The teenager no older than 17 sprinted as fast as a rabbit during rabbit season. His feet were getting all kinds of cuts and bruises as he ran down the wet jungle floor of the island he had escaped to.
His once soft and silvery hair was now mangled in a series of knots, blood making it sticky and darker in color.
After running for what seemed to be an eternity, the teenager finally collapsed. He crouched on all fours and gasped for breath as he gazed at the scarlet droplets that fell from his head and onto the ground.
The sight of the scarlet droplets triggered the memories of the facility that had enslaved him and abused him.
Electric shocks that were deadlier than Kai's lightning bolts, the needles, the muddy water that he had almost drowned in, and the flames that had burned his soft skin. The blood that oozed from him after getting whipped multiple times for refusing to collaborate. . . For refusing to let those men use him to run their experiments.
No. . . Those people were not men, they were monsters.
The 17-year old sniffled, noticing a small stream of tears run down his cheeks. What those monsters had done to him and his friends was inhumane.
He lifted his hand and touched the bloody hole in his head. The hole that had been left behind after one of the monsters had ripped one of his antlers from his head.
The teenager then lied down on the ground and curled up into a ball, clutching the small blanket that he had brought with him. The faint scent of banksia flowers entered his nose, sending memories upon memories of the one he had once called his love.
His sobs were getting loud, but he didn't stop. This was the first time where he could cry and not be punished for it.
In the darkness of the night, a sudden light shone, it was almost as bright as the lights that belonged to the lab he had escaped from.
Feeling utterly terrified, the teenager sat up, his lip quivering as he gazed at a man with black hair and broad shoulders.
"Do not be afraid, young one." The man whispered, his soft hand brushing against his now silvery, blood-dyed hair. "You're safe here. . . No one will hurt you ever again."
The man's words were as soothing as his touch, so much that the 17-year old's eyes began to flutter shut. How could someone be able to make him feel as calm as this?
As the horned teenager began to fall into a deep slumber, the man curled his arms around the teenager's back and legs before gently picking him up.
"You can come out now, Namjoon." After hearing the faint whisper, another creature stepped into the light of the moon.
He was half man half deer, his hooves breaking twigs and his antlers getting tangled in flowers.
He shook his head, freeing his antlers from the undergrowth. "Poor kid. . ." The centaur whispered, pressing his hand against the bloody dent in the teenager's head. "Put him in Jungkook's tribe. He'll know what to do with him."
Even though he wasn't sure that his son would be capable enough to take care of this poor child. . . The man let out a nod. "I shall. . . Let's go, my love. There's no time to waste."
Namjoon nodded, trotting noisily as he followed the man that lived on the moon.
And just like that, they took the teenager away. . . Away from his suffering and away from the monsters that hurt him. But even if they were saving him from such horrors, they were also taking him away from four other children who needed and counted on him.
From that day on. . . Kai, Soobin, Taehyun, and Beomgyu would never see their dear Yeonjun ever again. . .
