(song: Final Fantasy - Interrupted By Fireworks)
A few painfully slow hours crept by. They tried filling the time by watching TV and playing with a pack of cards they'd found in the bedside table. Phil's stomach rumbled loudly.
Dan threw the cards down and hopped off the bed, "Screw this. Let's go get some food and have a look around. Hopefully we'll find a bar."
"A bar?"
Dan nodded and rummaged through Phil's bag, pulling out the blue polka dot shirt and chucking it at Phil. He was pleasantly surprised to find a plain black shirt for himself.
After dressing and checking their hair, they left the room in search of food. They ended up back at the same small diner. Phil ordered a large meal, knowing it wasn't good to drink on an empty stomach, while Dan settled for just a sandwich. They wandered around the town, looking in the shops, passing time until it began to get dark.
Dan was happy when they found a bar and he dragged Phil inside. It was surprisingly full, but that made it better in Dan's eyes - it meant they could drink more without drawing much attention to themselves. The drinks were cheap, the company pleasant and the music was good. They lost track of the time and the number of drinks they had. The night passed in a swirl of lights, laughter and bad dance moves.
They stumbled back to their room, arms over each others shoulders, singing out of tune and collapsed onto the bed in a fit of giggles.
Phil yawned, "I guess I should make my floor-bed." As he moved to get off the bed, he felt Dan's hand on his shoulder, pulling him back with a gentle force.
"You don't have to sleep on the floor," Dan said, "It's not like we haven't shared a bed before."
Phil smiled as memories flashed through his mind, "Those were good days. Feels like a lifetime ago."
"I miss it." Dan murmured.
Phil turned to look at Dan. Their eyes met and Phil felt his heart skip a beat. He swallowed hard. Those days were in the past now, they couldn't go back, it had caused too much pain for everyone.
Dan rolled onto his back and looked up at the ceiling. "So much cherry."
Phil couldn't hold back the laughter and they both laughed until tears rolled down their cheeks, then suddenly Dan's lips crashed against Phil's.
