"Hello... Helloooo, is anyone there? This is getting really annoying." I pressed the red button and threw my phone onto my bed.
For the past 2 weeks, the same number had been calling me, but no one said anything. I looked from the bed to Roan, who was blissfully stuffing chips and cola into his mouth.
"pass the joint." But he didn't react, continuing to stare at the TV where American Dad was playing. Man, he was so high, but I couldn't complain because I was on the same level.
I'd been crashing at his place for a week since my mom was away at a training workshop. But even so, I was just here.
Today, we decided to skip school because we stayed up late last night.
As I took a drag from the joint and watched the smoke fill the room, I wondered who had been calling all this time without saying anything. Did the person just have boredom and enough credit to waste it? I didn't know, and honestly, I shouldn't care.
"Hey Roan, are Cindy and Leila still here?" We took Cindy and Leila to the bar yesterday. We had a lot of fun. Fortunately, Roan has two rooms in his apartment, or things would have gotten awkward, or someone would have had to go to the bathroom for fun.
"I think they're still showering," Roan said without looking at me. I just shook my head.
I got up and headed towards the bathroom, taking my phone with me. As expected, the number called me again. Why do I answer every time? I don't know, maybe it's a feeling that I should. No idea, but like every time, I answered.
"Hello, don't you want to say something now?" I waited, but as expected, nothing came. Just as I was about to hang up, I heard a clatter as if the phone had fallen at the other end.
I waited...
"Man, Raven, can't you pay attention?" My blood froze at that voice immediately. "Sorry, but you've been calling her for days and saying nothing. I just wanted to make the first move for you!" I wanted to hang up but just couldn't. "She's right." "Shut up, O. At least I called her. I would've said something if Raven hadn't tried to take my phone away." Then there was just a groan, and I heard someone get up to pick up the phone. "Um Lexa, the call is still going."
Hang up, finally hang up!!! But I was frozen. Nothing moved; it was as if the world had stopped, or rather, I had stopped.
The effect was even more intense due to the drugs swimming in my blood. Should I say something? No, why should I, and right now, I can't get anything out. Should I hang up? Yes, But...
"Clarke?"
