With a heavy head, Margaret finally woke up. Her left temple throbbed terribly, and her muscles felt wobbly and useless. She looked around- her breathing heavy as she realized none of what happened was a dream. They were captured by Valentina and Savage.
The room she was trapped in was almost pitch black. Her wrists were chained tightly, the metal pinching around her pale wrists.
As she gained more and more awareness, Meg realized just exactly how cold it was. Her arms were covered in goosebumps, and her breath was visible in the dark. The temperature must have been at most 30 degrees, and all she was wearing was a simple jacket and t-shirt.
Where the hell was she? And what happened to Dr. Stein, Snart, Ray, and Mick? Meg sat up slowly, wrapping her cold hands around herself.
Despite the darkness, Meg could still vaguely make out what was around her. The room seemed like any old laboratory, littered with papers and test tubes. Her arms were chained to thick iron bars- surrounding her like some sort of cage.
"I see you have woken up Margaret." An all too familiar voice hissed in the dark. Meg went still, steadily bringing herself to her feet in the darkness. She tried to get closer to the voice, but her chains wouldn't let her go any further. When she tried to conjure up some sort of light beam to use. Nothing worked.
"What did you to me? And what did you do with the others?" She asked, trying to remain calm. Although the cuff Rip designed still remained around her wrist, Meg needed stay relaxed incase they took it away from her.
Vandal Savage appeared from within the shadows, a wicked grin plastered on his malicious features. Margaret's blood went cold.
"Oh, don't you worry, I've only given your powers a little time out. They'll be back... eventually. And you're friends... well they will be taken care of. I'm more curious about this whole crusade you seem to be on, and how your powers came to be." Savage elaborated, staring right into Meg's eyes. She looked down at her feet uneasily, visibly shivering.
Her mouth stayed shut- not wanting to spill any information she shouldn't. Savage wasn't going to get any information from her any time soon.
"Oh, it's fine if you don't talk. I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help with that." Savage nodded his head over to three people. One was Valentina Vostok, another was the man who held the cloth to her face in the other lab, and the other one was burley with tools stuck into his belt.
"You're wasting your time. I don't know anything." Meg said, almost being entirely honest. She glared at the four others- who stared at her intently. Was Meg terrified? Very. Extremely. She didn't want to know what was in store for her- or what happened to the others.
"She has the powers. I saw them." Valentina said smugly, flashing a smile that didn't quite seem to reach her eyes. Meg gulped, shakily reaching up a hand to tuck a piece of deep red head behind her ear.
"Dr. Stein was asking about you and your comrades. He seemed to have faith you won't tell me how you got these powers. You do know." Savage pulled a key out from his pocket, and unlocked Meg's cage door, and her chains. Two men walked in, taking the shackles off of her wrists. They dragged the red head out by her arms.
"I don't know how I got these. I was in a car accident and just woke up with them." Meg explained, pulling her arms out of their rough grips. Savage looked at Meg, into her eyes, smiling evilly.
"She's lying." He said, turning to Valentina, "I have business elsewhere. Make sure you get some answers involving this and that... other matter."
Vandal turned to Meg.
"Margaret- I wouldn't get into any funny business- or the next Forensic Anthropology you'll be involved in is when they're scraping up your remains."
With that- Savage left the room- leaving Meg shell-shocked. How did he know what she did for a living? Meg had been one to lay low for the past few years, working for small companies and agencies.
Valentina walked up to Margaret in her little red peacoat, a smug smile on her face. She studied Meg, searching for her weak spot as the guards gripped her arms once again.
"Have our little ginger friend sit down please." She ordered. Immediately, her two comrades pulled out a chair, restraints on the foot and arm rests. They forced Meg to sit, securing her arms and ankles in place.
"Dr. Stein knows about Firestorm, but he will not tell me about it. You are his friend, so you must know something about it." The Russian scientist stated. Meg glanced up at her- letting out a shiver.
"Firestorm? Only the name is familiar." Meg stated, the lump in her throat riding. It was half of the truth, but not the half that Valentina needed.
She nodded at the men, and one of them walked over to Meg. He nodded to his other buddy- who carried a bucket.
Water was poured onto Meg- soaking her clothes and hair to the bone. The cold air seemed to get even chillier when she was soaking wet- causing her teeth to chatter. She gasped, blinking away water from her eyes.
"This is barely even the easy way. Tell me what I need to know or things will get harder for you." Valentina shrugged.
Meg, shivering, pulled on the restraints, anger surging through her veins. Anger surged through her like a wildfire, causing her to slowly burn through the restraints with her powers.
As she got to her feet, seething, the men grabbed her arms tightly, pulling them back. Meg's head was forced backward as a fist connected with her face. She pulled, eyes wide with fear, just wanting to get away.
"Come on- do your worst." Meg groaned, anger flaring in her wide green eyes.
The men sent her to the floor, having Meg land hard on her hands and knees. More freezing cold water was dumped onto her, making her shiver even more. Feet smashed into her ribcage, leaving Meg shaking and limp on the cold ground.
"Your powers, Margaret. Where did they come from? Who gave them to you?" Valentina asked, using a sharp fingernail to jerk Meg's head up to meet her eyes.
The red head's mouth clamped itself shut, glaring harder at her. Vostok thought for a moment, and then turned back to her friends.
She gave them a curt nod- and the men busied themselves quickly. One held Meg down roughly, while the other grabbed some supplies.
Meg, who was facing the floor, didn't know what was going on until her jacket was yanked off and her t-shirt lifted slightly. Hot metal pressed into her side, causing Meg to let out a blood-curling scream. The smell of her burning flesh reached her finger tips, resulting in gagging between the screams. Another white-hot rod was stuck onto her side.
The pain was completely unbearable- because for every time she struggled to get out, there was another hard kick in her side. She screamed until her throat ached, and banged her fists onto the ground until they turned bloody.
Out of breath from beating Meg into a pulp, the guards were bored- looking for more fun. One brought the red head to her feet, and the other took something from Valentina.
A syringe.
The needle was injected roughly into her neck, the liquid pushed into her body. The strange liquid burned incredulously as soon as it entered Meg's body, causing her to shake and scream.
Her vision slowly reduced to nothing, and her hearing stopped suddenly. The only thing Meg felt was pain- pain of the serum, and pain of her body being thrown back into her cell. She shook and sputtered, blood falling from a cut on her cheek from when she was punched.
Valentina and her two comrades left her, soaking wet, bruised severely, burned, and bloody. Meg's screams carried throughout the entire gulag that she was trapped in.
And little did she know- that the team could hear her screams.
Meg curled into a ball, shivering and shaking as she cried to herself.
She couldn't see.
She couldn't hear.
But she knew it was going to be one hell of a long night.
