It was as if nothing had changed, but on the same time everything had. Alison and I hadn't told anyone about our impromptu marriage yet, and it felt nice to actually have something for ourselves nobody knew about. My life had been in the spotlights for years, and I still didn't know how to feel about everything everyone seemed to know about me.
Not even the lads had noticed the anything, despite us wearing our wedding rings while we were around them. But we all were just to busy with wrapping up the album for release, and planning new tour dates for this summer - we might even tag along Warped again.
They only cooed and complained about us being loving towards another when we were in the studio. I didn't care; I was used to be made fun of by them. Alison just laughed and ignored them, or threw back a witty remark that made them laugh even harder.
Besides the band, we hadn't seen anyone else yet. We had stayed in bed in our free time, talking about future dreams and past mistakes, and everything trivial in between. I learned her birthday was June first, and that was why her second name was June. If she had been born a bit earlier, her second name would have been May.
I loved getting to know every little detail about her, wondering why I had never asked those things before. I guess we were just off on an intense start and never really had the time for the less important things...
Just to get a little celebratory feel to our start as a married couple, I had agreed to go out for dinner, and Alison and I had enjoyed the night at a restaurant down town. But despite the happy feeling in the past days, I had a hard time being around other people today. Luckily she managed to calm me down and made me feel a little less anxious. Eventually, I had somehow started to enjoy myself and my mood had lifted when Alison complimented me for going out with her.
She had opted our date this afternoon, tricking me in going out with her by saying she would wear her new black dress, and I had no other option than to say yes.
She looked hot in her dress, there was no other way to put it. As I was driving home, my eyes often trailed off to her; she was scrolling her phone, the bright light lighting up her beautiful make-upped face and her long, curled hair. The sight of her long, bare legs and the skin hugging dress drove me insane, and I really wanted to be home quick.
Her phone dinged and I saw her frowning her eyebrows when she opened a message.
'Oh...,' she muttered, staring at her screen.
'What?,' I asked, dividing my attention between the road and Alison.
'Eh...' She sighed and put her phone away. 'Nothing.' Her gaze met mine and she smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes.
'Something's up, I can see it. What's wrong?' I placed my hand on her thigh and she inhaled, looking at my hand on her skin.
'Brian texted me...' Well, that was something I didn't expect. 'He found some stuff of mine while he was cleaning out our apartment since he's moving out, and he... He asked me if I could come and pick it up somewhere next week.' She scraped her throat and grabbed her phone again.
'Are you?' My question lingered in the air for a long moment.
'Well, yeah... I mean, it's my stuff and I want it back.' I pulled my hand back from her leg and bit my thumbnail while hitting the gas pedal a little harder. The car sped up as I chewed the inside of my cheek just to keep myself from saying things that I would regret as soon as they left my mouth. 'Oli, watch the speed limit, please.' Alison stared at me, but I didn't listen to her. I didn't want her to go see Brian again, not even to pick up her stuff. I didn't want her to go back to the guy she had spent years with, the one who helped her through a rough time in her life. Although she had said she never loved him as she loved me, I knew Brian still had a soft spot in her heart. What if he tried to talk her right back in his arms? What if saying he still had some of her stuff was just a trick to lure her back to him? What if she fell for it and realized she still loved him more than she loved me? What if she thought she had made a huge mistake by marrying me because I couldn't give her what she wanted and he could, and she left and -
