Ray sat Meg down on the counter in the bathroom, using a damp cloth to wipe the black paint from her face and clean the cuts on her cheeks.
"I'm sorry." Meg said numbly, her voice shaky from recently crying, "For everything."
He smiled, tossing the damp rag in the sink once he finished. Ray kissed Margaret's forehead gently, "Don't be sorry, Meg. It was never your fault."
The redhead blushed, the warmth rising to her cheeks and tingly forehead. Quickly, she hopped off the counter, grabbing the bundle of clothes that Ray had grabbed for her. Her suit.
With red cheeks and a shy smile, Meg pushed Ray out the door so she could change- closing the door behind him. Quickly she slipped off the bulky, uncomfortable uniform she wore and put on the suit Cisco had made for her. Meg then brushed out her teased hair and pulled it into a plain ponytail.
As the Metahuman opened the door, Ray fished something from his pocket, holding it up so Meg could see.
"I'm pretty sure you need this." He said, holding the glass prism out to her. Margaret went to grab it, but the Atom put a hand up in protest, and placed the necklace around her neck himself.
"Thank you." Meg smiled, sniffling away the last of her tears.
The pair walked back to the main deck of the Waverider hand in hand, where the rest of the team was gathered... minus Kendra and Carter. A comforting silence surrounded them.
"Meg- glad to have you back." Rip chimed. The redhead offered one of her signature timid smiled, but found herself looking ashamedly at her feet. How could she make it up to them?
By stopping Savage- that's what.
Good plan.
"Okay... So what are we planning to do? What's the next move?" Ray asked, his ATOM helmet tucked under his arm.
"We have to destroy that thing." Sara said, "The Oculus! They can control our every move if we don't."
"And we have to get Kendra and Carter back before Savage can kill them or use them as apart of his plan." Meg added suddenly- as if the information came rushing back to her.
"What plan?" Jax asked, "He must have told you when you were... you know."
Meg nodded, paling at the thought of what she became- even through the mere memory could she feel the pain of the Process throb her temples.
"He said he was looking for those meteors that rained down the day of Kendra and Carter's first death... He didn't go into much detail about it." Margaret explained, nervously fiddling with her sleeves.
"What can he possibly do with those?" Stein asked, scratching his head.
"A lot of dangerous things." Snart grumbled, folding his arms. Sara gave him a look, and for a second he dropped his icy façade. Meg smiled- her OTP.
Hey- if someone had to pay attention to relationships around here, it's Meg.
"But now, let's just focus on the one thing we do know we can take from the Time Masters." Mick said, "The Oculus."
------
Margaret followed Ray, Rip, and Mick through the halls of the Vanishing Point, cloaking the four of them with a very convincing mirage.
"How much further?" She whispered, "I can't keep this up perfectly for much longer."
"You can stop now- Firestorm, Sara, and Snart got our backs." Mick told the redhead. Meg dropped the mirage- cracking her finger joints quickly.
The team of four entered the room where he Oculus was being kept- sitting in the center of he room. It glowed with light, like a giant mystical machine. Shutting that thing down must be harder than it looked.
"I'll try and turn of the Oculus so we won't blow up the entire temporal existence when we blow this puppy up." Ray said.
"I'll take watch." Meg offered, "Be careful."
Standing just a few feet away from the Oculus- Meg paced the room- watching every single entrance point with a careful eye. Especially since the sound of fighting and lasers shooting was drawing nearer and nearer. Druce's forces must be catching up to them.
"Also- hurry." She said to the three boys. Nerves filled her whole body as the last few hours replayed in her mind. The Process, Shadow, the monster she was. Meg tried to keep it from her thoughts to keep alert, but it kept coming back to her.
"Ray- stop. This is how you die." Rip said suddenly, holding out a hand. Meg whipped her head in her direction- her heartbeat pounding loudly in her ears.
"Then I know I'll die to an important cause." Said the billionaire, continuing to try and shut off the Oculus.
"Ray..." Meg said softly, shaking her head with wide eyes. If Ray died, then what was the point of all this? How could she come back from that after everything that happened?
Mick saw Meg's despaired, terrified look and whacked Ray out with the butt of his gun. The Atom fell over, unconscious.
"You're sacrificing yourself for him." The redhead breathed, shaking her head, "There has to be a way where no one dies."
"There isn't." Rip said, "Mick- I'll do it. Shrink Ray, take Margaret, and get the hell out of here. When this thing blows- it will blow."
"No. I deserve to die more than anyone. I've betrayed all of you. I owe it to Snart. To Ray- all of you." Mick grumbled, handing a shrunken down Ray to Rip- who puts him in his pocket.
"Well, you better make that decision fast because we have company." Snart and Sara barged in- Firestorm swooping around the outside of the building trying to pick off guards one by one.
Ducking behind the Oculus to avoid lasers, Meg quickly fired heated orbs of light at the guards- noticing Druce among them.
"Shadow- come back here." He called. Meg grinned, peeking out from behind the Oculus.
"Hell with you! Shadow is dead." The redhead knocked him to the ground with a ball of light- grinning as it hit the man dead on. Sara and Meg shared one of the highest of fives.
"We need to lead Druce and his men away from the Oculus or they'll box us in. Then there's no way we'll destroy this thing in time." Snart called.
Meg jumped out from behind what she secretly called the 'Giant Time Box' and began shooting swirls of light at the guards left and right- clearing a path. She was losing energy, and fast. Her blows were getting less and less powerful.
Suddenly, a laser hit Meg from behind- knocking her already swaying body to the ground. Her head hit the metal.
Slowly, she started to lose consciousness.
In Meg's slowly blackening vision- she saw someone swooping in to pick her up- carrying her over her shoulder and away from the Oculus.
She saw Snart knocking out Mick and taking his place to blow up the Oculus.
Meg saw Sara, putting on a brave face, pulling her love into a kiss. He didn't look so icy cold in his final moments. In fact- Leonard smiled genuinely- caressing the blonde's cheek.
Before Meg blacked out, she saw Druce's devastated face as the Oculus blew to bits, Snart saying the most badass final words.
"There are no strings on me."
Snart was a hero after all.
