CHRIS POV
I finished setting up the bed. It looked nice. I must say Jada's idea to put the bed into the issue at the store... was smart. She walked in my room and smiled "I still haven't heard thank you".
Walking up to her "thank you".
She nodded "took you long enough".
Pulling to the bed "sit".
She gently sat down and smiled "very comfy!".
"Exactly, so now you can sleep in here. The bed is big enough... and it's brand new" I said. She shook her head "I'm fine in the guest room".
"I'm confused on why you don't want to sleep in here with me. You never had a problem with it before" I said.
She stood up "I already told you... our relationship isn't what it was before. I rather until you can figure out what you want... that we are just friends".
"And how would you know the reason we went to get a new bed is because I want to see if I want something more with you. So far, we've mastered not having sex when I slept over your place. We are getting to know one another. I've haven't spoke about my dad with anyone. Not even my mom. But I told you. Vice Versa" I said.
"In due time" she said.
"It doesn't even occur to you... that maybe I want you in this bed because I can feel a little close to you both. Before I wasn't sure about being involved with this whole pregnancy. But I do now" everything I was saying was all truth. I'm not the type to wear my feelings on my sleeve.
"Chris? I'm here. In the same house as you. You can be involved... you are involved. Me sleeping next to you isn't going to make that any different. Now if you would excuse me... I'm going to go lay down and elevate my feet" watching her walk out of my room.
Turning back and staring at this big ass bed. That plan didn't work.

•The next night... I went out with a friend of mine. Since Jada has been in my home I was to respect her wishes. So instead of going to chill at my place... we went to a lounge.
"How come we can't just hang at your place?" My friend Bobby asked.
"Jada is there temporarily..." I said.
"Oh the black girl you're messing with? She lived there now?" He asked.
I nodded "yeah temporarily".
He looked confused "and why is she living there? What happened to Brooke? So much is going on with you!".
"Brooke I haven't heard or seen her in a minute. And Jada is living with me until our daughter is born" I said.
"Hold the hell up? She's pregnant?!... you? A dad? Oh my god the world is going to end! Never would I have ever thought of you being a dad!" He said.
I nodded "it's happening".
"Wow! I'm shocked! I mean maybe if it was brooke I wouldn't do surprised. Cause you two have history. But wow! Figures why you been so quiet lately. But congratulations!" He said.
"Thank you" I smiled.
"And it's a girl? Do you even know what to do with a baby girl? Actually with a whole baby. The crying, getting sick, diapers, poop, baby proofing, etc." he said.
"I have to learn and I know it won't be easy. But no turning back now" I said.
He held up the shot glass "you need this more than me. But here's to fatherhood and the many gray hairs you get". I smiled and chugged down the liquor.
"Chris?" I heard from behind me. Bobby looked over me and looked at me "there's a female yelling your name". "Chris?" I heard again.
"Now she's coming over here" Bobby said. When I saw who the person was "Paula...".
"Hey I've been worried about Jada. I haven't heard from her in a while. It's like she's hiding or disappeared. Have you heard from her?" She asked.
"She doesn't know Jada is staying with you?" Bobby asked.
Giving him the stare. He looked away with the look of damn. "Oh she's with you this whole time? Wow! I thought we were friends. But I see how she is. Been nothing but nice to Jada for her to even treat me like this".
"Have you been a good friend to her? I can say you haven't. If you think you have then you need to get help" I said.
"Look I get it. She wasn't into my brother. I was just trying to do a good thing and have her forget about you. And then I'm the wrong one for trying to help" she said.
"I don't know what's going on but it sounds like you need to stay out of jada's business. If she wants to forget Chris and date again... I don't see why you wouldn't wait for her to announce that" Bobby said.
"Because Jada is slow. She doesn't know or want to make a choice on what she wants. No offense Chris but my brother is a better choice for her" she said.
"That's your opinion. But when I go home.. guess who'll be there?" I asked. Paula sucked her teeth and stormed from where we were sitting.
"Guessing homegirl didn't like that answer" Bobby said.
I shrugged "don't care".
