By the time Meg woke up, everyone was outside on the roof where they all met in Star City. Carefully, she sat up, her copy of And Then There Were None on the ground next to her, the picture of her family tucked inside. The team around her looked pissed, making the redhead hesitant to move.
"What happened?" She asked groggily rising to her feet.
"Rip's leaving us. He said there was nothing else to do because Savage is lost to History." Sara said bitterly, folding her arms.
"So that's it then? He's just leaving us- letting Savage have Carter and Kendra to his disposal all throughout history?" Meg asked, feeling the distress rising in the pit of her stomach.
"I'm sorry, Meg, but yeah." Ray said, putting a hand on her shoulder. Meg shook her head, looking shocked at the ground.
"There has to be another way. We have to stop Savage. No way in hell am I going to let him get away with this." Meg breathed.
"Meg-"
"We have to find a way to get back to that ship. I don't care if we have to keep Rip hostage on it but it will happen. For all we know he's killing all of our younger selves right now."
"Meg-"
"What!" The redhead exclaimed, running a hand through her hair- her bloodshot eyes frantically searching the faces of her teammates for an answer.
"Please, just calm down. We know that Savage is still out there, but right now there's nothing we can do except try and go back to our normal lives." Ray shrugged.
"Nothing about any of our lives is normal! And if some of your lives are.... how will we even go back to them after an experience like this?!Some of us don't even have a life to go back to." Meg sighed, thinking of the empty, dusty apartment she'd have to go back to, which probably wasn't even hers anymore. She hadn't paid rent since before she left, "Did Rip even think-"
"Margaret." Ray put his hands on Meg's shoulders, "Just stay with me, okay? I have plenty of room."
The rest of the team slowly started to clear away, going back to their lives before they joined the team. Meg's cheeks reddened as she glanced down at her feet. She shook her head.
"Ray- I can't do that.. I don't want to be a burden." Meg said. In the light- you could see how tired she really was as she rubbed her eyes.
"You'd never be a burden." Ray grabbed her hand, "Besides, your apartment is on the other side of town, and you haven't slept properly in days. I'll call Felicity and she can pick us up."
Meg nodded her head, straining to keep her eyes open properly. She truly was exhausted, both physically and mentally. The only time she was "asleep" was if she was unconscious... which didn't exactly count. The redhead grabbed onto Ray's hand with hers, tucking her book under her arm.
As they walked out onto the street, he brought Meg to a bench on the sidewalk.
"When I wake up- we will get back to Rip and stop Savage- even if it is the last thing I do." The redhead yawned groggily as she plopped down onto the bench. Ray took a seat next to her, kissing her forehead.
"You need to sleep, Meg. Trust me." He stroked her red hair gently.
Margaret looked down as a small blush rose to her cheeks, watching the cars go by peacefully. Although she wanted to finish the mission.... This was quite nice. The peacefulness- the quiet. Not having to worry about anything.
