"Hey." Meg put a hand on his arm, "I'm okay. It looks a lot worse than what actually happened."

"Well.. that couldn't have been a lot better." He looked at the bruising on Meg's neck- where he could clearly see Savage's handprints bruised in deep purple. A frown fell on Ray's face as he examined Meg's injuries after glancing that the mess made in the kitchen once more.

"Well, I can guarantee I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. If I do, Ray- I'll always find you, okay? I promise you." Meg grabbed Ray's hands in hers- one clammy and the other bandaged- she gave hands a gentle squeeze of reassurance.

They folded and packed up the suitcase pretty quickly. Meg made sure that everyone's stuff was packed. Kendra had joined Sara to grab a few things from the hospital- so they'd all meet back at the Waverider in 10 minutes. When her mental checklist was complete, the redhead quickly zippered the suitcase and plopped it on the floor.

"Funny... Aren't I supposed to be the one to tell you that?" Ray asked. He grabbed the handle of the suitcase in one hand and held Meg's hand in the other.

"Maybe." Meg teased. They headed out the door of the house- walking slowly down the street. The sun shines brightly down on them- which made the crisp air less chilly as the pair walked down. Meg smiled to herself- not wanting the moment to end. It was serene and peaceful, and she didn't want it to end anytime soon.

But as they walked into the grassy, snow covered field, she remembered she forgot something.

"Oh shit." Meg face palmed herself, stopping in her tracks.

"What?" Ray asked, looking down at the redhead with his brows furrowed together.

"I forgot my book back at the house. I'll go back and get it, I'll only be a minute-"

"Wait." Ray stopped her, "I'll go. You've had a long few hours and should rest up."

"No, Ray, it's fine- it's just a two minute-"

"Which is why I'll be back in a jiffy. You take the suitcase back to the ship, and I'll grab your book. It's on the bed, yes?"

Meg nodded her head as a smile rose to her lips.

"Yes. Next time it's my turn, Palmer!" She called after him as he turned to walk back to he house.

"But then I couldn't be a gentlemen, could I?" He called back, blowing the redhead a kiss before turning back around. Meg's cheeks flushed red as she giggled to herself- her stomach filled with butterflies.

Dragging the suitcase behind her, Meg's feet trudged quickly through the cold grass wet with freshly fallen snow. The sun had slowly begun to set behind the mountains that rested in the distance, capped with white. She smiled, then giggled some more- not remembering the last time she felt this happy. Sure, they weren't able to kill Savage this time- but they had over 200 years until he took over the world. Meg was just lucky she would be around to help stop him. For a while, she thought Savage would have used her for something she wasn't looking forward to.

As she entered the ship, Meg brought the suitcase into the room where they had gotten the 1950's style clothes, then headed to join the others. She hummed as she went along, a dreamy smile plastered on her face with a pink tint on her cheeks.
