Chapter 36

Kai pulled away from Soobin's embrace and brushed his hand against Soobin's when the older touched his cheek, still having the intentions to comfort him further.

"I-I'm okay," Kai smiled at him, his heart about to melt at the older's soft gaze.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah," Kai insisted and let out a squeak when Soobin pulled him back onto his lap, he wrapped both of his arms across Kai's chest and smooched his chubby face.

Kai giggled loudly, his hands holding onto Soobin's wrist as the older drowned him in kisses. "Ya! No, stop that!" He laughed, moving his head to the side so Soobin would stop trying to make his heart explode with the amount of affection he was receiving.

Soobin kissed Kai's cheeks one last time before nuzzling his cheek lovingly. "There. Now I'm sure you're okay."

Kai chuckled. He once again cuddled against Soobin while analyzing the ocean's waves, wondering if the dolphins were still lingering close by.

And as if he had called them with his mind, one of the dolphins spiraled gracefully out of the water before diving back into it with a small splash.

Kai tilted his head with wonder. Now that he thought about it, those pretty creatures didn't seem as scary or as aggressive as he had thought before. They looked rather. . . Cute.

Suddenly a small dolphin; the same one that had splashed him with water, poked her head out of the water and shyly gazed at him, ashamed that she had scared him by accident.

"Oh, there you guys are," Soobin said, his arms still curled around Kai protectively when the parents of the small calf appeared from the water too.

A weird creaky wood-like sound came from the three dolphins, their small eyes shinning with something Kai couldn't read. He lifted his head and noticed the frills at either side of Soobin's head were twitching.

Kai gasped, his eyes grew big and shinny with admiration at the realization that his Suitor could most likely understand that weird noise.

"What are they saying?"

Soobin raised his brow at the trio before looking back at Kai. "They're apologizing for scaring you. They only wanted to encourage you into diving into the ocean and swim with them."

"O-Oh," Kai flicked his gaze to the dolphins and then back at Soobin. "If that's the case then. . . Sure, I'll do it."

"Y-You what?"

Kai pulled away from Soobin and stood up. He untied one of his braids and pulled his hair back to tie it all into a stubby yet sturdy bun. "I'll do it, how bad can it be?" He then hugged himself and looked back at Soobin with cute little puppy eyes. "Y-You'll be with me. . . I-I know I'll be safe."

"Well, yeah. . ." Soobin immediately stood up and walked up to Kai. "But, you don't have gills, w-what if-"

"I can hold my breath for 30 minutes,"

"You what?"

"Well, I just learned how to do it, Jeongin taught me how-"

"Who's Jeongin."

Kai fell silent. He blinked twice before giving Soobin a weird stare. "My friend?"
