Chapter 7: Only you can Prevent Forest Ambushes (Part 1)

Start from the beginning

Morning comes, and school was about to begin. Students walk around the place talking to each other and gathering their supplies from their lockers while others simply hung out in the square in the center of the building. Much like what Aja and Krel were doing. "With four words, the Palchuk is gonna make your dreams come true." Steve says smoothly to Aja, brushing his golden hair back with his fingers in a confident way. "Me. You. Bon. Fire." He finishes, only making Aja a little confused.
"What's a bonfire?" She wonders, her brows furrowed with uncertainty. Instead of answering her question, Steve only takes it as a chance to continue his flirtatious offer.
"Without me? Exactly." He chuckles, leaning against the tree beside them. A leave falls into his face making him attempt to shake it off. He grabs it and pulls it off his face trying to continue his confident and nonchalant act. Aja turns around to see Krel tinkering with two random human electronics. One being a blender and the other an old dusty telephone. "Can I bring my little brother?" She asked genuinely.
Steve immediately shook his head with a frown. "What? No. Besides, my Vespa only carries two." The boy explains. Suddenly, Aja understands the reason behind Steve's sudden offer. A look of realization and amusement appeared on her face as she smiled. "Oh! This is a local courting ritual. You are asking me on a date." Aja claims, making Steve retract nervously.
"What?! No!" Steve denied, but immediately changes his answer. "Maybe?" He added sheepishly. Steve pulls his phone out of his pocket and began to text someone to avoid eye contact. "It's a group thing." Steve explains quickly, trying to seem like he was uninterested or that he wasn't desperate for Aja to accept his invite.
"Okay then. I have to go somewhere else now." Aja tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before following what Steve was doing and pulled out her own phone, playing around with it as the two slowly backed away from each other with their eyes focused on their screen.
"Okay. I'll, uh, I'll pick you up at seven. On my Vespa. For the group thing!" Steve says with a nervous smile. Aja laughs lightheartedly, looking away from her phone and up at Steve one last time before turning around in the direction of Krel.
"Little brother, sorry I can't work on the daxial array tonight." Aja apologizes to Krel, walking beside him to class. "The blond and primitive oaf asked me to go to a bon-bon fire party." She explains with a smile, continuing to type on her phone. "Aha! He has what the humans call a 'crush' on you." Krel says.
"Of course! I must have crushed something when I kicked him in the face." Aja concurred with her brother confidently. "Human dating customs are very strange. We'll have to learn more from (y/n) if we intend to fully understand it." Krel added. "Speaking of which, where is (y/n)?"
The two siblings look around and spot (y/n) speaking with the fake model student Yvonne. Aja frowns deeply, and Krel crosses his arms. The two of them remembering the clear aggression between the two humans. It didn't take long for them to connect that this Yvonne was an enemy of sorts to (y/n). However as the two approched closer, wondering what they were bickering about now, they were suprised to see no malice or aggression between them.

"You... made this for me?" Yvonne asked, looking at the hand crafted choker (y/n) gifted her. It made with a very delicate and fancy black fabric strip with a golden heart trinket hanging on the front. "I remember you telling your friends you broke your old choker during cheer practice. So I made you a new one." (y/n) confirmed sincerely, placing it in Yvonne's hands. (y/n) knew that her and Yvonne never got along, and there were so many times when she just wanted to slap the smug looks off the redhead's face. But (y/n) believed that the best way to get rid of an enemy was to make them your friend. (FRIENDSHIP IS LAMEEEE) So that was what she was planning to do. A small redness appeared on Yvonne's cheeks, making her fake cough into her fist when realized she was staring at the weird girl in front of her for a moment too long. Yvonne down casted her blue eyes to her shoes. "Thanks I guess. I don't have anything to..." she paused with realization. She reached for her pocket and handed (y/n) a slip of paper. "There's uh... a bon-fire party happening tonight. Here's the place we're heading to. You can join us... or whatever." (y/n) took the slip of paper and looked down at the words. Mainly where it was at. "Huh, thanks." (y/n) responds after a moment with clear hesitation, looking up at Yvonne with appreciation. The redhead didn't acknowledge her, and if she did she was trying to avoid eye contact. Instead Yvonne took out her phone and much like Steve, began to text someone else to look uninterested. "...Whatever. Bye." She repeated again, walking away from (y/n) with her reddened face inches away from her hand held devices screen.
