Bucky Barnes x Reader - Marvel

A light smile was displayed on your face as you tapped your fingers lightly to the beat of the music pumping through Tony Stark's speakers. Tony was infamous for his huge, meaningless parties, so he would never pass up the opportunity to go all out for a party that actually celebrates something. So, every New Year's Eve, he invites everyone he knows- and doesn't know- to party into the new year.

The bartender slid you your drink of choice and you thanked her with a smile. She nodded pleasantly in response, wiping down the bar where a tipsy man had just left to dance. You raised the drink to your lips and took a sip, looking around the room in amusement. You had to admit, Tony knew how to throw a party. Large 2016 glasses were sat on the bar next to you, an assortment of colorful beaded necklaces decorating your neck. You wore a casual (Y/F/C) dress along with some simple flats. Your makeup was a simple smokey eye that Wanda and Natasha had helped you with. Your entire look was centered around their obsession with you and your crush- Bucky Barnes.

They were sure that he liked you back, and they would constantly come to you with evidence that they were correct. You were beginning to believe them, as you had seen some signs yourself, so you had allowed them to figure out what you would wear tonight.

You had yet to see Bucky, and you were getting worried. It was 10 PM, you only had 2 hours until midnight. In a worried scramble, you stood and made your way around the outskirts of the room to search for any signs of Bucky's presence. Finally, a certain blonde super soldier caught your eye.

"Steve! Sam!" You shouted over the music as you maneuvered your way through the waves of people dancing to the beat of the music. Steve's head shot up at the sound of his name, blue eyes searching the sea of people until they rested on you. He smiled and gave a small wave as ou finally made it to the quiet corner where he stood with the Falcon.

"Hey (Y/N), what's up?" Sam greeted cheerfully. His voice was raised just enough for it to reach each of you. You smiled back, but the stress behind your eyes was there for all to see.

"Hey, have you guys seen Bucky anywhere?" You asked. Sam's eyebrows furrowed at your question.

"Come to think of it, I actually haven't. Where's he run off to?" Sam wondered aloud. Steve, however, looked a bit more calm about the situation.

"He was a little on the fence about coming. He hasn't been back for very long, he hasn't been around the party scene since the 40's, so this is probably a little wild for him." Steve's voice was steady as he spoke, and he looked you in the eyes with a warm smile. If you hadn't fallen for another blue eyed super soldier, you were sure that his friendly and polite smile would melt you. But instead of melting at his casual and usual actions, you gave a quick nod and a smile in return.

"Alright. Thanks guys, happy new year." The two men responded with the usual, "happy new year," as you walked away from them and straight out the door. You wandered down the halls of Stark Tower,  mindlessly making your way towards the exit through the corridors that you know oh-so-well. You paid no mind to the dozens of intoxicated lovers scattered about the building. Instead you walked right by them, as you were on a mission that was much more important than your jealousy. You were on a mission to save the Winter Soldier.

You finally made it out of the lobby and into the cold night air of New York. You wrapped your arms around yourself in an attempt to stay warm as you made your way to the shared apartment of Bucky and Steve. You stood at the door, contemplating whether you should knock or not.

You finally decided on the former of the two options, rapping your knuckles against the wooden door. A gruff, "one moment," was uttered from behind the barrier, followed by footsteps that quickly grew nearer and nearer. The door flew open and your eyes met the deep blue of a clean shaven, suit clad Bucky Barnes. His eyes widened as he realized who was truly standing at the door.
