ׂ╰┈➤ Chapter 12 | School Events

The school was buzzing with excitement as the annual festival approached. It was the biggest event of the year, where each class and club put together performances, booths, and games. Jiwon and her friends were right in the middle of it, juggling responsibilities between their homeroom's café project and the dance club's performance

Jiwon was in the hallway, balancing a stack of posters while trying to navigate through the crowd. Eunji, Seoyeon, Sumi, and Haeun walked beside her, chatting excitedly

"Did you see the guys from Class 2-B trying to build that haunted house?"

Eunji asked, her eyes wide with amusement

"It looks more like a junkyard right now"

Seoyeon laughed

"I know, right? They're going to scare people off before they even get inside"

"Speaking of scary"

Sumi chimed in

"have you heard about the rumor that if you confess to someone during the festival, it'll definitely come true?"

"Sounds like something straight out of a drama"

Haeun added, rolling her eyes playfully.

"But you never know... maybe it works"

Jiwon laughed along with them, but her mind drifted. The festival meant a lot of time spent at school, which meant more chances of running into Yeonjun and his group. Not that she was avoiding him-okay, maybe she was, just a little. Things had been weird lately, with their interactions feeling... different. She shook off the thought and focused back on her friends

"Let's just focus on getting through our performances without tripping over each other, okay?"

Jiwon said, trying to lighten the mood. The group giggled as they turned the corner toward the auditorium.

Meanwhile, across the courtyard, Yeonjun was hanging out with Beomgyu, Soobin, Taehyun, and Huening Kai, who were busy planning their class's game booth

"Why do we always end up with the most boring project?"

Beomgyu complained, lounging on one of the benches

"Because no one else wants to be stuck explaining rules all day"

Taehyun replied, smirking

"Besides, we can make it fun. Add a twist or something"

"Like what? Random dance breaks?"

Yeonjun suggested, half-joking

Huening Kai nodded enthusiastically.

"Actually, that's not a bad idea. We could challenge the players to a dance-off if they lose"

Soobin laughed

"And make fools of ourselves in the process? I'm in"

As the guys brainstormed ways to spice up their booth, Yeonjun glanced across the courtyard and noticed Jiwon and her friends. For a moment, he debated whether to go over and say hi, but decided against it. They'd been seeing enough of each other lately, and he didn't want to make things awkward. Besides, he had his own group to focus on

Later that afternoon, the two friend groups found themselves in the same space when their teachers called them in for a final event rehearsal. The air was thick with anticipation and a bit of friendly competition as the two groups exchanged glances

"So, you guys ready to lose to our café?"

Eunji teased as she handed out flyers

Beomgyu scoffed

"Lose? Please, we're bringing the heat this year"

Haeun grinned

"Good luck with that. Our café is going to be the highlight of the festival"

The banter continued as the students got into position for their rehearsals. Despite the rivalry, there was a sense of camaraderie-everyone was in this together, working towards making the festival a success

As Jiwon lined up with her friends, she couldn't help but notice Yeonjun across the room, joking with his group. She shook her head, trying to push away any unnecessary thoughts. This was about the festival, not whatever was going on between them

The rehearsal went smoothly, with both groups performing their roles flawlessly. The teachers nodded in approval, and by the end of it, everyone was buzzing with excitement for the big day

As they all started packing up to leave, Seoyeon nudged Jiwon.

"You know, if you don't take the chance to enjoy the festival, you're going to regret it later"

"Yeah, yeah"

Jiwon replied, rolling her eyes but smiling

"Let's just make sure we don't mess up the café first, okay?"

The group laughed as they headed out of the auditorium, their minds filled with plans and excitement for the upcoming festival. But as they walked, Jiwon couldn't shake the feeling that this year's festival might be different-like something big was just around the corner
