THE MERCURIAL ??

"What's going on?"

Logan remarked while entering the shop, his eyes widen at seeing Iris holding the knife at Sally while Ella is at one side eating a brownie.

Iris takes the satchel from him,

"We can't talk here, let's go somewhere else."

She stated, taking a peek at the clueless Sally.

"What about her?"

Ella inquired, grabbing the box of brownies that they paid for.

"She's innocent, she was in need of money hence why she agreed to that stranger's request, she went for the knife because she already had her suspicions that the guy was bad news, so seeing us being suspicious of her made her freak out. She wasn't planning on actually harming us."

Iris explained, everyone was looking at the nervous Sally,

"That's so correct, are you a psychic?"

"Since, we are letting her go, the least she can do is lie and deny when someone asks if anybody came for any information of any sort. You can do that, can you?"

Iris ignored Sally's remark and smiled at her in a way that made it impossible for Sally to say no. She nodded after noticing the threat behind Iris's words.

They all then go towards the nearby park which was empty and throughout the way, Iris and Ella told him about Aunt Julie's disappearance although Iris didn't mention  who she thought was behind this was of The Mercurial.

"So you want us to help you find her because you don't trust the police?"

Logan raised his brow, narrowing his eyes and asked after hearing all the explanation.

"....yes..."

Iris gave a reply in a low voice, she had hoped they would agree to help her.

"Why don't you just go to the main centre and put in an official request?"

He shrugged, stating an obvious point. Iris had yet to tell him about how she thinks the kidnapper is part of The Mercurial. She was hesitating because she wasn't sure if Logan was with them or that guy. Over the years, especially due to an incident two or three years ago, made Iris unable to trust people easily.....even if the person's name is Logan or Lucy.

"I can't...."

"She thinks the person behind all of this is someone from The Mercurial so if she were to put an official request and then he would be to definitely find out about all of this and of us searching for him so he might harm Aunt Julia."

Ella added instead of Iris, seeing how Iris was having difficulty trusting Logan with the truth. She spoke in hopes that Iris could see that Logan can be trusted.

"Someone from The Mercurial you say....huh....interesting..."

He puts his hand on his chin like he's thinking about something, maybe trying to figure out who could be behind this.

"So you want this to be an un-official business, which is great and all but what do we get in return for helping you?"

He smirked, curious about what her answer will be. He didn't really care about wanting something in return, he would've done it even if she hadn't asked, after all, his teacher's last request to him was to take care of his family and especially his little daughter whom he knew would not sit still and would try any means possible to find her dad and help him. His exact words were, "Please take care of her, protect her..."

That is why he knew about all the times, Iris tried anything to contact The Mercurial in non official ways, which made them all suspicious. Honestly, he has lost count of all the times he had to save her without her knowing that she was in danger.

"Logan! She's my friend, please, you knew her father, right? He was your mentor, if I recall.....then as a favour just help us."

Ella requested Logan, but he just shrugged in return. He was about to reply fine, when Iris beat him to it by saying,

"I have that thing which you have been looking for all these years."

"Huh?"

Logan and Ella's eyes went round, both for different reasons.

"What thing? What are you talking about?"

Ella didn't know what she meant so she was curious about what this thing was. On the other hand Logan knew exactly what she was talking about.

"He knows what I mean."

Iris looked at Logan, who just stared back, thinking. Is this true? Did she have it all along? But Nick told me he gave it to someone who knows what to do with it. How can she have it? Is this the reason he specifically told me to lookout for her?

"How do you know that we are looking for something?"

He asked, to confirm if what she said was true or not. He had a suspicion that maybe she had heard about the thing from her father, but didn't actually have it and perhaps she was just saying it to get their help.

"The night my dad went into hiding, before going, he gave it to me, entrusted it to me."

She spoke confidently which made Logan's suspicions go away. He now knew that she had it.

"Why do you trust us? We could trick you, you know. After all, it is what we all have been looking for, we might not be on the good side. You're naive."

Logan responded, yes he thought Iris was stupid that she trusted him and told him about it so easily. If she could tell him even though she only met him twice, then she must have or could have told this to someone else.

"....my father. That night, after giving me it, he told me the only two people whom I can trust in the world is you and Lucy. He said if I were to be approached by you guys then I should trust you, or if I were to need help, I should find you two...."
