Dan hadn't been in a very good mood for the past week or so and Phil knew it was because he was lacking motivation for a new YouTube video. He wished he could help, but he hadn't been feeling very motivated himself recently. The kettle finished boiling and he carefully poured hot water into the two cups on the counter, trying not to spill any and burn himself. He gently lifted both cups and carried them into the living room. Dan was stretched out on the sofa, blankly staring at his laptop screen, in a world of his own. Phil placed one cup on the coffee table near Dan and sat down on a chair. He sighed to himself and took a sip of tea, wincing as the boiling liquid scalded his tongue. The yelp Phil made seemed to snap Dan out of his trance as he turned to look at Phil, just now realising he was in the room. Phil noted the circles under Dan's eyes and his own fatigue, they could use a holiday, he thought.
"I've got it!" Phil jumped out of the chair, spilling tea onto the floor and over his socks.
Dan stared at the mess and raised his eyebrows, about to say something sarcastic.
"Listen!" Phil instructed before Dan could speak. He placed his cup on the coffee table and sat back down, tugging at his wet socks as he continued to talk, "I've got an idea for a video we can do."
"I'm not dressing up as a dinosaur again." Dan joked.
"I think we could use a holiday, you don't look too good."
"Wow, thanks, Phil." Dan mumbled.
"No, listen." Phil continued, "We should go on a spontaneous holiday, like when we went to Japan. Just choose a country and go."
Dan stared at Phil in confusion. "How is that a video idea?"
"We could vlog it all!" Phil exclaimed.
"Yea, coz we haven't done that before." Dan furrowed his brow.
Phil looked upset for a second, then his eyes lit up. "It could be a secret holiday!"
"What?"
"We can book plane tickets right now, plan it all out, vlog the entire trip, but don't tell anyone we're going..."
"And then upload the videos when we get home." Dan caught on to the idea and smiled. "Where are we going, then?"
Phil grinned, happy that Dan was willing to go along with it. He grabbed Dan's laptop and, ignoring Dan's protests, he searched for a map of the world. "Ok, close your eyes."
"Um... what?"
"Just close your eyes."
"Okay?" Dan looked a little concerned.
"Wherever you point to is where we're going." Phil held the screen in front of Dan.
"Are you serious?" Dan opened his eyes and looked at Phil.
"Yes. Close your eyes and point." Phil giggled.
Dan rolled his eyes, then did as he was told.
"Oh." Phil said when he saw where Dan had pointed.
"Great idea, Phil." Dan mocked, "We've never been to America before."
"Well..." Phil thought for a moment. "We can't change our minds, it was the finger of destiny."
"The... What? The finger of... Are you kidding me?!"
"No. The finger has decided." Phil said with a straight face. "But we can make this trip different to all the others."
"How?"
"We can..." Phil stopped to think again, "Oh, i know! We can drive around to different states!"
"We did that when we were touring."
"Yea, but we were in a big tour bus then and we slept most of the time. This time we could drive ourselves."
Dan looked terrified. "Drive ourselves?!"
