Chapter 23: The Unveiling

848 19 1
By Jacko1478963

The battlefield was a massacre of pride and power. Vali and Katerea, the so-called pinnacles of strength, lay battered and broken before the Disaster Curses. The faction leaders and their subordinates, once so assured of their dominance, stood frozen in stunned silence.

Even the once-time-frozen onlookers were now free to move, only to be greeted by the sight of Vali brought to his knees like a child being punished.

Sirzechs: "What in Lucifer's name... What are those things?"

Michael: "They aren't of any race we know. They exude something unnatural—an evil unlike anything I've felt."

Azazel: "They called themselves Disaster Curses. A curse? What the hell kind of enemy is that?"

Tension thickened as fear gripped everyone present. The young devils, having barely begun to grasp the situation, were too terrified to speak.

Rias: "Brother—"

Sirzechs: (stepping forward) "Rias, it's going to be okay. You and Sona, take your peerages and evacuate immediately. These things... they are not to be taken lightly."

Rias hesitated, fear etched into her features. Sirzechs, seeing his sister trembling, clenched his fists, a burning resolve overtaking his usually calm demeanor.

Sirzechs: "Michael, Azazel... may I ask for your aid in removing this threat?"

Michael: (nodding) "My brother and I will gladly stand with you."

Azazel: (with a smirk) "Don't speak for me, but yeah, count me in. This is something we'll need to handle together."

Before Sirzechs could express his gratitude, a familiar voice cut in.

Serafall: "And don't you dare forget me! Those things are putting my precious Sona-tan in danger!"

Serafall Leviathan, the usually bubbly and childlike Satan Leviathan, exuded a completely different aura in this moment. Gone were her usual magical girl-inspired attire and exaggerated expressions. Instead, she was dressed in a sleek, form-fitting black business suit with subtle pink accents along the lapels, reflecting her status as a leader of the Underworld. Her long, flowing black hair was neatly tied into elegant high pig tails (don't know girl hair styles sorry), emphasizing her sharp, refined features.

Her deep violet eyes, typically sparkling with mischief, now held a piercing intensity, betraying her determination to protect her sister and maintain order. A silver brooch shaped like a stylized trident—a symbol of her title—adorned her blazer, while polished black heels completed her polished look. Despite her professional attire, the faint hum of magical energy surrounding her served as a reminder that she was still one of the Underworld's most powerful beings.

Sirzechs: "Apologies, Serafall. You're right—"

Serafall: "Yeah, you better not have forgotten—"

Before she could finish, the air shifted violently, heat scorching the atmosphere. In a flash, Jogo appeared behind her. His voice, a rumbling mockery, cut through the battlefield like a knife.

Jogo: "Foolish whelp. Never take your eyes off your enemy."

With a swift, upward motion, his fiery hand ignited Serafall in an instant. Flames engulfed her as she crumpled to the ground, her once-vibrant outfit reduced to ash.

The others stared in horror, frozen.

Sirzechs: "Serafall—!"

But before he could finish, Jogo turned his attention to the Lucifer himself. Another wave of fire consumed Sirzechs, his form collapsing as smoke rose from the attack.

Michael and Azazel, attempting to usher the younger devils away, barely noticed Jogo materializing behind them. Too late to react, they too were struck down in a fiery display of dominance.

The once-mighty leaders of the factions lay on the ground, still smoldering, their groans of pain barely audible. Jogo stepped over them, his single eye glowing with disdain.

Jogo: "Pathetic. Not one of them even put up a fight."

Kenjaku approached from the shadows, his sinister calm as unnerving as ever.

Kenjaku: "Now, now, Jogo. Let's not bully the weak too much."

Mahito: (laughing as he crouched over Serafall) "Oh, but they make such delightful toys. Look at this one—she's still squirming!"

Mahito pinched Serafall's cheeks playfully, his voice dripping with sadistic glee.

Kenjaku: "Still alive, though. Impressive. Perhaps Jogo is finally learning to hold back."

Jogo: "Shut it, Kenjaku."

Unnoticed by the curses, the younger devils foolishly reentered the room, gasping at the sight of their siblings lying beaten.

