I have a neurological condition that i've had for a year now, it doesn't affect me very much I just faint pretty often. It happens a few times a month but if i'm going through a period of stress if can happen up to a few times a day.
It was really difficult in the beginning but I had my friends and family and Jonah. Jonah and I have been dating for two years, he's gone through all of this with me and he's always there. He knows how to deal with pretty well now, I've also learned to know when they come on and I can make sure to find someone I know or sit down.
Jonah p.o.v.
We were all outside having fun, swimming, listening music in my house. I was standing with Corbyn when y/n came over, I knew that face, she was gonna faint, she grabbed my arm tight.
"you need me babe?"
she nodded before closing her eyes, I quickly held her so she wouldn't fall and held her close to me.
"is she ok?"
"yeah yeah i'm gonna bring her inside quickly"
I picked her up and put her on the couch inside, I kept her in my arms rubbing her head. She woke up again.
"how long was it this time?"
"like 3 minutes"
"ok thank you"
"of course, you okay?"
"yeah I just need a minute"
"take your time"
~a week later~
Y/n and I were out in a cabin for the weekend with my family, we were all sitting by the fireplace. We were all enjoying s'mores and talking. I felt a tight grip on my arm, I looked over and saw y/n holding me, she put her head on my chest.
"I'm gonna-"
"it's ok it's ok"
She fainted again, I always felt horrible and useless when she did. All I wanted was for her to wake up and feel normal.
"is she out?"
my mom asked, I nodded
"how long does it usually last?"
"only a few minutes, if it's more than 15 she needs to go to the emergency room"
"you're great Jonah"
"I try to do my best"
I looked down, her eyes slowly fluttered open, she looked up.
"sorry"
"it's ok, you good?"
"i'm tired"
"ok, we'll head up soon"
she looked at my family
"i'm sorry"
"don't say sorry love, we understand, don't worry"
My mom told her so reassure her, she looked down.
"I'm gonna head to bed"
"ok I'll be up in a minute"
I whispered rubbing her back, she got up and went inside. I finished my s'more and said goodnight to everyone before going inside myself.
I went into our room but didn't see her but I heard the sink in the bathroom. I took my shirt off and got in bed waiting for her to come out. After 5 minutes she was still inside, I looked over.
"y/n? babe?"
I didn't hear anything making me instantly worry, what if she'd fainted again. I rushed over and opened the door to see her sitting on the floor crying.
"Love what's wrong? what happened?"
"nothing"
"no tell me"
"I feel like such a burden, someone has to be with me incase I fall, I feel like i'm holding you back from living and you have to take care of me all the time and you get nothing back. I don't deserve it"
"Love breathe...that's not true, I love you and I want to be there for you. I do get something out of it, being able to be with the love of my life every second of every day. You're absolute not a burden, i'm such a lucky guy, you're not holding me back from anything. This is my life and I wouldn't want any other one"
I hugged her tightly kissing and rubbing her head. I picked her up and carried her to bed. I cuddled her for a few minutes, kissing her from time to time.
"look I wanted to give you this tomorrow but finally I want you to have it now"
I sat up and rummaged through my night stand as she sat up aswell. I grabbed the little box and gave it to her, she looked at it smiling slightly.
"what is this?"
"open it"
she did and saw the ring, she looked up quickly
"are you...?"
"no i'm not proposing, well not yet but it's a promise ring. One day it will be an engagement ring but for now i'm giving you this because I love you and I promise to love and take her of you for the rest of our lives"
"aw Jo, stop im gonna cry again"
I chuckled kissing her cheek, I put it on her finger. She put her arms around my neck hugging me.
"thank you baby, for everything, I love you"
"I love you too"
She pulled her head back and kissed me, she pulled back chuckling.
"what?"
"your lips taste like chocolate"
I smiled and kissed her again, pushing her down gently as the kiss deepened. We did that for the rest of the night before falling asleep.
