Shirou POV
As I stood lost in thought the silence was suddenly broken by the sound of the front door of the shed creaking open and the cheerful voice of Fuji-nee rang through the air.
"Shirou! I'm back!" she called out her footsteps echoing on the wooden floor as she made her way over.
"So soon?" I asked in surprise while wiping my hands onto my pants.
"Well I figured you wanted to have that forge of yours ASAP so...!" she exclaimed a wide grin spreading across her face "I brought some friends to help install your forge!"
I raised an eyebrow, a mix of surprise and curiosity washing over me "friends? As in...?"
Before I could finish my question a trio of burly guys followed Taiga into the shed each carrying tools and equipment. They looked like they could easily lift me over their heads without breaking a sweat.
"Hey kiddo, I'm Hideo," the tallest of the three said a friendly smile crossing his rugged face. He had a messy mop of black hair and wore a loose work shirt that had definitely seen better days "Taiga told us you needed a forge set up. We're happy to help out," he said.
"Oh..uh thanks," I replied feeling a bit awkward since I haven't had a proper conversation in a long time.
The second guy who was stocky with a buzz cut introduced himself as Riku "so where do you want the forge to be installed?" he asked glancing around the now empty space.
I gestured toward the corner "ah right over there please."
I watched as the guys exchanged looks of approval before setting down their tools and getting to work. They moved efficiently chatting among themselves as they began measuring the space and discussing the logistics of installing the forge.
I leaned against the wall observing their banter and camaraderie...again that same feeling of loneliness came up, I could tell it was my own emotion rather than the remnant's.
I knew that I mainly wanted to focus on getting as much power as I can yet at the same time I can't help but want to have a social life as well.
Then again I was an adult in a boy's body and there was no fucking way I would ever be able to form a friendship with some random brat.
-Timeskip with the workers finishing everything up-
Hours passed as the trio worked on installing the forge I had bought them some snacks and drinks during their breaks as a way to thank them.
Once they finished, they were quick to give their goodbyes and leave "I gotta leave as well Shirou! Still have a class to teach so I'll see you later tonight for dinner!" Fuji-nee exclaimed waving dramatically before hopping onto her scooter and zipping off down the street leaving me to my lonesome once more.
I shake my head at her antics before leaving back to the shed where the forge awaited. I got lucky that the workers decided to give me a free box of tools that I would need to actually forge saving me the time of actually having to buy some.
I discarded my shirt, grabbed the forging hammer, and lit the forge without wasting a moment. My eyes fell on the leftover metal pipes I had lying around nothing special, but they'd have to do for now.
The sword I would make today would be based off both Gram and Durandal the first for its ability to slay a dragon and the other for its near indestructability.
With those thoughts in mind I got to work.
-Timeskip (Forging Process)-
I began folding and shaping one of the leftover pipes into something resembling a sword. I let Durandal's and Gram's forging process flow through my mind while working at the same time.
Gram was a sword born from glory and ruin capable of slaying even a dragon. Bestowed by Odin himself Gram was also symbol of fate of kingship and destruction. I imagined the raw power it held its sharp edge cleaving through the scales of Fanfir bringing down the evil dragon.
Durandal on the other hand was an indestructible holy sword a weapon that would neither dull nor break no matter the force against it. The blade could perform miracles something Unlimited Blade Work's could replicate easily but not something I could personally add as an effect since giving something a miracle would require me being an actual angel or saint.
I let my intent flow into the metal as I worked each strike with my the hammer letting it be fueled with my desire to create a weapon that bodied the main concepts of dragon slaying and near indestructability. For a bit of insurance, I first altered the metal's property before reinforcing said property to make it as strong as I possibly could.
I then continued the process by pouring my prana through the weapon and then placing it into a container of water then oil before switching until the blade cooled down.
I took a brief step back letting the hammer rest in my hand as I examined the sword. The heat from the blade was still intense but the metal had cooled just enough for me to inspect it more closely. I ran my fingers lightly over the blade feeling its smooth surface. It was sharp dangerously sharp, and the balance felt perfect but there was still work to be done.
My eye close as I called up Gram's blueprint specifically the runes that were etched into the bottom part of its blade only problem was that I had no idea how to use much less carve runes, so I did the next best thing.
I placed a palm over the bottom focusing on trying to project the runes onto the blade instead of trying to project a weapon like how I would normally do.
My grip on the blade was tight as I did my best to project the runes onto it my head ached a lot while my circuits overworked themselves once more even though I should be resting them.
Smoking emanated from my palm then when I lifted my hand I saw the runes etched onto the blade granting it the magic needed to slay a dragon...in the process though my hand was badly burned.