Rias/Sona: "Brother/Sister!"

Their cries caught the curses' attention.

Kenjaku: "Ah, it seems we won't have the pleasure of chasing the rest. How convenient."

Jogo: "No need. Dagon's already retrieving the time-stopping brat."

Rias: (screaming in rage) "What have you monsters done to them?!"

Mahito turned, a wide grin spreading across his twisted features.

Mahito: "Oh, are these your siblings? Let's see which ones you care about most."

One by one, he lifted the unconscious leaders by their throats, inspecting their beaten faces before tossing them aside like garbage. When he reached Sirzechs and Serafall, he hoisted both by their hair, forcing them to face Rias and Sona.

Mahito: "Ah, it's these two, isn't it? Don't they look fabulous? I think Jogo outdid himself!"

Sona: (furious) "PUT THEM DOWN, YOU MONSTER!"

Mahito laughed, spinning the two around like ragdolls, mocking their supposed invincibility. The devils could only watch in despair, tears streaming down their faces.

Amid the chaos, Issei clenched his fists, rage overtaking his fear. He charged forward, shouting.

Issei: "You bastards made Rias cry! I'll kill you!"

Rias: "ISSEI, NO!"

Before he could reach them, Hanami's vines shot out from nowhere, piercing Issei's chest mid-air. Sharp tendrils wrapped around him, stabbing through his body repeatedly as blood splattered across the room.
with vines piercing through his torso and limbs in quick succession, leaving him suspended like a grotesque marionette.

The devils watched in horror as Issei's body fell lifelessly to the ground.

Asia: "I-Issei-kun..."

Her cries turned into wails as the others followed suit, mourning their fallen friend.

Hanami approached Issei's corpse, pulling its vines free with a sharp motion, sending blood splattering across the floor.

Jogo: "What a fool. Tch."

Kenjaku: "A shame. I had planned to keep him alive longer, but alas."

Mahito, on the other hand, was ecstatic.

Mahito: "Oh, what a wonderful surprise! He feels so... different."

Kenjaku raised an eyebrow.

Kenjaku: "Different? In what way?"

Mahito: "He's like that white dragon kid outside. But weaker. Still, I think he'll make a fine puppet."

Just as Mahito reached for Issei's face, ready to transform him, the ceiling collapsed in an explosion of dust and debris. The force of the impact sent the curses flying into the courtyard.

As the dust cleared, a lone figure stood at the center, his form casting a long shadow over the injured leaders.

Sona: (recognizing him) "Y/N!"

The boy stood calm and composed, his gaze cold and calculated.

Y/N: "You can focus on healing. I'll take care of the curses."

Without waiting for a response, he leapt into the courtyard. The curses awaited him, their monstrous presence undeterred.

Y/N smirked. "Let's see if you're as strong as you look."

Scene change

As y/n jumps from the meeting room onto the ruined school yard he looked up expecting to see the group of curses present before but contrary to his expectations he looked up to see a semi-large army of devils and mages from the old devil faction which survived the curses earlier onslaught unlike their leaders. While y/n was originally planning on going straight after the curses that didn't seem like an option at the moment since the entire army looked at the boy as if he had murdered their entire family.

Y/n:"Fine I'll do it all myself let's get this over with."

The battlefield trembled under the weight of Y/N's cursed energy, a storm of power crackling around him as he strode into the approaching horde of devils and mages. His hands remained bare, his expression calm, yet his presence was suffocating, a living hurricane in the midst of chaos. The army charged, spells and weapons aimed to overwhelm him, but Y/N vanished in a blur of speed.

Reappearing in the heart of their formation, he raised his hand, unleashing a precise Blue pull of cursed energy. Soldiers were dragged toward him against their will, colliding into one another like puppets on strings. With a clenched fist, he released a concussive blast of Red, sending the mass of bodies hurtling back with explosive force, the earth cracking beneath their weight.

The survivors scrambled to retaliate, a wall of fireballs and magical projectiles surging toward him. Y/N extended a single finger, tracing a circular motion in the air as he whispered, "infinity." A invisible barrier of cursed energy which he stopped using recently to give himself more of a challenge formed around him, absorbing the incoming attacks before dissipating. As the dust cleared, Y/N leaped into action, bare fists glowing faintly with cursed energy.

