Gallops of Love and Glimmers of Forever**
The morning sun had barely stretched over the domes of the Jaipur City Palace when the crisp sound of hooves clattering echoed in the palace courtyard. Aashna had woken early, dragging a half-asleep Rihi with her to explore the yard. Both girls were still in their soft cotton night kurtis, their hair tied in lazy buns, unaware of what awaited them outside.
As they stepped onto the stone veranda, Rihi gasped, spotting the magnificent Marwari horses being brought out for a ride. They stood tall and elegant, their ears curled inward, their hooves polished, and saddles decorated in vibrant local fabrics. Rihi’s eyes sparkled. “I remember these beasts. We had training with them during that camp in Dehradun.”
Aashna gave her a skeptical look. “We had? You mean *you* had. I was busy avoiding their teeth.”
Just then, their eyes widened as a regal sight galloped into view.
Three horses trotted into the courtyard—on them sat none other than Shubman, Abhishek, and Padmanabh Singh. Clad in tight white jodhpuri breeches, glossy black riding boots, and fitted high-neck t-shirts that hugged their athletic frames, they looked like they had walked straight out of a royal calendar. Shubman had sunglasses on, his hair tousled to perfection, while Abhishek rode with a cocky smirk, twirling his riding crop in one hand.
Padmanabh, ever the prince, rode in ease, his grace as fluid as the morning wind.
Rihi groaned. “Of course, they’d show up like royal grooms at 7 am.”
Aashna muttered, “And make us look like underdressed villagers.”
The boys circled their horses around the girls, teasing them.
“You ladies lost in our stables?” Shubman asked with a grin.
“Want a ride, officer?” Abhishek teased, winking at Aashna.
Padmanabh laughed. “Careful, ladies. They’ve already scared away three of my stablehands with their drama.”
The girls rolled their eyes, but the gleam in them betrayed their amusement.
“You two are insufferable,” Rihi said.
“We’re irresistible,” Shubman corrected.
With a dramatic sigh, the girls gave in. Shubman slid back slightly on his horse and offered his hand to Rihi. With a practiced motion, he pulled her up in one swift tug, her yelp lost in laughter.
“Shubman!”
“Hold on, sweetheart,” he whispered close to her ear, wrapping one arm around her waist.
Abhishek repeated the same with Aashna, who at first resisted but then gave a smug smirk. “If we fall, I’m blaming you.”
“I’ll catch you mid-air,” Abhishek said, pressing a kiss on her temple.
Padmanabh dismounted with a knowing smile. “I’ll leave you lovebirds to your drama. I’ll go train the *non-hormonal* horses.”
They spent the next hour riding slowly through the palace estate. The morning air was fresh, the birds sang in symphony, and the rustling trees bore witness to their whispered teases and flirtations.
Rihi leaned back. “Didn’t think you knew how to ride.”
“Didn’t think I knew how to love either, till I met you,” Shubman whispered, making her go pink.
Aashna elbowed Abhishek. “You always plan these fairy-tale mornings?”
“Only when I’m madly in love with a commanding woman,” he grinned.
After the ride, they regrouped for lunch with Padmanabh and Gauravi in one of the palace courtyards. An authentic spread awaited—Laal Maas, Bajre ki Roti, garlic chutney, ker sangri, and thick creamy lassi. The group dug in while laughter flowed easily.
“So,” Padmanabh said, “how long before one of you cracks and proposes?”
Aashna choked on her lassi. Rihi went red. Shubman simply grinned.
Later that afternoon, Shubman pulled Abhishek and Aashna aside.
“I’m doing it,” he said. “I’m going to ask her to marry me.”
Aashna clutched his arm. “Are you serious?!”
Abhishek gave him a proud slap on the back. “Finally!”
“I’ve made arrangements in Udaipur. A lakeside hotel. Intimate. Magical.”
“You’re going all out, aren’t you?” Aashna smiled.
“She waited five years. She deserves a lifetime,” Shubman said quietly.

That evening, as the sky turned amber, Shubman snuck away. He left a note for Rihi saying he was heading for a short errand with Padmanabh. Aashna covered for him.
He reached Udaipur by midnight, and the next morning, he began setting up. He’d already scouted the lakeside royal hotel—a palace turned boutique haven—and called in a favor from one of Padmanabh’s jeweler friends. The ring: a fine blend of gold, delicate jaali work, and a central diamond shaped like a blooming lotus, surrounded by kundan droplets.
By noon, he contacted the rest of their gang—Komal, Shahneel, Ishan, Agnidev, and Khushpreet.
In a group chat named "Mission: Shaadi Prep," he texted:
**Shubman:** "Need you all in Udaipur tomorrow. No questions. Big moment."
**Shahneel:** "YOU BETTER NOT BE DYING."
**Komal:** "Are you *finally* proposing to the queen of patience?"
**Khushpreet:** "We’re coming. Bags packed. Bring tequila?"
**Agnidev:** "Bhai, main baraati banunga. Suit ready."
**Ishan:** "Please don’t faint while proposing."
By evening, the suite at the hotel was glowing with fairy lights. A pier overlooking Lake Pichola was set with a canopy, petals lining the path, candles floating in glass bowls, and soft instrumental music playing on loop. Every little detail screamed royalty—but understated, just like Rihi.
Shubman stood at the edge of the pier, breathing in the evening wind, clutching the small velvet box.
He looked toward the distant hills and whispered, “Let her say yes.”
