Emely had arrived to Barry's lab and saw Big Belly Burger set up for her next to Barry's food.
"You could've eaten your food." Barry turned at the sound of Emely's voice and smiled.
"I didn't want to eat alone." Emely's heart fluttered at the idea of Barry wanting to eat with her.
"Oh, well, I'm here now. So let's eat. Or did you want to process the evidence first? Or maybe you don't work with an empty stomach? Or maybe-"
Barry sped to Emely and stared at her, making her stop talking. The two stared at one another for awhile, Emely's eyes wandering down to Barry's lips. Barry noticed her blue eyes travelling back and forth, and let his own eyes wander as well.
Barry snapped out of the trance, leaving Emely there. He went to a machine so he could start to process the evidence, while taking a bite out of the burger. The machine didn't work so Barry used his super speed to do it. Emely watched Barry as she ate her food. She noticed that Barry's breathing got weird so she went over to him.
"Bare, are you okay?" Before he could respond, a voice interrupted.
"This is all your- Oh, Emely. What a surprise that you're here alone with Barry." Iris smiled at Barry.
"I invited her here because she actually likes to talk about science." Emely sat quietly and ate her food.
Barry's eyes wandered at the way Iris was dressed.
"You look really nice." The part of Barry, which had feelings for Emely, was hurt.
"Why don't you look nice?" Barry totally forgot he and Iris had plans later that afternoon.
"It's all coming back to me now." Iris pursed her lips.
"How fast can you go home and change?" Emely giggled as she knew how fast Barry could do that.
"Pretty fast. Can Emely come too?" Before Iris could say anything, a fourth voice entered.
"Allen, Joe wants to know where you are on the evidence. Hey Emely. Hey Iris." Emely smiled at the blonde officer.
"Detective." Emely noticed some awkward tension between the two.
"Guys, Barry and I saw you kiss already." The couple smiled at Emely.
Barry went over to his computer and Emely could tell that a certain person who's name rhymed with Larry Pallen didn't like that fact that Iris was with Eddie. Emely then realized that Barry had strong feelings for Iris, ones that he'll never have for her.
"Thanks for being so cool about this guys. I know it's hard to keep a secret." Barry gave Emely a look and a smile, in which Emely winked at him.
"We're getting used to it."
Emely and Barry went home so they could change into appropriate cothes for the occasion. Barry was waiting for Emely, seeing as he could use his powers to change. Barry was on his phone when Emely came down the stairs. Barry did a double take as he finally noticed Emely was there.
"You look...you look nice, Emely." Barry let his eyes wander all over, letting his eyes take in the sight before him.
"Thanks, Barry." Emely's cheeks started heating up as she watched Barry check her out.
The pair made their way out the door and into a taxi, both of them not wanting to ruin their apppearance by speeding there. They finally made it to the suit and tie event, seeing Iris waiting by the door.
"Emely, hey. You look really great." Emely smiled at Iris, who subtly noticed the hand holding.
The three of them headed inside, as the event was about to start.
"I find it quite remarkable, having once been a timid freshman at Central City University to be standing before you now the Regents Choice for Man of the Year. While I very much appreciate this award, the real honor for me is knowing that my work in organ transference heps give people a second chance at life. Thank you all very much for coming." The crowd applauded.
Barry, Emely and Iris walked around as Barry began explaining.
"Okay. First thing first, Simon Stagg's work in cellular cloning has led to huge advancements in organ replacement." Emely was in awe as she learned more about Simon Stagg.
Iris grabbed two drinks and handed one to Barry, which he handed to Emely with a smile.
"Are journalists allowed to drink on the job?" Emely took a sip of the drink
"If you're bored, wait until we get to the science behind regeneration." Barry took Iris' drink and set it down.
"I love science." Emely muttered.
"I know you do." Barry had whispered in her ear.
"I've missed this." Iris wrapped her arm around Barry's arm, seeing as his left hand was still holding onto Emely's.
"We haven't spent any time together since you woke up from the coma." Emely placed her empty cup on a tray and grabbed another one.
"I've had a few crazy weeks. I know." Barry's arm discreetly slipped out of Iris' grasp and held onto Emely's hand firmly.
"I thought maybe you were avoiding me because of Eddie." Emely's hand slipped out of Barry's as she recalled that Barry had feelings for Iris, not her.
"I know you think it's wrong, me dating my dad's partner and-"
"No, that's not it at all." Emely knew Barry wasn't okay with Iris dating Eddie.
Simon Stagg walked by and Iris tried talking to him, but he left. The three of them had stopped walking and stood in the middle of the hallway. Gun shots were heard and men with masks appeared.
"Quiet down, all of you!" Barry held Iris and Emely close to him.
"How considerate. You're all wearing your finest jewelry, almost like you knew we were coming to rob you. Now everybody line up!" Everybody lined up, and they all started to put their jewelry in a black trash bag.
Barry tried to go after them but Emely held him back.
"Don't leave, Barry." The men in masks started to leave when a guard tried to stop them.
"Freeze!" The masked people fired at the guard but Barry sped him out.
The masked men left and Barry came back and took Emely with him outside. The masked men started to get into a van and got away since Barry started to faint. Emely caught him before he fell down and tried to carry him on her back.
"Why is he so damn heavy?" She mumbled to herself as she took Barry somewhere where they wouldn't find them.
Emely stayed by Barry's side and tried to wake him up.
"Barry." She shook him as hard as she could but he wouldn't budge.
"Barry." Again, nothing.
"Barry." She whined this time
Emely sighed as she knew that she couldn't do anything to wake him up. He would have to wake up on his own. She rested her head against his hard chest as she waited for him to wake up.
She made a mental note to herself to text Caitlin about what happened. She just hoped that Barry would be okay.
Losing Barry is her biggest fear.