His blows landed with the force of sledgehammers, each strike shattering bones and rupturing magical barriers. A devil lunged with a spear, but Y/N caught it mid-thrust, snapping it effortlessly. He twirled the broken shaft in his hand before hurling it with precision, impaling a mage in the distance.

When a larger group surrounded him, their weapons raised, Y/N calmly clasped his hands together. "Domain Expansion... Unlimited Void."

The world around him shifted, consumed by an endless void of information and overwhelming stimuli. The soldiers screamed, their minds breaking as they fell to the ground, paralyzed and unable to comprehend the infinite knowledge being forced upon them. Y/N walked among the incapacitated enemies, dismantling their remaining defenses with ease before releasing the technique, leaving behind only unconscious bodies.

A massive devil charged him, wielding a colossal axe. Y/N raised a single hand, activating Dismantle. A thin, invisible slash of cursed energy erupted from his palm, severing the weapon cleanly in two. The devil barely had time to register the loss of its weapon before Y/N drove a cursed-energy-infused fist into its chest, sending it flying into a cluster of soldiers like a wrecking ball.

The remaining forces rallied, forming a phalanx reinforced by layered magical barriers. Y/N smirked, crouching low as his cursed energy flared dangerously. "Let's see how much this barrier holds."

He extended both hands, activating Cleave. Thin, sharp slashes of cursed energy cut through the barriers like paper, carving through shields and armor alike. As the protective wall crumbled, Y/N dashed forward, delivering a flurry of devastating strikes. He moved like a whirlwind, weaving between attacks and using discarded weapons as improvised tools of destruction.

When a group of mages attempted to trap him within a binding spell, Y/N raised his palm and summoned Hollow Purple, a condensed sphere of raw destruction. "You picked the wrong opponent." He hurled the sphere, the resulting explosion obliterating the mages and carving a deep crater into the battlefield. The shockwave sent nearby soldiers tumbling, their courage wavering.

More desperate now, the army launched one final charge, determined to overwhelm him with sheer numbers. Y/N merely sighed, lowering his stance as cursed energy coiled around his body like a second skin. He stepped forward, his movements a blur. His fists smashed through armor, his kicks sent enemies flying, and his mastery of cursed techniques ensured that no attack reached him unscathed.

At one point, he picked up a fallen soldier's halberd, wielding it with lethal precision as he dispatched a group of enemies, only to discard it moments later. His cursed energy molded to his will, enhancing every strike, every dodge, every counterattack. The battlefield became his playground, and the once-formidable army was reduced to chaos.

As the battlefield settled into an eerie stillness, Y/N stood atop the mound of fallen soldiers and devils, his form outlined by the faint, ominous glow of cursed energy. The destruction stretched as far as the eye could see—craters pockmarked the ground, shattered weapons and armor were strewn everywhere, and the air was thick with the remnants of his overwhelming power. Yet, Y/N remained calm, his breaths steady, his gaze sharp as he turned toward the ORC clubhouse.

The Disaster Curses emerged from the shadows, their twisted forms illuminated by the soft moonlight. Kenjaku stood at the forefront, his ever-present grin slightly wider, his stitched face betraying a hint of intrigue. Behind him, Mahito practically buzzed with excitement, his childlike glee at the carnage evident. Jogo's smoldering rage was barely contained, flames licking at the corners of his mouth, while Hanami's presence was as stoic as it was menacing.

Kenjaku's voice broke the silence, smooth and calculated. "Interesting. You've proven yourself quite capable, human. Such raw power, and yet... you remain an enigma. Tell me, where does someone like you find the strength to carve through an army like this?"

Y/N didn't reply, his piercing gaze shifting between the curses, his body relaxed but prepared. He stepped down from the mountain of defeated foes, each step deliberate, his cursed energy crackling faintly in the air.

Mahito chuckled, leaning forward like a predator ready to pounce. "Look at him! So stoic, so serious. Don't you think he's just begging to be broken apart, piece by piece?"