Placing the blade down I went back to the house grabbing some bandages and wrapped it around my palm before heading back to my workshop.
"Forge on," I chanted flowing some mana into the runes letting it soak my magic until it stopped, I turned my circuits off to start working on the weapons guard/handle.
I went over to a nearby workbench, sorting through the materials I had left most of them were scrap pieces of the pipes that I used but I had just enough to work with. I gathered the necessary components a piece of tough leather and some spare steel for the guard.
A quick three minutes later and the guard/handle parts were complete nothing was special about them as they were common materials that I put together from scratch.
I carefully attached the hilt to the blade sliding the tang the unsharpened part of the blade into the handle. I used a strong metal pin to secure the pieces together making sure everything was tightly bound. I even went so far as to apply a bit of reinforcement magic to strengthen the bond between the blade and the hilt ensuring that the sword would withstand even the most brutal combat without coming apart.
When it was finally assembled, I stepped back to admire the completed weapon.
"To think I really made this from a pile of scraps...well now all that remains is to see if I made the sword an NP," I said with barely restrained excitement.
I grabbed the weapon from the hilt "Forge on...begin analysis," I intoned ignoring the painful jolt of using my circuits once more. A blueprint of the sword appeared in my mind showing everything about its structure, material, balance, and the runes I had projected on it from Gram.
The weapon could definitely be qualified as a mid quality magical weapon but it lacked the one thing that made a Noble Phantasm a Phantasm a... heroic legend.
I sighed with a bit of disappointment I mean I knew that a NP needed a legend to become crystalized but still I thought I could do something similar by forging a weapon while pouring the intent that made both Gram and Durandal become legendary weapons.
Hower that is not what I did instead I made a blade for a person that could one day crystalize the weapon with their legend once they became a heroic spirit.
A sudden thought hit me though I could copy and then project the sword but add Grams and Durandal's combined history to it.
I took a deep breath and drew on my prana a blueprint of the sword image of the weapon appeared in my mind, I took the accumulated history of both Gram and Durandal adding it to the weapon.
The air around me crackled with magical energy as the hilt of the blade began to appear in my left grip...blood leaks out from my mouth as I push my circuits once again causing the copy to fully form.
I turn off my circuits right away stopping the immense feeling I was feeling "fuck! that's the last time I attempt to push my already exhausted circuits tomorrow I am taking a break from using magecraft," I groaned out.
Lifting my left hand, I inspected the copy and immediately saw the difference whereas the original was normal looking and of mid quality.
The copy I had projected from Unlimited Blade Works had a similar magical aura that Noble Phantasms contained I would know having repeatably scanned the weapons Gilgamesh discarded since last night.
"So, in conclusion all I really need to do is add the weapon into the marble then take another hero's acuminated legend as a replacement for the weapon I've forged," I remarked out loud to myself.
I swung the weapon testing the feel, grip, and over all balance "it sucks that the original won't ever become NP but still this is also something worth being happy about now then what to name you?" I asked.
"How about...Galegrimm yes I quite like the sound of that," I said with a satisfied hum.
I let the blade fade away eventually leaving only the original in my right grip "right time to clean up I am really dead ass exhausted after this not to mention I really need a shower," I muttered.
One by one I cleaned the whole area up and then I took the original Galegrimm along with the hidden noble phantasm's placing them up on the display hooks on the wall of the shed.
I then placed Kiritsugu's old suitcase to the area that would have my study desk.
Once everything was all wrapped up, I left the shed heading straight for the bathroom a long relaxing shower needed after a very long day of working.
-end of chapter four-
Day #2 Continued
Taiga returned sooner than I expected and the forge was installed into the shed without a problem.
My goal to forge a Noble Phantasm was met with failure Galegrimm embodies Gram's ability to slay a dragon and Durandal's near indestructibility which make it so that the blade wouldn't shatter so easily.
In the end what I made was a mid-quality mystic code forged from pipe scraps that had it's properties altered instead of an NP.
An idea then came to me though, what if I were to project a copy of Galegrimm from Unlimited Blade Works but gave it the complete history of both Gram and Durandel.
After a quick projection later...I found that doing so made the blade into a NP and the best part was that since it wasn't technically a copy of 'Gram' or 'Durandel' it took less time to project and or degrade truly I am a genius hahaha.
-From the journal entry of 'Shirou Emiya'
Next chapter will be more of a rest for Shirou he'll be doing meditation mostly and some slice of life mostly.
Mostly because he needs to rest his circuits additionally the chapter after we'll see him do some physical work so that he can have a strong body that can take some tank some hits.
