"The time is now, Raymond." Dr. Stein ordered, "I never forgot that you were in my class... It's just, sometimes the student can prove to be more brilliant to the teacher, and I was envious of that."
Stein's words of encouragement caused Ray to break out into his charming smile as he shrunk down into the syringe Meg had prepared. Stein injected it into Kendra'a arm, and Ray swam through her bloodstream towards the shards. They were getting dangerously close to her heart- and it would be only a matter of time before they killed Kendra.
"I see them!" Ray said. The camera attached to his suit showed Meg and Stein his view of the shards. As the Atom shot them with his compressed light beams, they disintegrated into smaller and smaller pieces- and then into nothing.
"Hurry, okay? There should be only a few more shards. We don't have a lot of time left." Meg read the screen carefully, pacing the floor with quick, nervous steps.
"Got it."
One by one, the pieces are destroyed. Kendra- who was still in critical condition- began to slowly stabalize. Meg made sure her vitals were improving- and that the sedative Gideon gave the Hawk girl wouldn't wear off anytime soon.
A heavy silence weighed down the uneasy tension on Meg and Stein's shoulders as they watched Ray's camera
Meg found herself pacing the room- relieved that her headache was disappearing and that Kendra was hopefully going to make it. Stein- whose eyes weren't even blinking as they stared at the screen- didn't seem to make a noise as the air around them grew heavy with tension. The red head's heart thumped loudly in her chest- beating fast as she crossed her fingers.
She hoped Ray would be able to destroy all the pieces, that Kendra would be okay and that they could kill this Vandal Savage guy quickly. Meg didn't feel like she belonged on the Waverider with the rest of the group. They were professionals at stuff like this. Heroes. Even Stein and Mick acted like all the kicking ass was part of an every day routine.
All Margaret felt was that she stuck out like a sore thumb, like she was dragging the team down. Her narcolepsy and blackouts made everything ten times more difficult, mainly because she longed to have full control over her life. Meg wanted to regain the memories of her blackouts more than anything. It was like she had almost finished a puzzle but there were several pieces that didn't seem to be there.
"How many shards are left?" Ray's voice snapped the heavy tension in the air. Meg shook herself out of her daze and did a once-over on the screen.
"About 10. These are the biggest pieces, so tread carefully." Meg meekly responded- going back to her shy and reserved self. Sometimes she wished she never agreed to join the team. She missed her midnight walks through the quiet, peaceful streets in the moonlight.
But that would be selfish. Saving the world was far more important than some silly way Margaret spent her nights when she was unable to sleep.
Ray was able to completely destroy all the shards without problem- which completely stabilized Kendra. Meg smiled widely, a sense of strong relief washed over her.
Stein grabbed a syringe and extracted Ray from Kendra's bloodstream. He exited the needle and grew to his full size with a victorious smile that seemed to be permanently plastered on his features.
"I knew you could do it, Dr. Palmer." Martin grinned, clapping the billionaire on the back. Meg smiled, watching as they looked back at Kendra with a sense of accomplishment. She quickly supplied Kendra with a small dose of medication that will allow her to get some needed rest. The Hawk girl will probably be extremely worked up about Carter, so rest is just what she needed the most now.
