Mitsuki had urged me to go with the class shopping after Katsuki had been complaining about it. Although, I really didn't feel like going. I didn't deserve to go shopping and treating myself after failing our finale exam.

That's when I heard a familiar voice “You don't deserve nice things.” Stopping in my tracks, I looked around. “So much for you thinking that I wouldn't be able to get in your head.”

Taking steps backwards in hopes to escape her, chain came out and wrapped around me as my back hit something. She stepped out of the shadows and shook her head “So foolish. You really thought you could get rid of me.”

Looking over my shoulder, I saw I had hit the fencing of the malls second floor.

“Look over there, even your friends don't want to come help you. Shows how much they care.” I looked over to see the girls of my class looking over but stood still. That's when someone shouted “Let go of her.”

Ms Kobayashi looked away from me to Hanako. Seeing chains come from her other palm I flipped over the fence, falling towards the central floor of the mall. Closing my eyes, I embraced for impact but it never came.

Opening my eyes, I was met with the floor merely inches away from my face. Looking over my shoulder I saw the glass panel of one fence cracking as Ms Kobayashi yelled “No, I'm supposed to make your life a living hell. I won't let you get away so easily!”

I felt a tug on the chain around me and unravelled myself before sending the chain around a bench which was connected to the floor, then looking at an older couple who were moving towards the bench. I spoke to them “I don't recommend sitting there.” before jumping to the first floor, grabbing hold of the fence and lifting my body over to make my way to the stairs.

Reaching the second floor I moved over to the fence and asked “What are you so desperately holding onto?” Glancing down at Ms Kobayashi who was laid on the floor with her feet against the fences glass panel, she looked to me and yelled “You!”

She lifted one foot away from the glass and that's when it shattered, she slid along the floor but before she could fall I stepped onto the chain that came from her other hand.

She looked up at me and screamed angrily “I won't let you save me!” I saw the other chain tighten before the one under my foot wrapped around my ankle. My foot slipped and I fell to the floor, but someone grabbed my hand.

Looking behind me, I saw Hanako. I shook my head “Hanako, no! Let me go! You'll fall with us!”

“I can't just stand by and let you fall!” I tried to free my hand from hers as we both began to cry. She began to lose grip but just grabbed hold of my wrist with her other hand “I won't let you go!”

Mina then grabbed my other hand “Sorry it took me so long.” She was crying.

She then sent out acid and I felt the pull on my ankle cease. Looking down I noticed Ms Kobayashi stood on the ground. Hanako and Mina pulled me up, the two hugging me. Hanako saying “Don't ever tell me to let you go again, okay?” I nodded, letting my tears freely fall.

I then heard multiple yells of “Stop there!” and “You're under arrest.”

Opening the door to the pool I activated my quirk, resulting in three of my students going in to the pool.

After they had scurried away, I noticed Midoriya sat to the side. I decided to comment “You look particularly dry for having had a pool day.” She just gave a quick smile and I hummed “Have you been keeping up your training?” She nodded and I signalled to the pool “How about you have a go standing above the water then?” I noticed her eyes dart between me and the pool.

She got up “I'm feeling tired from having fun with the girls, is it okay if I-”

“Stand over the pool Midoriya. Try creating an upward and downward force.”

She got to the pool edge and put one foot over the water. Lifting her other from the ground she remained above the water. Eventually coming to stand with her feet together.

“See, you can do it. Now try take a step.”

After getting to around the middle of the pool she looked away from the water, her body stiffened and she fell into the water. I could see her thrash but not get any closer to the waters surface.

Taking my capture weapon and boots off, I dived in. Putting an arm around her, I pushed up and past the waters surface. She was gasping between her coughs, and her arms clung to me. Swimming over to the side, I grabbed hold of the edge to better keep us afloat as she was in no state to get herself out of the water and I weren't letting her go incase she fell to the bottom again.

“Midoriya, what happened on your last day of hero studies with Sir Nighteye?” I could see her looking around as she then choked out “She tried to drown me.”

I rested my chin on the top of her head and shushed her “It's okay, you're safe now.”

I was glad to not have lost a student but it pained me to know she was hurting, and not with a pain I could send her to Shuzenji for.

“You did well today, and every other day.” She shook her head and I felt her hands ball up into fists “I failed.” I shook my head “You didn't fail... Let's get out of the pool and talk about it, okay?” She nodded and moved towards the side, lifting herself up to be sat on the edge.

She was looking down. Before she could get up, I moved my now free hand to the other side of her, trapping her. Looking up at her I said “You didn't fail Midoriya.”

We locked eyes and I asked “You did your best at capturing Cementos and protecting Kirishima, right?” She nodded and wiped at her face “But it still wasn't enough.”

Letting out a breath, I moved to then lift myself out the water and sit next to her “Midoriya, in a real life fight someone else would have come in to aid you. Someone with the equipment and body armour to actually lay a hit on Cementos without breaking their own bones. Even with you being his sole focus you still managed to get away, and if it weren't for the time limit, Kirishima too. In a real fight, you would have got him to safety. The important part of being a hero.”

“But if he was a real villain, he would have gotten away.” I nodded.

“Yes, that might be so, but you'll always be more prepared to face the same opponent a second time... Being a hero isn't about taking down villains, it's about protecting and saving those that need it. You did that.”

She asked “I did?” I nodded and saw her lips curl into a small smile “You did.”
