Shadow's POV:
I ran, ran as fast as I possibly can, I can feel someone is in need of help, I just couldn't see them!
Think think think! Shadow! Where are those people screaming for help?!
As I was blinded and carried away by my thoughts, I heard another cry of help coming from what sounds like an old lady.
Continuing on with my path, the crying got louder until eventually, I heard growls of demons.
Soon enough I saw small particles that seem to have been made with fire.
I propelled myself into the sky and viewed those that are below me, I finally saw the lady who kept on crying, cradling her daughter who seemed to have received a huge gash of a wound.
Before the demons could lay a claw on them I landed in front of it and used a blinding flash to gain distance from the two of us.
Once I landed on the ground, I made sure the lady was behind me and I fully secured her.
"Stay away from us you vile demons! We don't want your kind in pestering with our lives!" I shouted in order to intimidate them.
The demons were frightened by the looks of it as it took a few more distance away from us, I growled at them to show that I do really mean on what I said, but unfortunately they just don't seem to listen.
Their master was somehow provoked and attacked me immediately without hesitation, activating my lance, I dodged only by sliding my left foot and pinned the demon to the ground.
With my lance emitting a bright glow, I stabbed it quickly and before I knew it, it fully turned into infernal dust.
Standing up straight seeing the old lady and her daughter shifer and fear, I charged up my light and fused it with my lance.
"Now you're going to feel what your master had felt" clicking my tounge I pointed the tip of my spear towards the remaining demons.
"First Twilight Skill: Afterlife Shroud!"
With my incantation, my lance blasted a strong holy force that eliminated the demons.
Wastin absolutely no time, I quickly rushed towards the lady and carried her daughter back to our village.
"Oh thank you Mr. Shadow"
The lady showed her appreciation to me.
"No need to thank me ma'am" I smiled at her before returning my gaze to her daughter.
Something about this feels familiar... I don't know what exactly is it but something is ticking in my brain.
--------------------------------------------------
We soon arrived back at the village, the girl was soon taken by the village doctors and were treated immediately.
Before her mother left me, she thanked me once more.
"Thank you Mr. Shadow, I cannot figure a way into how I can ever repay you"
"It's okay ma'am, I'm just doing my job, you don't need to worry about repaying me"
The lady's expression turned a bit gloomy, but she nodded and returned to her daughter.
Her daughter... I can't get it out of my mind, I just helped the poor lady that's it.. But why do I feel like I'm missing something... Perhaps I'm missing someone?
Hm.. I wonder what that could be..

- Flashback -
The ground beneath us started shaking until suddenly, it got destroyed, I rushed in to catch lian but unfortunately we both fell down.
Seeing that there's no easy way to climb back, I focused on lian and used my markings as a source of light and shone brightly in the dark area we are currently now.
Afterwards, I catched a glimpse of him and catched him with one arm, I wrapped my arm on his waist tightly as I landed on two of my feet.
Successfully catching him, he thanked me before we moved on...
That was actually the first time we ever talked...
--------------------------------------------------
"Argh!" I rubbed my head as I tried to forget that memory...
That's why I'm hurt... It's because of lian...
That memory... It.. It pains me.
Once I had managed to calm myself, I went back to check the girl who was injured.
Arriving there, I saw the doctors doing some finishing touches and patching up the girl's wounds, she's going to have a huge scar once that wound heals.
If I hadn't made it in time we'd be grieving another loss, strange how demons are slowly returning into my life, something must be up.
But it's not my job to investigate anymore, it's not my job to get to the bottom of this, in fact, it's not my job to be a world hero, just a guardian of this very village that I am currently living on.
But if there is a sign... I'm ready to help everyone, even if it means teaming up again with my old brothers.
