This meeting was different. Before, Robert and Felix were both reserved, but guarded around each other.
Now, the Alphas were downright cordial. Ryder wondered if they'd come to some understanding, but knew he could get more answers from Adan later.
"This should help," Felix said, taking a hand-woven bracelet from Ryder.
Back in high school, Delilah had gotten a bead kit and started making bracelets with all of her friend's names. Then she made a pair of couples bracelets just for him and her with their initials. When they broke up, he hadn't thought to get rid of the thing and it was left tucked away in his truck toolbox. Hopefully, it still had some of her scent left on it for the Betas to track.
"I've already put feelers out for every hotel in Blue Field. My reach is limited in Crater Point though." Alpha Robert explained.
"I've done the same in Sutton, though it's unlikely she's there. The pack would have mentioned if a human suddenly popped into town and stuck around for so long."
"What about your mines? The contractors shouldn't have arrived yet. We'll want to make sure she's not anywhere in that area before they start working."
"That was the first place we checked. But no, we haven't found anything."
Ryder kept trying to think of any new information that would help move the investigation along, but nothing was coming to mind.
"Then we'll keep in touch. And Ryder, let us know if you hear anything." Felix stood, ending the meeting.
Ryder had shot her dozens of texts, asking if she was alright. So far she hadn't responded.
Kendric and Adan escorted him back to the lot where the three of them stood around to catch up on everything. Kendric handed Ryder some papers. "From your classes."
"Thanks." He tucked them under his arm, but was in no mood to study. What was the point? There was no farm to inherit anymore. So why study anything? He'd just end up another country bumpkin no matter what he did.
The two men exchanged a look.
"We'll find her." Kendric tried to be reassuring. "It's only a matter of time. With three towns joining the search, I doubt it'll take long."
"Thanks." Ryder knew they were trying to comfort him. If Delilah did run away, then all he'd need to do was wait.
But if she was captured by the rogues, then there was so much more to worry about.
"I'll take him back home," Adan said. "I know you and Robert are splitting out between Blue Field and Crater Point. We only have Sutton to worry about, so I'll keep an eye on him."
For once, Kendric was the one being dragged around by his Alpha, and Adan was free to stick to Ryder's side.
"What was Robert talking about earlier?" Ryder asked. "He mentioned contractors."
"Ah. My uncle had a change of heart and decided to try working with Blue Field after all."
"So they're modernizing Sutton?"
"No. Sutton has a section of mines that are collapsing. And while we have the money for the repairs, we're very careful about letting humans work inside the pack's borders. Robert has a lot of contacts with other packs but is too deep in debt after modernizing Blue Field. So, since Alpha Felix has the money to pay off Blue Field's debt, Robert has offered to help Alpha Felix get in contact with other werewolves to fix the mines."
Ryder managed to discern that this meant that the two packs were starting to get along. On top of that, they were working together to help find his missing ex. "That's good."
