THE MERCURIAL ??

"Gotcha!"

Logan said in a whisper, his arms were around Iris, holding her.

Iris, who had closed her eyes to not see the impact of her surprise fall, opens them to see herself in the arms of Logan. Her eyes staring directly at his, making a flush crept her face. Noticing that blush, Logan's ears also reddens and they both quickly let go of each other.

Then they run back to the opposite direction and go to the designated place, to meet up with the rest. On the way, Iris tells Aunt Julia of the details but only a few things like how she got kidnapped because some guy wanted money, and that they contacted The Mercurial, after the police turned out to be useless.

"How did you guys manage to get out?"

Luke inquires Logan and Iris who takes off their gloves. He also takes off his mask while Iris gives the hoodie back to Lucy.

"Ella please take this woman back to her house. I have something to talk to about to Iris." Lucy spoke in a calm tone. Ella nodded in agreement, who motioned Aunt to come on. Aunt Julia looked with confusion at everyone. She didn't really know what was going on.

"Aunt Julia, please don't tell mom about The Mercurial helping us. You know how mom, hates them....."

Iris pleaded in a whisper to her Aunt's ear, who replied,

"I won't but I thought you hated them as well."

"I will be back after paying them... you know..."

Iris ignored the remark the woman in front made. It was true that she didn't like them......but being with these people made her feel calm. It almost felt like she was home. Why did she felt at ease with them? She should be wary of them....is it because of what her father said to her? Her dad was right. They are all good people.

"What did you want to talk about?"

Iris inquired, seeing her Aunt walk away with Ella and Luke who decided to go with them as well.

"How would you like to join us?"

Lucy blurted out, the corners of her mouth quirks up

"What?"

Iris and Logan both spoke in surprise, their eyes going wide at Lucy's request.

"She can't join us. This was a one time thing. She should go back to living her normal life."

Logan hissed before Iris could answer. What surprised Iris more than Lucy's question was Logan's flat out objection to it

"What's wrong with her joining us?"

Lucy acted oblivious

"Everything. She has that USB and if you seem to recall, people have now found out about Nick and that thing. It's like handing the meat to the lion. Lets just take the USB from her, and let her go."

Logan grunted. He didn't like Lucy's idea. Their job given to them by Nick was to protect Iris, not hand her to the enemy. While it may seem like a logical solution but her joining them would cause them to know about her and approach her. She is fine just now, staying hidden. Although The Mercurial could still get to her, but they can stop that like they did before. It's better than her being a part of the company.

"Hey! I can take care of myself perfectly. Also who said I am handing this USB to you? If you seem to remember, I said I 'have' the USB. Never agreed to give it to you."

Iris crossed her arms, she did not like how Logan was so strongly refusing it.

"That settles it. You still have to give us something in return for helping your Aunt, you can join us as a way of paying us back."

Lucy beamed, feeling proud at the solution she came up with

"Huh? Who said I was agreeing to join?"

Iris replies, her eyebrows puckered

"Look, you need help finding your father. We can help you. This way its a win-win for all of us. Logan and I were requested by your father the last time we met to protect you. We know how you have tried to contact people to find your father. I think you do not know this, but there were so many occasions where you were so close to being found out, hell there were times when you were under so much suspicions that they were stalking you. Logan, over here, had to personally go and take care of everything. With you joining us, you will be with us."

Lucy explained in a gentle tone. Iris was surprised to hear about all of this. She knew that she didn't ask them to look out for her but they still did.....also if she joined them there was one more thing that she could do...a mistake she made, which she were now getting a chance to fix.

"...that's true. But it's still dangerous, you'll be dragging her into this lifestyle."

Logan said, he knew either way she would be found out considering how they all will soon know the truth

"I was born into this lifestyle. Thank you, I will gladly accept your offer."

Iris gave a half-smile, while Lucy beamed with joy, Logan looked like he was deep in thoughts

"What's wrong? You don't want me to join?"

Iris raised her brow. Logan shook his head,

"Well...personally no, but it can't be helped. Anyhow that's not what I was thinking about. I am more worried about how did Frederick managed to find out about the death being fake."

"Same. But don't worry, I have a perfect plan..." She stopped talking, her eyes bore into nothing. She looked like she remembered something she forgot all about and without it her plan won't work.

"What plan?"

Logan asked, both him and Lucy were waiting for Iris to continue but she didn't

"Sorry, its nothing. That plan is useless......"

She spoke in a low voice.....Logan and Lucy could notice the disappointment in her tone but decided not to dig further into it.

"Okay so for now, we just follow Frederick about who he meets and everything."

Lucy suggests, the two nods in agreement

"It's getting late. Mom is really worried. I have 72 text messages and 23 missed calls." Iris shows her phone, which she had gotten back earlier from Lucy.

"Come to my house tomorrow, we will then go through the paperwork of you joining as an official member. Your last name will be Taylor instead of Ray."

Lucy explains

"Okay, got it. Good Night, thank you for everything."

Iris waves, heading home

"Night." Logan responds as Lucy waves and says in a loud voice, "See you soon!"

"I am going back now, bye..."

Logan heads back home, giving a single wave to Lucy without turning to look at her.

Iris who was walking back, thinks about all the events taken place. She feels a bit of guilt for some reason and she couldn't shake off the feeling. But it is all for the best. That's what she kept telling herself.
