Mind you, this is how he will look like in further chapters since his tribe leader decided to pamper him with lots of food and affection, he even went as far to braid and decorate Kai's hair :(

"YEONJUN!" Taehyun screamed with terror when the rocks bellow him crumbled and rolled down the mountain, making him slip and lose his grip.

But the older's reflexes acted quickly by grabbing Taehyun's wrist tightly and preventing him from falling off. "I-I got you, hold on." Yeonjun gritted his teeth and tensed his arm before hurling Taehyun over and onto a nearby rock. 

After Yeonjun had managed to climb to the top as well, he let poor trembling Taehyun hug him as he looked over the edge. "Are you two good over there?"

"Yeah, we're good!" Soobin dug his claws into the rock while Kai; who was clinging to the older's back quite tightly, let out a series of whines and whimpers at being so far away from the safety of the ground. 

The whimpering boy held onto the older tightly when he felt his hands growing sweaty due to the fear. He hated heights, it was one of his biggest fears alongside the ocean and many more. He had his eyes squeezed shut, but he couldn't stop his panic from traveling down his body at the dark thoughts that evaded his mind. 

What if the rock crumbled too?

What if Soobin slipped?

What if they fall?

WHAT IF THEY DIE?!

Kai's body shook even more. His delicate heart increased its pacing as it tried to battle against the anxious thoughts that pinched and threatened to stop it from beating any longer.

"Kai?" Yeonjun's wonderful voice broke into his thoughts. "We're at the top, you can let go off Soobin now."

"R-Really?" Kai opened his eyes and looked at the rocky and gray landscape as well as the big and clear blue sky, everything seemed so pretty. . . Until he looked at the edge of the mountain and saw how high they were above the ground. The younger squeaked and hid his face away behind Soobin's trustworthy shoulder.

Soobin turned his head to the side worriedly. 

His scales were decaying, yes, but they were still very sensitive to the slight trembling of the younger's boy. The older's eyes softened and affection filled his chest. He knew how Kai was feeling, he knew him too well to know that the younger needed to have someone holding him. . . And he also knew that Kai preferred that someone to be him. 

"Umm. . . It's fine, I'll carry Kai on my back," Soobin finally said before he wrapped his arms around the younger's legs and lifted him up to give him a much comfortable piggyback ride. "I can handle him."

Kai moved his hands from the older's shoulders and wrapped his arms around his neck instead. Having the older hold him like this made his heart decrease its pace. It was extremely weird to feel this way towards someone he considered his friend, but the feeling was so warm and lovely he couldn't help but welcome it. Plus, the feeling really calmed him down whenever he got anxious or panicked.

"Alright, come on; The tribe of the Air is this way." Yeonjun said, helping and letting Taehyun cling to him as well.

"This tribe is filled with maniacs," Taehyun trembled once again. "Living so far off the ground, don't they know how scary that is? Look at Kai, his face is as pale as the feathers on his back."
