Baki. Naruto wanted to decline and start searching for the Akatsuki until Kakashi Sensei interrupted him and accepted the offer.

"You can't expect us to win when we're weak and tired right," you added in while giving him a nudge on the arm. He had a small pout on his lips before leaving to retrieve his backpack. You followed him and grabbed yours as well.

When you were all about to leave, Kankuro had spoken up. "Naruto, (Y/n)....Please save my brother." He glanced at you and Naruto and you assured him with an affirmative grin.

"We definitely will." Naruto held a thumbs up to him and was determined to bring him back alive to them. We walked out of the room and followed Baki down the hall that would lead to our rooms.

He stopped in front of the hallway that had two doors across from each other.

"These will be your rooms for the night. I hope you all rest well." He left us there as we each said goodnight to each other and each female and male headed inside their respective shared room.

Sakura stepped inside first as you closed the door from behind. You found it to be a plain looking room with two beds and work table nearby. You placed your backpack on the table and chose the bed by the window.

"Hey (Y/n)...about the past...I want to apologize for how I behaved towards you. I forgive you...but it doesn't mean I've forgotten about it." She had her back facing you while you were already under the covers of your bed.

"Got it." Without another word you turned around to face the window and closed your eyes, wanting to re-energize for tomorrow.

*Timeskip*

You were standing outside with your teams siting for whoever was suppose to join you on your mission. In front of you all landed Lady Chiyo. You were all surprised at her arrival, wondering if she'd fare but accepted her as the addition even if she was an elderly woman. You retreated out of the village and ran off towards the direction of their location thanks to Pakkun's help.

After you were out of the desert you were all leaping from branch to branch. Naruto started to pick up his pace a bit leaving us a bit behind. You started to leap closer to him not letting him go far off on his own.

"I know you're in a hurry, we all are but you have to relax. We'll save him together," you said in reassurance.

Sakura caught up to you and Naruto, changing the conversation between you two.

"How long have the Akatsuki been after you two?" You glanced at Naruto but stared off into the distance straight ahead.

"From what we know since almost three years ago, but who knows. Why do you ask?" You questioned with your eyebrow raised.

"I was just curious as to why they'd want to go after you two. And why strike now."

'She may have done research on the Akatsuki but she's still clueless and unaware of the tailed beasts.' You said a simple 'oh' but she still wanted to know the reason why. "Well who knows what their reasons were," you said acting clueless.

Lady Chiyo noticed that you were averying the truth from Sakura, so she stepped into the conversation. "There was an entirely different reason why they had to wait this long. A great deal of preparation is involved in order to extract a tailed beast. All they needed was more time."

"What tailed beast?"

"I'm surprised you don't know especially since the Leaf has the host of the nine tailed and eleven tailed fox." Naruto slightly tensed up at the mention of that however, you gazed down at the ground as she kept going into depth about the tailed beasts. 

You didn't bother to look back at them as you leapt further on ahead of them. 'Whatever they try I won't let them get ahold of mine. I won't go down easily without a fight.'

"Slow down (Y/n)," called out Kakashi Sensei as he stared at your figure. You jumped down from the trees into a clearing and saw someone unexpected standing there. Kakashi Sensei got in front of you and protectively extended his arm out in front of you.

"Itachi..." Your voice was inaudible and his name hung in the air as he stared back at you with softening eyes.
