When I felt okay enough, I slid out of my bunk and stumbled towards the shower cabin, deciding to take a shower to wake up some more and rinse off the clam, sweaty vibe that lingered on my skin. The warm water did me well, and I felt a bit better when I got dressed. My head hurt and still felt heavy, and I chugged a bottle of water down before leaving, craving some ketamine to get the edge off my anxiety that was based on literally nothing, despite the alprazolam.
When I arrived at the party, it was already crowded and a few people cheered when they saw me. I smiled at them and looked around for the lads, totally forgetting about Alison until my eyes fell on her talking to Austin a few feet away from the crowd. I stared at them for a moment, biting my tongue in annoyed jealousy when Alison smiled her beautiful smile at Austin and hugged him tightly. Austin laughed and put his arms around her too, putting his chin on the crown of her head. I would give anything to hug her like that... Not that she would want to hug me like that, since she hated me anyway. She and Austin had both said that they weren't into each other and that they were just friends, but the suspicion that they had had sex last night made me irritated and feeling betrayed. But why? Alison and I weren't connected in any way, so there was no reason for me to feel like that.
'What are you staring at?,' Lee asked me while he handed me a cup of mixed alcohol. I looked down on him and muttered a thank you.
'Nothing...'
'Are they dating or something? What's going on with them?,' Lee asked, following my stare at Austin and Alison.
'I don't know. I don't care, either,' I said, hoping that I sounded convincing. Lee cocked an eyebrow at me.
'You sure?,' he asked sarcastically.
'Fuck off, Lee.' I sighed deeply and walked off, sitting down around the corner of the bus and leaning my back and head against the cold metal while lighting a cigarette.
'Hey, look who's finally awake,' someone said and I looked up to see a frowning Alison looked down on me, her arms crossed over her chest while holding her drink and leaning sideways against the bus.
'I was worried about you.'
'Why?,' I asked darkly, looking back at my cigarette and ticking the ash of the end. I bit my lip and took another drag, not looking back at her.
'You were out, completely knock down. We tried to wake you, but you wouldn't budge. It was like you were on something.' She raised her eyebrows a bit and I huffed. 'Did you take K, Oli?'
'No,' I just said, still not looking at her. 'Why would you care anyway?' Alison sighed and her posture slouched a bit.
'Haven't I told you a million times already? I want you to be okay.'
'I am okay,' I grunted.
'Hmm. Sure you are.' Her sarcastic tone made me throw her a glance.
'Why don't you go annoy Carlile, huh?,' I spat at her. Alison's eyes widened a bit at my hostile words. 'Why would I -'
'Maybe you wanna go fuck him again, like you did last night!' Alison fell quiet at that and narrowed her eyes.
'What?,' she hissed.
'Oh come on, don't play stupid, Alison. I know you guys hooked up last night!'
'And why would you care about that, Oliver?!' Alison's face turned red, and I didn't know whether it was from anger or shame or whatever other emotion.
'Because I thought you were done hoeing around with people!'
'Excuse me?!' Now she was angry... 'Hoeing around, Oliver? Me?! It didn't happen on purpose!'
