"I suppose so." He agreed, but he didn't actually sound too convinced or confident in his words. You wanted to know why, but you knew he wouldn't tell you. He won't tell me straight out, at least. You moved on. "I ordered some things for you last night. I hope you don't mind. I understand you haven't been able to exactly go shopping in a bit."
"You bought me food?" You asked.
"Yes. I won't do it again if you don't want me to."
"No, no! It's..it's fine. Thanks, actually." His small smile returned.
"You're welcome, Lieutenant!" He said. You heard the coffee machine beep. You got up and got yourself a cup. As you began to drink your coffee, your phone started ringing.
"Can you get it, Connor?" He nodded and got up to grab your phone.
"It's Lieutenant Anderson."
"Answer it and put him on speaker." You replied. He did as he returned to the table. "Hey, Hank. What's up?"
"Hey, (Y/n). I was looking into some stuff and I found somebody who I think can help us. His name is Elijah Kamski. He's the guy that made androids." You thought about it.
"Count us in. We'll go later today. I need at least some time to do my own thing." You replied.
"Works with me. See ya soon, kid."
"Same to you, old man."
"Would ya stop callin' me that?"
"I will...when I'm 45."
"Fuckin' hell, (Y/n), you're impossible."
"Thank you. I try." You chuckled.
"See ya."
"Later, Hank." You said and hung up. You looked at Connor. "Well, we know what's on the day's agenda now, at least."
"I agree with Hank. Kamski may be able to provide valuable information for our investigation." Connor said.
"Well, we'll see how it goes. All we can do is hope, I guess." You concluded, taking another sip of your coffee. You were actually curious what Kamski would have to say. You didn't know much about him, but you knew that almost nobody did. He was a private person, mysterious in his own ways. This should definitely be interesting, to say the least.
As you were finishing up your coffee, you began to wonder what Kamski would have in store. You shrugged it off soon enough. It would only matter to you if he actually did have useful information. Guess I have to give Hank some credit, for once. Been awhile since I've had to do that, heheh.
Once you finished your coffee, you got up and went to go take a quick shower before breakfast. After your shower, you ate, thanking Connor again for buying more food for you, finished getting ready and then decided to play a game while you hung out for a bit. You invited Connor to come and watch. He might as well observe instead of just sitting there doing nothing.
You decided you would get some exercise in. You put in Just Dance Underrated. It had a bunch of dances to songs not a lot of people listened to. That's why they had named it underrated. Connor sat down on the couch.
"What are you playing, (Y/n)?"
"Just Dance."
"What's that?"
"You have to dance to the song you pick. I need some movement anyway. I got some energy to burn." You replied. He red the title as it came up on the screen.
"Underrated?" He questioned.
"Yeah. Songs people don't listen to. It makes it unique. I like it." You explained.
"I didn't know you could dance." Connor said.
"Nobody does. Which means if you tell anybody, I'll grab my gun. Got it?" He nodded.
"I won't tell if that's what you like. Why do you keep it a secret though?" You frowned.
"It's...personal." You muttered. You picked a song and you grinned, You loved this one. It had great energy and a great beat. The dance fit really well too.
(You can make up the dance. Listen to while reading.)
You began to dance and Connor watched curiously as the song played and your body began to move with the music, matching the animated one on the screen. You couldn't count how many times you'd done this dance.
As you danced to the beat, you began to sing to it as well. You had suddenly tuned out the world. Each step was memorized. Each word was imprinted into your head. Your heart was pounding and your eyes closed as it engulfed you.
Still, you moved perfectly with the song. You hadn't done this is so long, but now...something was coming back. That old spark. That old passion. It was still there, and it was still at it's best. If only you had known what else you were doing...for you had forgotten that somebody was watching.
Connor's POV
I watched as she danced to the song. It was an interesting choice, but I didn't care. Everything was perfect. Her eyes were closed, her voice matched perfectly, her body was fluid with its movements and...it was all so amazing. I couldn't stop staring at her. She's...so good. She's...breathtaking.
My chest felt weird, my pump speed had increased, and my cheeks were flushed and heated. I listened to her sing. She really was a great singer. You could tell she had experience. Each move she made only drew me in deeper. I glanced at the screen. Each move registered as 'PERFECT!' and I couldn't disagree for a second.
Soon enough, the song was close to coming to an end. That seemed to only fuel her more. If it were possible, she started dancing even better than before. I saw something in her expression in that moment. It was like it was a self she had locked away. A part of her personality poking through that she had forgotten. I wondered why she had held this part of herself hostage from the world. What had started this? Why are you hiding who you are? Who you used to be? Who you still yearn to be? Why can't you see that you want it too? You still want to be who you were. I can tell. No matter how much you deny it, I can still see through you. You can't hide everything, (Y/n). Not forever.
