Barry placed a hand on Emely's shoulder, which she shook off. He noticed the sudden change in Emely's mood.
"Emely, are you okay?" She sighed.
"I'm just tired." Barry nodded.
"How about we go get dinner and then we'll go home to bed?" Emely smiled softly and nodded.
We went to Big Belly Burger and ate there. Emely paid for the food, much to Barry's protest. The pair headed home and as soon as they walked through the door, Emely let out a big yawn.
"Sounds like your really sleepy." Barry smiled.
"Yeah. It's been a long day." The two headed to Barry's room, Emely quickly changing into comfortable clothes before climbing onto the bed.
"Why don't you wear my clothes?" Barry pouted.
"Because I actually like my clothes." Barry climbed onto the bed and cuddled Emely into his side.
"Goodnight Emely." Barry placed a kiss on her temple and realized that she was already asleep.
Barry smiled at the sight of her sleeping and he moved Emely so they could be spooning. Barry placed his face in the crook of her neck and started placing kisses on her neck. Emely, in a state of sleep, moved her head closer to Barry's side and then turned to her other side so that she was facing him.
Barry placed a kiss on her forehead and wrapped his arm around her waist, resting his chin on her head. Barry wasn't tired, but he would rather have Emely in his arms than be anywhere else. Barry gently placed Emely on the space next to him, putting her away from him. He got up and went into the bathroom. He splashed water on his face and gazed at his reflection.
"I'm in love with Iris." He stated.
"I'm in love with Iris West." He told himself confidently.
"Emely Hart is just a friend. A really good friend." He stared blankly at his reflection.
A part of him, the part that liked Emely, wasn't happy about that statement he just stated. Barry sighed and went back to bed. He saw Emely still on her side of the bed, peacefully asleep. Barry closed his eyes and drifted to sleep, unaware that Emely got up after he did, and heard everything he said.
The next morning, Emely and Barry did their morning routine without speaking to each other. Emely tried her best to not think of what Barry was saying last night, but she couldn't. They both headed over to Central City Police Department and headed up to Barry's lab.
Barry noticed that Emely was quiet, very quiet, and was about to ask her what was wrong when Joe walked into the lab.
"Came to yell at me some more?" Joe sighed.
He didn't like this hostile situation between him and Barry. Barry was like a son to him. And Joe didn't like keeping quiet around Emely. He liked Emely. She was a nice girl. He took noticed a change in Emely's behavior side she wasn't saying much at all, which she is weird considering the fact that Emely always talks.
"Simon Stagg's head of security was murdered last night. The coroner took some skin samples. Hopefully they belong to the killer. Can you and Emely see if you can find a match? Thanks." Joe started to walk out.
"Can't be a coincidence that Stagg's benefit was attacked. I'm going to interview Stagg now." Barry began to get up.
"We'll come with you." Joe shook his head
"You stay here and you find a match. That's an order."
As Joe started to leave, Iris entered.
"You have got top be kidding me right now." Emely mumbled.
Emely sighed as she walked away from Iris and Barry and got lost in her own little world in the corner.
"Why is my dad mad at you?" Barry noticed Emely had gone off into the corner.
"Work stuff." He focused his attention on Iris. "Why are you mad at me?"
"You were supposed to meet me at Jitters to give me some scientific background for my article." Barry sighed.
"And I didn't show up." Iris nodded.
"I have to come up with a new topic in 24 hours or I fail the assignment." Iris crossed her arms.
"Iris, I'm-" He didn't get to finish
"Don't say you're sorry. Okay? I know you are. What I don't know is what's going on with you. We grew up one bedroom away from each other. Do you honestly think that I don't know when you're happy or sad, or depressed, or lost? I'm gunna ask you one last time, Barry, and you better be honest with me. What the-"
In that moment, Barry made the world seem like it was slowing down.
"You wanna know what's happening? I'm fast now. And I wanted to how I feel. How I really feel, but I can't." Barry stopped moving so fast and the world went back to normal.
"-he'll is going on with you?" Emely didn't want to stick around for the answer.
"Emely, hey." Emely didn't reply and kept waking.
"What's wrong with her?" Barry shrugged.
"I don't know." Barry began to think.
Emely was fine last night, but quiet this morning. Barry then thought of the fact that Emely could've heard him say that he loves Iris. He took a deep breath and told himself that she didn't hear him because she was asleep.
Emely headed to a hotel nearby and paid for one night. She ordered a tub of ice cream and began nine watching a show called Glee. A tub of ice cream later, Emely was a crying mess on the floor. She had never been so hurry before. She dialed her phone and called the one person she knew would help.
"Emely, you know there's a time difference right?" Her best friend's voice flooded the room.
"Rachel." Emely sniffled.
"Emely, what's wrong?" Emely was silent for awhile.
"I like Barry Allen." Emely confessed.
"What's wrong with that?" Emely shook her head.
"He loves somebody else." Rachel gasped.
"Oh sweetie. It'll be okay. He's not worth your tears if he can't see what a great girl you are." Emely nodded.
"Really?" Emely wiped her tears.
"Really. Now hang up the phone and go get some sleep, okay?" Emely nodded again.
"Okay." She did as Rachel told her to, but she couldn't fall asleep just yet.
Her mind was still on Barry. Barry had let Emely believe that he liked her. He had leaf her on the idea that Barry reciprocated the same feelings that Emely had just admitted she had. Now, Emely's just heartbroken by the fact that Iris was Barry's first love. Even though she didn't love him back, she was still his first love and no one can forget them. Emely feels bad now because she's stuck with the idea that Barry won't ever like her so she's stuck with feelings that aren't mutual. Feelings that are just starting to come out.
Emely sighed as she started the ceiling of the hotel room. It had taken her a couple of weeks to realize it and admit it, but she finally knows now what she's been feeling about the scarlet speedster this whole time.
"I have fallen for Barry Allen."
