Alison
'What the fuck was he talking about?!,' Oliver demanded when we got in the car. He stared at me intensely, and I looked down at my hands.
'I don't know,' I answered, hoping that if I played dumb he'd believe me and let the topic go. But of course he didn't. Knowing Oliver, he'd get to the bottom of this.
'You're lying. Alison, tell me what he meant.'
'I already told you once,' I whispered.
'What? When?'
'A few weeks ago, when you asked me where I got that scar on my belly from...' I saw him frown his face.
'What do I have to do with that?!'
'Look Oli, I don't want to talk about it, okay? Not know. Just drive to my parents, please,' I sighed and I hid my face in my hands.
'No, we're going to talk about this right now!' I shook my head and jumped a little when Oliver grabbed my hands and pulled them away from my face. His eyes were hard and cold, and he looked angry and annoyed. 'Why did he say that I was the one who fucked you over first? What did I do to you according to him that made you depressed? How is that even possible? I mean, we haven't met before you did the Drop Dead shoot, have we?' He was wide eyed now, holding the palms of his hands up for an explanation. 'Talk to me!,' he said loudly, making me flinch and tearing up.
'Oli, I...' I closed my eyes and tried to calm the nerves in my guts down, finding a way to begin explaining to him what Brian meant. 'Brian and I go way back; we were neighbors when we were studying at the Art Academy, and we... We've been best friends for a long while. He had always been interested in me, but I brushed him off a few times and -'
'I'm not asking for the history of you and Brian,' Oliver said in annoyance.
'Just listen, okay! Jesus...' I rolled my eyes and leant back in my seat. 'Anyway, my friend Lilian and I threw a New Year's party a few years ago in our dorm and eh...' The look in Oliver's eyes changed a little from angry to something like recognition. 'You were there too.' I looked up to him to watch his reaction, and his eyes went wide before he frowned and sat back in his seat.
'I remember that one, vaguely...' He stared at the roof of the car, visibly summarizing his thoughts for a moment. 'I remember I was there with the lads because a friend of me invited us, and we played a few songs in the hall and we... Oh my God! You were the girl on the roof, weren't you?' His eyes met mine and a smirk tugged at the end of his lips. I gulped and nodded, not returning his smile.
'What more do you remember?,' I asked him softly. He pouted and shrugged.
'It's all a bit blank after that. I remember waking up with a fucking painful hangover, and I lost my favourite hoodie.' I huffed a little and furrowed on my sleeves. 'Why? What happened?' His demeanour had changed from defensive to a little insecure and worried.
'We eh... We ended up having sex and I -' I heard Oliver snort and I threw him a dark look. 'I'm trying to tell you something important here, Oliver! For fuck's sake!'
'I'm sorry! Go on, please.' I shot him another look and brought my eyes back to my hands in my lap, unable to look at him while telling the worst part about this story, inhaling deeply before I started.
'You gave me an STD.' Total silence next to me. Oliver didn't even seem to breathe anymore, and as I looked up at him, he cocked his head and frowned his face a little. There was no sign on his face of his laugh anymore.
'I what?!'
'I got a really bad infection and only realized when it was almost too late.' I always thought that this moment would be much harder, but I was surprised at how easy it was to say those words. Probably because I had told them before, even to Oliver. 'I've spent two weeks in the hospital, I almost lost my life because of septic shock and they took out my fallopian tubes to save me.' I had also always thought that telling this would make me emotional as fuck, but I didn't even feel the need the shed a single tear about it, like I had done when I had told Tom the same story on the roof of the bus months ago.
