07: An Abundance of Thieving

Start from the beginning

"Do as we say so you won't get killed." Mick finished with an intimidating glare. Meg nodded slowly, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"Roger that." Ray sighed as the heat and ice duo headed for the door. Meg closed her eyes briefly, reassuring herself that this will go as planned, even though the last one didn't and it was partially her fault.

The four of them exited the Waverider, looking around for the address Gideon gave them. The house was pretty distinct, so hopefully it'll pop up soon so the group could get this over with.

"Meg, you okay?" Ray asked a little awkwardly as they walked through the cool night air in St. Roch. Meg laughed briefly, still rubbing her sore wrist.

"I'm fine... just sore." Meg shrugged.

"Really?" Ray furrowed his brows together, "Are you sure there's not something else on your mind?"

"Well, 2016 is in danger because of us and my powers are out of control.. So pretty good." Meg said sarcastically, staring up at the starry night sky. How she wished she could go back to Star City where the most exciting thing in her life was taking walks at midnight.

"The only reason your powers are out of control is because you don't believe in them. You're scared of them." Ray explained to her.

"I could hurt someone. If you weren't wearing your-"

"I'm fine, Meg. You need to start having trust in yourself. I may not know you well, but having trust in yourself is something that will really help you. I trust you, and I believe in you- so I'm not worried you'll hurt any one of us." He shrugged. Meg smiled, feeling eased at his fairly chosen words.

"Thanks. I needed that." She said, fixing her stare at the streets.

"There's the house. Now will Tom and Jerry back there shut it or your tongues will be frozen to the spot." Snart said, confidently strolling towards the house.

"Sorry." Ray apologized, lowering his voice so no one can hear them if there happened to be someone in the house.

The four of them approach a small box, most likely some sort of security thing. Ray smiled, recognizing the box. He walked over to it, opening the lid.

"They have he same security system my parents had in their house. If I can just flip the switch here and- voila!" He said triumphantly. Snart sighed, shutting the box with a bit of agitation.

"That there Raymond was a fool's box. By doing what you just did alerted the security. Congrats." Snart clapped his hands, turning to meet the guards approaching them.

Mick and his comrade were easily able to take out the three guards as if it was nobody's business. Exchanging a look with Ray, Meg looked uneasily back at Mick and Snart. Those two have certainly done their fair share of theiving.

"Let's go. Mick and Red- keep watch by the door, let us know when someone's coming." Snart instructed. Nodding her head, Meg stood just inside the entrance of the house. Ray and Snart headed inside while Mick stood grumbling.

"I ain't playing puppy-guard with her." He sighed. Meg raised an eyebrow, rubbing her sore wrist nonchalantly.

"The feelings are mutual, Heat Miser." She retorted, leaning against the doorway as she watched for anyone approaching.

"Just stay there, okay? We'll be back ASAP." Ray reassured the heat-maniac and red head. Mick leaned against the doorway as he watched the patio with a blank expression. Meg mimicked his position, studying the area carefully around them.

The cars along the street were old fashion, like walking into Grease. Meg's gaze wandered into the interior of the house. It was simple, old fashioned- even for the seventies. There seemed to be a lot of security around the house- all of which had been hacked. Letting out a bored low-toned whistle, Meg hoped that Ray and Snart would return soon. She didn't like the vibes this house was giving her.

The thought of keeping watch went down the drain when Meg remembered what Ray had said to her. To have confidence. That's easy for him to say, he's got billions of dollars simply because he's smart, charming, and knows how to wow a crowd with words. Meg is more of the shy type. She never really had many friends simply because her condition weirded them out. It's always just been her- she's not used to working with a team.

Well, maybe she should try. Margaret doesn't have that much experience working with a team, or even fully trusting someone. She thought that maybe she should start trusting them... it was her who convinced them all to stay anyway.

The sound of a whistle brought Meg out of her thoughts. Mick straightened himself up, looking in the direction of the sound. Meg's hands tingled as she concentrated on calling her powers. Maybe she could do it this time without blacking out or falling asleep.

But as Meg tried to ease her nerves- the whistling or talking in the distance didn't help. She recognized the voice easily- it was the same one that tried to sell them them that missile.

"Mick- he's here." She said nervously, looking towards the criminal with worried eyes. The dark and light barely flickered in Margaret's hands, which unsettled her even more. She needed something to defend herself with- Mick wasn't exactly keen on helping out.

"I see someone has broke into my house. Well you two look familiar. Some... more than others." Savage sneered, sending Meg a wicked look. He approached them menacingly, his goons on either side of him.

"Get lost Savage or I'll be forced to shove my gun down your throat." Mick said, holding his heat ray. The tyrant laughed, then turned to Meg.

"Ah, Margaret, the girl with magic. I know you." He grinned. A hand covered Meg's mouth a something hard connected with the side of her head. A few sparks of light squirt from her hands, her jaw clenched and body trembling. Margaret's legs gave out, and she slumped forward on her knees. Slow trickles warm blood dripped down the side of her face.

Savage lifts up his hand, and like using the force, starts to magically choke Meg. She gasps, trying to catch her breath, but only found herself dizzy. No matter how much she struggled did it stop- even when she tried to use her powers.

"Shall we go and meet your friends?"