Jogo scoffed, his voice laced with disdain. "He's just another arrogant monkey who got lucky. Nothing more."

Y/N's calm voice cut through their chatter like a blade. "Are you all done talking, or are we going to settle this?"

Kenjaku chuckled, gesturing toward the battlefield. "Impatience doesn't suit you, boy. But before we indulge in the inevitable, I'm curious about something."

Y/N raised an eyebrow, his arms crossed as he stopped a few paces from the group. "Make it quick. I don't have all night."

Kenjaku tilted his head, his stitched smile unwavering. "Our comrade, Dagon. I don't see him here. Would you happen to know anything about his... disappearance?"

For a moment, Y/N's expression remained unreadable. Then, as if piecing together a puzzle, he snapped his fingers, his face lighting up with mock realization. "Oh, the red octopus-looking guy? Yeah, I might've had something to do with that."

Mahito's grin widened, his excitement palpable. "Oho, so you did meet him! How did it go? Did he give you a warm welcome?"

Y/N smirked, his voice laced with a quiet confidence. "If by 'warm welcome,' you mean I broke him into so many pieces I lost count... then yeah, it was very welcoming."

Kenjaku's curiosity only deepened. "Interesting. How fascinating. And where, pray tell, is he now?"

Y/N's response was as swift as it was shocking. He reached into his cursed-energy-coated jacket and pulled out a bloodied, unrecognizable object. With a flick of his wrist, he tossed it to the ground at Kenjaku's feet. The curses looked down in unison, their expressions shifting as the light revealed Dagon's decapitated head, his lifeless eyes staring into the void.

For a brief moment, there was silence, the weight of the revelation sinking in.

Jogo's flames flared dangerously, his rage spilling out as he growled, "You... little... brat!"

Mahito whistled, clapping his hands together. "Wow! And here I thought Dagon was supposed to be one of us. Guess he wasn't as strong as we thought."

Hanami's aura darkened, their vines shifting subtly in agitation.

Kenjaku's expression, however, remained calm, though his stitched eyes glinted with interest. "I see. So, you were responsible for his death. Curious. But how? Dagon was in his element, surrounded by his own domain. How did you—"

Before he could finish, the scene shifted into a flashback.

FLASHBACK

The battlefield was already drenched with blood, seawater, and the screams of devils and mages who had underestimated the full might of Dagon. His hulking, cephalopod-like form towered over the chaos, water spilling endlessly from his body as he crushed his enemies beneath waves of cursed energy. His aquatic shikigami tore through the remaining mages, their bodies twisted and shattered before being dragged into the watery abyss of his attacks.

Y/N stepped forward, his expression calm and unimpressed. Koneko and Gasper, barely clinging to consciousness, were pinned beneath rubble, their eyes widening as they caught sight of him.

"Y/N!" Koneko gasped, her voice trembling with fear and exhaustion.

Dagon's slit-pupiled eyes swiveled toward the newcomer. His deep, guttural laugh echoed across the battlefield. "A mere human walks into my domain? You dare challenge me, boy?"

Y/N cracked his neck and rolled his shoulders, the faint glow of cursed energy radiating from his body. "Challenge you? No. I'm here to end you."

Enraged by the human's confidence, Dagon let out a roar that shook the ground. "You insolent wretch!" With a wave of his massive hand, a surge of cursed water shot toward Y/N, faster than a speeding bullet.

Y/N didn't flinch. In a blur of movement, he sidestepped the attack, his speed so great that the cursed water exploded harmlessly behind him. Before Dagon could react, Y/N was already airborne, a black silhouette against the moonlit sky. He twisted mid-air and hurled a discarded halberd directly at Dagon's head.

The weapon sliced through the air, only to be deflected by a wall of water Dagon summoned in an instant. The curse sneered, tentacles writhing as he snapped the weapon in half with ease. "Pathetic!" he bellowed.

But Y/N was already in front of him, closing the distance in the blink of an eye. His first punch landed squarely on Dagon's chest, the force of it causing the massive curse to stagger backward, his tentacles flailing wildly.

