"Hurry- the security nerds will head back there soon." Mick hissed through his mic, his voice sounding somewhat amused. He was probably doing something that required his bottomless fountain of ego. Arm wrestling? Cards?
"Got it." Sara said, tucking the file underneath her arm. They exited- heading out the back way.
"Now, this is the tricky part. All people exiting the Pentagon are searched. Firestorm- turn off the power and it should buy Kendra, Meg, and Sara some time to sneak out." Rip explained to Stein and Jax.
"Got it." Jax's voice said through Meg's earpiece. She took her hat off, sighing as a piece of deep rusty hair fell out of her tight bun. She tucked it behind her ear, wincing as the area behind her eyes throbbed.
"All clear to exit."
They opened the restricted exit, the hallway dark. Their military footwear made little noise against the tile flooring, moving swiftly to exit the Pentagon without being detected. Meg crossed her fingers by her side, hoping they wouldn't get caught.
Which could be hard because the alarm suddenly went off.
"What the hell is happening?" Meg hissed, the ringing only making her head throb even more. So much for not getting caught. The guards were already approaching them.
"Ma'am, this is a restricted exit." One said, stopping them. One stood behind the three women, and another next to Meg- eyeing her suspiciously.
"We must have gotten lost, sir." Kendra said smoothly.
"First day." Meg added with a flustered smile. She tugged at the sleeve which her cuff was under, her hands clammy. Something didn't seem to be right with the cuff.
"I'm going to need to see some ID." The guard held up his hand. The others stopped them from walking any further. Meg glanced over at Sara, then to Kendra. They all shared a curt nod.
Sara and Kendra immediately started to do some jiu jitsu moves- while Meg just punched the other guard in the face. Her adrenaline rose- the throbbing in her head getting worse. Balls of light appeared in her hands, shooting the guard unconscious. Sara and Kendra knock their guards out as Meg quickly shoved her hands into her pockets to keep her powers under control. Her head didn't feel right- so she hoped that the cuff didn't wear off any time soon.
Kendra let out a growl-filled breath, her wings popping out from her uniform. Her eyes glowed deep red.
"We have a problem." Sara said in her mic. With a nervous sigh, Meg approached the Hawk goddess, trying to calm her down.
"Kendra-" She growled at Margaret, pouncing. Her claws connected with Meg's forearm that came up to protect her face- ripping through the clothing and the black cuff. Her head throbbed like crazy, causing her to let out a gasp. Kendra got up, and pounced on another person- her claws scratching at them.
Meg clutched her head, swirls of light engulfing her wrists. Blood trickled from the wound, but she didn't seem to care over her pounding head and out of control powers.
"What the hell is she doing?" Rip asked desperately.
"I don't know." Meg winced. She took deep breaths, shaking out her hands to try and control herself.
"Meg-" Sara started.
"It's the cuff- I can't control it." Margaret said, blinking rapidly. The wires hidden in the material sparked, giving the red head a zap every now and then.
"Everyone retreat. Get out of there and back to the ship." Rip yelled. Meg winced- not from her own personal problem at the moment- but at Rip's words. He was definitely angry with them.
