(song: Pierce The Veil - Props And Mayhem)
Dan opened his eyes and found his arms and legs entwined with Phil's. He slowly untangled himself, feeling awkward and hoping Phil wouldn't wake. He sat up and his stomach protested at the movement, he leapt out of bed making it to the bathroom just in time.
Phil woke to the sound of Dan being sick. He quickly pulled on his jeans and a tee and knocked on the bathroom door, "Are you ok?"
Dan groaned in response. Phil grabbed some clothes and a glass of water and passed them through the door, sitting back on the bed and waiting while Dan had a shower.
"I'm never drinking again." Dan stated as he emerged from the bathroom.
Phil half smiled, "Are you ok?" He asked again.
"I need tea and a fry up." Dan said in reply, then looked at Phil, "How come you seem perfectly fine? You drank just as much as me."
Phil laughed, "You never were good at holding your alcohol."
Dan smiled remembering all the times in the past when Phil had hovered over him like a worried parent as he hung his head over a toilet bowl. "Um... Phil..? Why was I naked when I woke up?"The question caught Phil off guard and he felt his face flush as memories from the night before replayed in his mind like a movie. He stared at his hands as his fingers nervously played with the bed sheet, "Don't you remember?"
Dan shook his head, "The last thing I remember was dancing ironically to the YMCA." He laughed.
Phil turned away and pretended to sort through his bag. Did Dan really remember nothing? Should Phil say something? Maybe if he kept quiet he could convince himself it was just a dream... Was it just a dream? No, they had woken up naked in the same bed and the images were too clear in Phil's mind for it to have been a dream. But he could pretend.
"Did... something happen?" Dan asked.
Phil spun to face him, noting the confused and anxious look on Dan's face. Should Phil tell him? He had a right to know. Phil opened his mouth to speak, then closed it again. How would Dan react? Would he be happy? Upset or angry sounded more likely. "No." He lied, "You were drunk and it was very warm." He felt the guilt sweep through his entire body and the feeble words his mind spoke - it was a drunken mistake best forgotten. "Let's go get some breakfast." Phil forced a smile and pulled his shoes on.They walked back to the diner and Dan ordered a large English breakfast.
"Slow down, you'll be sick again." Phil warned.
"I want to get to the mechanic and get the car fixed as soon as possible." Dan said as he shoveled beans into his mouth.
They finished their meal and found the mechanic.
"Dead battery." He announced.
"How long will it take to fix?" Dan asked.
"Less than hour, probably."
Dan let out a sigh of relief. They decided to go back to the motel and collect their belongings, then took another walk around the small town while they waited.
Phil pulled the camera out and pouted before Dan had a chance to say anything, "Aw, dead battery. How did that happen?"
"What is it with batteries dying?" Dan muttered.
"It must've run out last night." Phil said thoughtfully.
"Last night?"
"Yea, don't you remember? We took the camera to the bar."
Dan groaned dramatically, "Oh god. We're gonna have to burn the whole thing."
"No." Phil hugged the camera protectively then slid it back into his bag.