Dagon roared again, his mouth opening wide to spew a torrent of cursed water that threatened to engulf Y/N entirely. With a calm, fluid motion, Y/N activated Blue. The pull of his cursed energy distorted the water's trajectory, splitting it in two and drawing Dagon slightly off balance. Taking advantage of the opening, Y/N darted forward, delivering a rapid series of strikes to the curse's core.

Dagon, stunned by the sheer ferocity of the attacks, lashed out with his tentacles. One of them wrapped around Y/N's midsection, squeezing tight enough to crush steel. But Y/N's expression remained neutral as cursed energy flared around him, severing the tentacle with a precise application of Cleave.

"Is that it?" Y/N taunted, his voice sharp and mocking. "You're not as impressive as I thought."

The insult ignited Dagon's fury. With a roar, he unleashed his Domain Expansion: Horizon of the Captivating Skandha. The world around them shifted, the battlefield transforming into an underwater realm. The air grew thick and heavy, and the pressure was nearly unbearable for anyone who wasn't a curse or sorcerer. Hundreds of aquatic shikigami emerged from the depths, their glowing eyes locking onto Y/N.

Dagon's voice boomed through the domain. "You've sealed your fate, human. In here, I am a god!"

Y/N exhaled slowly, his hands in his pockets as he looked around the domain with mild disinterest. "A god, huh?" His voice was calm, almost bored. "Guess I'll have to kill a god today."

The first wave of shikigami rushed him, moving faster than the eye could track. Y/N ducked low, his movements fluid as he slipped between their attacks. One lunged with a set of razor-sharp claws, only for Y/N to grab it by the arm and slam it into another with enough force to shatter them both.

More came at him, but Y/N moved like a ghost, weaving through their attacks with an ease that bordered on arrogant. His fists glowed with cursed energy as he struck each creature with precision, dismantling them one by one.

Dagon, growing more enraged, sent another tidal wave crashing toward him. This time, Y/N didn't dodge. Instead, he raised his hand and activated Red. The repulsive force blasted the wave apart, sending water and shikigami flying in all directions.

"You're wasting my time," Y/N said, his tone cold.

Furious, Dagon descended upon him, his massive form casting a shadow over the battlefield. Tentacles lashed out in every direction, their movements too fast for most to see. But Y/N met them head-on, his hands a blur as he severed each one with Cleave, cursed energy slicing through the flesh like butter.

As Dagon reared back, preparing another attack, Y/N surged forward. In one fluid motion, he grabbed the hilt of a fallen sword and leaped onto the curse's chest. Driving the blade deep into Dagon's torso, Y/N twisted it savagely, causing cursed energy to erupt in a violent explosion.

Dagon roared in agony, thrashing wildly as Y/N jumped back to the ground, landing gracefully despite the chaos. The curse stumbled, his body beginning to collapse under the strain of Y/N's relentless assault.

Desperation flickered in Dagon's eyes as he summoned all his remaining cursed energy for one final attack. "I will not be defeated by a mere human!" he bellowed, his voice trembling with fury.

Y/N smirked, his tattoos glowing brighter as he raised his hand, cursed energy swirling ominously around him. "That's your mistake. I'm no mere human."

With a flick of his wrist, he unleashed Hollow Purple. The condensed sphere of destruction tore through Dagon's body, ripping him apart at the molecular level. The domain shattered around them, and the battlefield returned to its original state as Dagon's lifeless body collapsed into a heap.

Y/N approached the remains without hesitation, kneeling to sever the curse's head. Holding it up by the hair, he turned to Koneko and Gasper, his voice calm and commanding. "Stay close. We're not done yet."

PRESENT DAY

As the flashback ended, Dagon's head lay at Kenjaku's feet, blood pooling around it. The other curses stood in stunned silence, their expressions a mixture of shock, irritation, and intrigue.

Kenjaku finally broke the silence, his grin widening. "Fascinating. It seems we underestimated you, human."

Y/N's eyes narrowed, his cursed energy crackling around him like lightning. "Keep underestimating me. It makes this easier."

The tension between the two sides was electric, the confrontation teetering on the edge of eruption. The chapter ended with Y/N lowering into a fighting stance, the curses advancing, and the promise of an explosive battle to come.
