Zach p.o.v.
I was sat in my office working away like every night for the past few weeks. I didn't expect the work load would increase so much when I changed position in the company.
It was around 4pm, I looked at all the work I still had to do and sighed. I grabbed my phone and called y/n.
"hey Z"
"hi love uhm I'm still at work and I still have a shit tone of stuff to do. I won't be able to go get Luca, i'm so sorry"
"it's okay babe, i'll go get him"
"thanks i'm sorry i'll try and not get home too late"
"ok, see you later, love you"
"love you, bye"
I put my phone down and sighed rubbing my face before getting back to work.
y/n p.o.v.
I pulled up to the kindergarten and went inside, I went into his classroom where other parents were picking up their kids. I saw Luca in the corner drawing in a colouring book.
I walked over and rubbed his head, he looked up and saw me.
"Mommy!"
"hi love, you ready to go home?"
"yeah look!"
"wow that's really good"
"Can I take home and show daddy?"
"of course cmon let's go"
I grabbed his hand and we walked out, he waved bye to his teacher making us both chuckle. I put him in his carseat and drove home.
"Mommy"
"yeah baby"
"play with Daddy today"
"we have to see when he gets home, it might be bedtime already"
"ok"
he said sadly making my heart ache, all he wants is his dad.
Zach p.o.v.
I was still at my desk, stressed as ever. I looked at the time 7:30pm I wasn't even close to done. My boss walked in but I didn't stop.
"hello are you done with the document, did you call Jeff? (random colleague name)"
"It's almost done, yeah I did but he didn't have anymore information than yesterday"
"ok"
he nodded and looked over and saw a little picture on my desk, a picture of y/n and Luca. I always kept it with me.
"who's that?"
"my wife and son"
"oh you have a family ? how old is he?"
"he's four, yeah I do"
he was silent for a few seconds as I continued working frantically.
"you know...go home"
I looked up at him with a confused face.
"go home to your family, I don't want you going crazy in the office, you can come back on monday with a clearer mind"
I smiled
"thank you"
"It's okay, I didn't get to spend a lot of time with my son when he was younger and I regret it, so yeah enjoy it, they grow up fast"
"yeah, have a good night"
"you too bye"
I got in my car and drove home as quick as possible. I got home and walked into the house. I saw y/n in the kitchen from the hallway.
"Daddy!"
I looked up and saw Luca waddling over to me with his arms extended. I smiled and picked him up kissing his cheeks making him laugh. I walked into the kitchen so see a smiling y/n.
"Hey"
"Hi"
I touched her waist and kissed her, I put Luca down and hugged y/n tightly. She chuckled putting her head on my shoulder. I pulled back and kissed her again.
"i'm so happy to be home"
"i'm even happier"
she said undoing my tie, I smiled and took my suit jacket off. We sat down by the kitchen island and ate dinner together. Luca was making a bit of a mess. I stood up grabbing a napkin and wiped his face.
We finished dinner and played with him until it was bedtime. I was so happy to be spending time with my favorite people.
I put him to bed once it was time, he wanted me to sing him to sleep so I gladly did. Once I was sure he was out I went to our room. Y/n was brushing her hair in the bathroom, I put my arms around her waist hugging her from behind. She chuckled and kissed my cheek.
"you look so good"
"you're so sexy"
we laughed and got ready for bed. We laid in bed watching tv for a while and cuddling.
"I missed this"
"me too, sorry i've been working so much"
"no it's ok"
"i'll be here more I promise"
she reached her pinky out, we chuckled and I locked my pinky with hers and kissed it.
"I love you goodnight"
"I love you more"
