Sitting on my bed, I looked around my new room. Yet another room to be barren.
Mitsuki and Masaru during my stay had offered to go furniture shopping or buy multiple presents for the celebrations I didn't get back with my blood family, but I couldn't accept.
I never thought positively of my mother or my relationship with her but the fact she signed away her rights really confirmed how she didn't have a care for me.
Hearing a knock on my door, I looked up to see Mina beaming a big smile as I had left my door open.
"We're neighbours now, isn't that so cool!" I hummed and faced forward again. After a moments silence Mina asked "Do you want a bookshelf? I bought a big one but it didn't fit with my room. Plus, I don't have that many books. Honestly don't know what I was thinking when I bought it!" She laughed slightly before asking "How about it?" Looking over towards her, I noticed the worried expression.
Not wanting her to worry, I smiled and nodded "Yeah, that sounds nice." She smiled "I'll go get it and I'll help you put it together!"
Sitting on the floor with Mina, we put together the flat packed bookshelf which was black. Once finished, with the help of my quirk, I moved it to be against the wall on the left of the door. It took up half the wall space, my chest of drawers then almost taking up the other half.
Mina then cheered "We make a good team! I should have had you helping me with some of my furniture, it sure would have been more fun!" I turned to her and offered "If you ever need help, don't be afraid to ask." She nodded whilst pointing at me "I'll hold you to that! Now, what are you going to put on this bookshelf?" She looked around my room but stopped to look at me again. I shrugged, taking a quick glance myself "I don't really know. I suppose what books I have can go on it."
Mina nodded before rushing out of the room, but before I could even think about her disappearance she came back and put her arm over my shoulder. She extended her arm out to hold up a polaroid camera. She called out "Cheese!" before the camera snapped.
It printed out the photo and Mina grabbed it, wafting it before showing it to me "We're just the cutest!"
She skipped over to the bookshelf and got it stood up against the wall behind, her having to stand it up repeatedly as it kept falling. Going over to the box I'd been unpacking, I brought out a framed photo of me with the Bakugo's.
They were having a family photo taken when Mitsuki saw me and called me over, having me brought into frame. I stood next Katsuki as his parents stood behind.
Going over to Mina, I put the photo on the shelf and then moved the polaroid photo over to be leant against it. She put her arm back over my shoulder, bringing me into her side, "Perfect!"

Opening my door, I was met with Ashido who didn't host her usual cheer. "Ashido, is everything alright?" She shook her head.
"Y/n, she's screaming and crying."
"Back to your room, I'll check that everything is okay."
We both rushed to the fourth floor, Ashido going back to her room as I went to the door next to hers. Knocking, I got not response but I could hear Midoriya crying inside.
Turning the handle, I pushed the door open and stepped inside, leaving the door open as to not leave us in private. Turning the light on, I moved closer to her bed "Midoriya, are you awake?" Nothing but sobbing came from the girl so I got beside the bed and continued to talk, hoping to rouse her from her less than peaceful slumber.
"Midoriya, I need you to wake up."
However, even once I was beside the bed, she still remained asleep. Deciding I had no other option, I brought my hand to her shoulder. Nudging her slightly, her eyes opened up.
I crouched, as to not loom over her, and said "Hey, you're okay. Everything's okay." She rubbed at her eyes but stopped to quickly wipe at her cheeks. I offered a sad smile and said "It's okay, it's normal to cry, no one is judging you for it."
After she got herself sat up and completely awake, I asked "Do you want to talk about it?"
"I've spoke of it before, what will talking about it again accomplish?"
I moved to sit next to her "Midoriya, speaking of it doesn't remove what has happened. You're going to have to live with what happened. Speaking about it will allow you to come to terms with it. Now, do you wish to talk about it, or are you okay to go back to sleep?"
She didn't provide a response so I went to stand but stalled when she asked "My mother, why did she sign her rights away?" I looked over my shoulder at her, making eye contact as she looked up at me. She then continued "Am I really that worthless?" I shook my head and sat back down.
Taking Midoriya's hands into mine, we looked at each other "You are not worthless, your mother is just careless. Stupid, even. You have to understand Midoriya, we can't go through life and have everybody like us, especially those that are quick to judge but not to consider where their own imperfections lie."
"But she's my mother. A mothers love is meant to be unconditional, so why are there terms and conditions for mine?" I let out and breath.
"This world and the people in it are cruel and unfair, sometimes there just isn't a reasonable answer. However, I assure you Midoriya, you are not the problem. You will find people that love and care for you, as you will them. They are the people who have your best interest in mind, so do not fret over those that do not care for they do not have you in mind." She wrapped her arms around me, crying into my chest. Patting her back, she asked "But how can I tell if they care?"
"They won't ever cause you pain. On the odd chance that they do, they'll work their ass off to make it up to you. Because, if they care, they wouldn't wish to lose you."
She made distance between us, looking up at me she asked "Do you care?" I nodded.
"Of course."
Without a second of thought, our lips connected. Reciprocating for a second before realizing what was actually happening.
I was kissing a student. My student.
Rushing up from my place on her bed, I looked back at her but shut my mouth, knowing it was as much my fault as hers.
Turning away, I left for my room.
