***Clarke

"O, don't bug me. I'm fine."

Damn it, why can't everyone just leave me alone?

"You come into the cafeteria looking like you've been crying and you're surprised I'm bugging you. I just want to know if everything's okay. Does it have something to do with Lexa and you now who?"

"You can say her name, O, it won't kill me. I'm just not in a good mood, okay?"

I hoped that would be the end of the conversation, but I was mistaken.

"So, you've heard about it too?"

Now I was just confused. "What do you mean?" I asked, looking at O questioningly.

"Well, someone stole the math exam papers, so now we have to rewrite them."

What? This can't be happening.

With nothing else to say, I let my head fall onto the table.

"Sorry, Clarkey. I know how much you've been preparing for the math exam." O rubbed my back soothingly, which helped me relax a bit.

I heard laughter and looked around, only to realize Lexa and Costia were approaching us. Costia looked at me smugly.

"Great," I muttered, preparing myself.

"Stay calm, Clarke. Everything will be okay," O's voice reassured me as she leaned back again when they arrived.

"Hey, people," Lexa greeted everyone and sat down next to me.

She pulled me into a hug, which I immediately reciprocated. I leaned into her, breathing in her scent.

As we heard a clearing of the throat, we pulled away from each other and looked at Costia, who was clearly trying to kill me with her glare.

But I ignored her and looked at Lexa. She was rummaging through her bag, pushing her hair behind her ear. She looks so good. I'd love to just...

"Ow, what the..."

I held my leg where someone had kicked it. I looked around the table and saw Raven, who had also joined us.

"Now that I have your attention, you can stop daydreaming," she winked at me and started a conversation with O.

As unnecessary as the kick was, I knew it was aimed at stopping me from staring at Lexa.

"I heard they have to redo the math exam. I know how long you've been studying for that," Lexa looked at me sympathetically.

She hugged me briefly and took a bite of her apple.

From the corner of my eye, I saw Costia observing the scene.

"I would've liked to have had those math solutions," Costia suddenly said.

"Practically would've been a lifesaver," I replied casually.

What I hadn't expected was for her to look at me triumphantly, stand up, and say, "I'm going to the bathroom real quick."

With those words, she disappeared.

We all watched her leave, puzzled. It wasn't like Costia to just leave Lexa alone, especially with me.

"See, she's changed. She doesn't have to be with me all the time anymore," Lexa smiled.

My thoughts weren't as positive. Remembering her smile felt like facing a demon. No, on the contrary, I wanted to know what Costia was up to.

A bad feeling crept over me, and I could only hope that my suspicions wouldn't come true.
