ׂ╰┈➤ Chapter 4 | Friends, Fun and Fumbles
────୨ৎ────
Monday arrived, and Jiwon was greeted by the usual chaos of her school morning. The chatter of her friends filled the air as they gathered at their usual hangout spot by the lockers
Eunji, with her vibrant personality and quick wit, was mid-rant about the latest K-drama she was obsessed with
“Seriously, can you believe the plot twist in last night’s episode? I’m still in shock!”
Sooyeon, always the peacemaker, laughed
“Eunji, you say that every week. Maybe we should just start a drama club at this point”
Sumi, who had a knack for tech and gadgets, was showing off her newest accessory—a pair of funky, oversized headphones
“Look at these beauties! They’re the latest thing. Got them from the new electronics store downtown”
Haeun, the group’s resident artist with a penchant for doodling, was sketching in her notebook
“Nice headphones, Sumi. But I’m more interested in drawing our next comic strip. What should we base it on? More school drama or something new?”
Jiwon joined in, her mind still partly on her weekend with Yeonjun
“How about we do something with our art class? I’ve been thinking about the exhibit I went to. It could be fun”
Eunji’s eyes lit up
“Oh, that sounds cool! We could turn it into a parody—like a high school version of an art critique”
“Perfect!”
Haeun said, grinning
“We could make the characters totally ridiculous”
As the conversation turned to their comic strip, Jiwon’s phone buzzed. She checked it quickly—Yeonjun had sent a message asking about meeting up again
Before she could respond, Seoyeon piped up
“So, how was the art exhibit with Yeonjun? You seemed pretty chill about it”
Jiwon shrugged, trying to keep her casual tone
“It was good. We had a pretty decent time, actually. He’s not as annoying outside of school”
“Wait, you mean he’s not a total pain?”
Eunji teased
“Next you’ll tell us he’s secretly a prince or something”
Jiwon rolled her eyes, laughing
“I’m not saying that. But he’s not bad. He actually knows a lot about art”
“Interesting”
Sumi said, adjusting her headphones
“So, does this mean we’re getting a new member for our comic crew? Should we expect some Yeonjun inspired sketches?”
Jiwon chuckled
“Don’t count on it. He’s not exactly the comic strip type”
The bell rang, signaling the start of classes. The group quickly made their way to their first period, their conversation filled with playful banter and excitement about their latest project
Later that day, Jiwon found herself sitting with Eunji and Seoyeon during lunch. They were crowded around a table, picking at their lunch boxes and chatting animatedly

“So, are you and Yeonjun, like, a thing now?”
Eunji asked, her tone both teasing and curious. Jiwon blushed slightly, shaking her head
“No, we’re just… hanging out. It’s not like that”
Seoyeon raised an eyebrow
“Just hanging out? You sure you’re not developing a secret crush?”
“Totally not!”
Jiwon protested, though she couldn’t completely hide her smile
“We’re just friends, okay?”
The conversation shifted to the latest school gossip and plans for the upcoming weekend. Jiwon found herself laughing along with her friends, the usual drama and excitement of their high school lives taking center stage
As they left the cafeteria, Jiwon spotted Sumi and Haeun talking animatedly about their latest comic strip ideas. Jiwon joined them, and the group continued to brainstorm and joke around, their laughter echoing through the hallways
Later that afternoon, Jiwon received another message from Yeonjun, suggesting they meet up to discuss a new exhibit he was excited about. Jiwon hesitated for a moment, then typed a quick reply, agreeing to meet. As she did, she felt a strange mix of anticipation and excitement

Walking home with her friends that day, Jiwon realized that while things with Yeonjun were still unfolding, she was grateful for the support and laughter her friends provided. Their playful teasing and shared moments made everything feel a little lighter, and she looked forward to the new experiences and adventures ahead
