At the age of 7 on April 16, you had the pleasure of meeting your best friend. Joshua William Dun. You guys met at the park when you were both 7, and instantly became friends. Ever since that day, you hung out nearly every opportunity you were given.
Most of the time, you would go over to his house because it was more fun there. Your house was fun too, but you felt that his house held a better atmosphere.
°°°
Several years later when you went over, Josh introduced you to his friend, Tyler. All of you hung out on a regular basis after this. One time when you went over to Josh's house, the two were talking about starting a band. They had always enjoyed talking about music, but they had seemed pretty serious this time.
You decided not to interrupt, and they changed the subject not too long after you arrived.
After Tyler left, Josh filled you in on the details.
"Yea, Tyler was in a band with these two other guys. But both of them decided to leave because the band schedule was kinda conflicting with everything else in their life. It was just wrong timing." Josh explained.
"Tyler was saying that he wanted me to join. We bonded pretty well with music the first time we met. This would give us an opportunity to make music together." He smiled at the thought, looking up at your face to see your reaction.
"I think that'd be awesome Josh! If you two have a connection over it, I'm sure it would be fun." You smiled, happy for him.
"I'm gonna let him know next time I see him then... This is exciting!" Josh couldn't stop smiling. "Well no matter what I'll always be here rooting for you!" You smiled too since Josh's smile was contagious.
°°°
A couple months after Josh officially joined the band, you were over at his house. Again. You were holding your sides that were nearly splitting from laughter. "Hey (Y/N)...?" Josh asked, suddenly serious. "Yea?" You looked at him after calming down from your laughing attack.
"So things with the band are going really well..." "Yea, of course! I'm happy for you and Tyler and-" "We're leaving Ohio to go on tour tomorrow." Josh cut you off mid sentence, his voice almost cracking. "What? Tomorrow?" Tears welled up in your eyes as he nodded.
"I'm sorry... The tour dates are back to back for a while without much of a bream between them. I don't know when I'll be able to really see you and talk to you again." He replied. "Even between tours it would be hard for me to be home for too long." He explained.
"Well.. I hope things go well for you and Tyler while you're on tour." You told him, wiping tears from under your eyes. Instead of saying anything he just pulled you in for a hug. Your only friend was leaving the state. "I'm gonna miss you." He mumbled. "I'm gonna miss you too, you big dork." You hugged him a little tighter.
You both just stood, hugging for a while in silence. "Well... I need to go pack. This won't be the last time I'll see you obviously. When I get back for a while, I promise we'll hang out." He told you boldly. "I would love to." You chuckled and let him go, him doing the same to you.
°°°
The next morning you drove Josh to the airport where he would be leaving with Tyler. You pulled up to the station and helped him with all of his luggage.
"Flight 182 now boarding." A voice came over the speaker. That was Josh's flight. He looked at you sadly, but gave a smile anyways. "I'll see you later. I promise." He told you. "Of course Josh. Good luck!" You hugged him and watched as he walked towards the boarding station.
