A few hours later, Dan woke to the sound of Phil attempting to sing along to a foreign song and making up his own words, "What in the world are you singing?" He chuckled.
Phil jumped at Dan's sudden words, then giggled, "I don't know, but it's catchy."
Dan shook his head and sat up properly, looking out of the window, "Where are we?" He asked, a look of concern spreading over his face.
"Don't worry, we're not lost!" Phil reassured him quickly, "My mum always said 'the sea air can cure anything', so I thought it'd be good for you to spend some time at the beach."
Dan smiled, grabbed his camera and got out of the car. He stretched and let out a little moan. Phil blushed at the sound, memories from last night still haunting his mind. Grabbing his own camera, he also got out of the car.
"Are you feeling any better after sleeping?"
Dan nodded, "A bit."

They left their shoes in the car so they could walk barefoot and feel the soft, white sand between their toes. The sun was shining brightly and there was a slight cool breeze making the warm weather bearable. Surprisingly, there were very few people around. Dan flopped onto the sand, laying on his back with a hand shielding his eyes. Phil lay next to him.
"Maybe I'll get a tan this year." Phil said, lifting his pale arms and studying them.
"Yea." Dan said distractedly.
"You still feel sick?" Phil propped himself up on one arm and looked down at Dan - his brown eyes were squinting in the light, his skin already taking on a golden tone, his lips... Phil turned away, gazing out at the sea.
Dan opened his mouth to reply as Phil looked away, his face flushed, he hadn't been his usual self all day, "What's wrong with you?" Dan questioned.
Phil turned back to Dan, "Me? Nothing, I'm fine."
Dan studied his face, something was off. He was sure now it wasn't just the hangover, there was a glint of fear in Phil's eyes, he was definitely hiding something, but what and why?
"Let's go down to the water." Phil suggested, standing up before Dan could protest.

They wandered towards the ocean and let the cool water lap over their feet. The sea air swirled around them. Dan closed his eyes and breathed in, it was so peaceful.
Water unexpectedly splashed on his face. He opened his eyes in time to see Phil laughing and moving his hand back, ready to strike again.
"Don't." Dan warned. Phil ignored him and slapped water towards Dan.
Dan attempted to dodge out of the way and retaliated by kicking water up at Phil. They laughed and splashed around until a wave caught Phil off guard and swept him off his feet, depositing him on his backside and soaking him entirely. Phil launched himself at Dan who was laughing uncontrollably, knocking him over so that he too was submerged.
Laughing and dripping wet, thankful that their cameras were waterproof, they made their way back up the beach and sat down, looking out across the horizon as the sun was beginning to set.
The sky was a rainbow of yellow, orange and blue, the sun slowly descending until the last glowing embers seemed to dip beneath the sea and the sky began to transition from blue to purple while the waves gently rolled back and forth.
"We should get something to eat." Phil spoke, his voice sounding loud in the silence.
They found a small, atmospheric restaurant along the beach, with a bar and outside seating, all in a tiki theme.
"How far away from a hotel are we?" Dan asked as they finished their meal.
"Not too far." Phil shrugged, noticing for the tenth time that evening the way the flickering flame of the tiki torch sparked in Dan's eyes and he felt that shooting pain in his chest that was becoming too familiar now.
